The concept of mandalorian Anakin in fandom is so funny bcs essentially they’re saying yeah being a space samurai kinda fucked him up. Being a space cowboy would fix him though

A reminder that I do not like the Sith. They are not a misunderstood minority religion. They are the bad guys. They are space Nazis pure and simple. I do not feel bad for them or their ideology because their ideology is an awful ideology that promotes might make right which is wrong. Just saying that in case anybody thinks that I am ever going to stop harping on how the acolyte try to portray the Sith, the bad guys as some sort of a “persecuted minority faith.“
This is about as bad faith take as you can get in Canon equivalent to Karen Traviss’ warped view.
Do you think the jedi make their own robes? Like from scratch like collecting the silk and the wool and making thecloth.
I definitely think most if not all robe production is in house! They have ancient textile traditions that are preserved and practiced with the same reverence as any other skill. Jedi are taught very early up to respect their robes as valuable possessions, indicators of the path to which they’re dedicated, as well as a vital opportunity to express individuality.
They definitely have ancient, ethical sources for their silk, wool, leather, etc (this is making me think about the agricorps, your favorite!) and I like to think they maintain close ties with the people who raise the animals or cultivate the plants used for the materials. Imagine retired Jedi moving out to the mid rim to raise space sheep 🥹
I’m admittedly very uninformed when it comes to textiles and fabrics (when I cosplay I just use what I can get from 2nd hand and scrap shops with varying degrees of success) but I imagine the Jedi have an expansive selection of weights, textures, colors etc. Earth tones are in style during the final years of the Republic, but even in a sea of browns and tans, there are endless variations of warms and cools and silhouettes and embroidered details.
Speaking of embroidered details, I like to think that it’s pretty common for Jedi to incorporate patterns or motifs into their robes. While there’s millennia of traditional designs available (which carry different meanings/associations) there are many Jedi craftspeople who are resources for assisting in the creation of new designs to commemorate achievements or honor lineages, as a couple examples. For Jedi who are appointed to stations within the order which typically encourage signaling that station via embroidered robes, it’s expected that they’ll dedicate time to hand embroider their robes themselves (ie I headcanon Jocasta embroidered her own robes with the Ansata pattern).
Lastly, I like to think that, related to Jedi being taught very early to respect their robes, it’s common for Jedi to mend their own robes (at least for normal wear and tear reasons). There’s a whole woven crafts field of study available by way of electives for initiates and padawans, but basic mending skills are mandatory.

Obviously, there’s a lot of anti-Jedi sentiment in the GFFA, so Narah inevitably encounters people who judge her commitment as a Jedi as the result of indoctrination, teaching and expecting self-denial because "attachments are forbidden."
I’ve thought a lot about how Narah would respond to these perspectives—probably with a mix of subtle flair and a touch of mischief.
"Attachments are as forbidden as holding your breath. Have you tried it lately? Who stopped you?"
She is often confronted by individuals who leap to the conclusion that Jedi are indifferent and "out of touch" because they believe Jedi cut themselves off from everything that makes life rich. Narah has been called "brainwashed," "heartless," a "liar," and "manipulative" more times than she can count, usually by those who get weirdly angry when their assumptions about the Jedi aren’t confirmed. (Narah finds the irony amusing.)
"Attachment is the tension you feel when you hold your breath. Exhale, and the tension fades. Now, do you deprive yourself of air?"

i don't actually think star wars is space fantasy. 99.9% of people in the GFFA are just in a regular science fiction story. but also have a low likelihood of meeting a real actual wizard.
the odds of a wizard just showing up are low but never zero
like it's a really big setting (whole galaxy) and even pre-empire the Jedi were a single religious order based on Coruscant. and yeah they could have other temples but they clearly don't have an established presence on every planet. plus latent force sensitivity is typically a pretty subtle ability (Anakin was off the shits powerful & his presented primarily as inhumanly good reflexes).
fully plausible to me that most people who don't live on Coruscant (or another planet w a Jedi temple on it) could very easily go through their whole lives without ever meeting a Jedi. less likely that they'd never run into anyone force sensitive but again 'force sensitive' could just mean 'weirdly intuitive' in practice
this is why it's not that implausible to me that as of the original trilogy a lot of people don't believe the Force is a real thing - even when the Jedi were relatively abundant i can believe that a lot of people were like 'oh there's a religious order who believe they have magical mind powers? that's neat I guess'. add in some imperial propaganda about how the Jedi and yeah sure. i can buy that within 20 years everyone's just pivoted away from believing in the force
anyway potential very sharp split in the rebellion between people who never believed in the force/bought into the propaganda/are just too young to remember the jedi order and people who are like no you guys the Jedi could kill people with their brains, I know bcos I was there
the rebellion is pretty clearly pro-jedi (use 'may the force be with you' as a sign-off in mission briefings) but i can easily imagine some rebels being like oh i get it, the force is symbolic right? it's a metaphor for the interconnected nature of life. and then Mon Mothma & co are there like for the last time the force is real and if you don't watch out Darth Vader is going to use it to kill you

Y'know what? Yes, I want a Obi-Wan and Satine on the run novel, but you know what I don't want? A romance novel. I want the major part of this book to be about mandalorian politics that led to the civil war, Satines inner conflict and seeing how she becomes the pacifist we know in tcw and Obi-Wan trying to understand his feelings. Sure, coming of age is kinda inevitable since they are both young adults/teenagers who have inner conflicts that need to be resolved at the end.
I believe their romance to be important to both of their characters, but there's a reason neither of them asked the other to stay. Because both of them are duty bound people and I think that is what needs to be the most important conclusion. Their romance can't define the characters they are. They can be affected by it for sure, just NOT defined.
Also I need a minor subplot about Qui-gon innerly panicking about having two horny, dramatic teens (from his perspective) and possible pregnancies and trying to stop them from literally fucking around and finding out with both fucking and not getting them all killed. Just general Dad vibes.
Mace Windu in trad Jedi garb anyone?
I think one of the best and unintentionally funniest worldbuilding aspects in Star Wars is the reasoning of why did Bail and Breha adopt Leia instead of having their own children. Leia is first established as the princess of Alderaan before she is written to be Luke's sister. So now we need to figure out how she got to Alderaan. She was adopted because she needed to be hidden and separated from her brother. Bail was placed there to be one of the only people who knew so there would be a reason why it was them who got her. They specifically wanted a daughter. Why? Because Alderaan is a matriarchal society, so they needed a princess. Why didn't the Queen and her husband have biological children? Because they can't. Why? Because the Queen can't have kids. Why? Because she got injured as a teenager and got her internal organs replaced and her body can't handle a pregnancy. How did she get injured so badly? She fell off of a mountain. How did that happen? She was climbing it. Why was the future Queen climbing a mountain in the first place? Because she needed to go through three challenges in order to inherit the throne and one of them required her to go through something physically impressive. Why? Because before that they just held a Battle Royale for all the heirs and the one left alive got the throne and they at some point figured out that maybe they shouldn't be doing that, actually. Oh, okay.
during tcw film, asajj runs up and jumps on obi-wan like this:
and in 'fire across the galaxy', quizzy goes:
so, i purport: this is a form ii move set. it's not about flipping around or rotating, it doesn't fall into the su ma from ataru. it is: along the centre line. it does: control it.
