Ok, different topic but one of love.

With the impending EBT not going out this next month. My church has started an adoption program. Each family, that has the means, it is not mandatory, adopts an elderly or a disabled family (single person or actual family) within the church or their neighborhood, who are receiving food stamps and helps provide food. Many receive $50 to $300 monthly in fs due to being 1 person up to 3 with a fixed income. This is not for the ones receiving $1,000 or more in fs, along side thousands more in other Welfare benefits.

This is not just giving them cash for food, but physically taking them to the store to do their regular shopping and pay for the food. See if they are getting a nutritious balance and if they need more help later to be able to eat a health diet or live safely in their homes. No junk food or soda or things like that. If they prefer a sugar cereal instead of bran flakes then that would be fine.

We have adopted an older disabled couple, that my in-laws know. They are the sweetest couple you have ever met and have done so much for others without asking for anything in return. They get aprox. $165 a month for 2 people, on an income about $1300 a month disability.

This is the people really being hurt. These are the type of people who everyone, even you, knows. These are the kind of people we heed to help, of we can. Not everyone can afford to help in this way, but if this touches you and you can financially help, or get your friends group to pitch in and buy a bag of some fresh vegetable or 5lbs of hamburger or some fresh fruit to give to someone like this whom you know, then please do. Every little bit helps and maybe you can make a new friend. It will show them there are people who care, when many of the elderly and disabled are alone or feel abandoned by their family or past friends.

-actually, they do have jobs and some are disabled.

“They need a BETTER job. Unskilled labor doesn’t deserve a living wage. Can’t work at McDonald’s forever! That’s for high schoolers.”

-So, if it’s such an insignificant, unskilled area of the workforce, you’ll have no problem not giving your business to said places anymore, since their service doesn’t make a difference? No more eating out, no more ordering in, no more getting serviced at a grocery store, no more clerks to check out your items at stores, no more fast food, no more dashers for deliveries, no more baristas, no more security or guards at stadiums when you have an event, no more instructors/teacher who make hourly pay to give you your classes. All of that stuff—you’re ready to give up all that stuff since you want all of those people who work those shitty jobs to get better ones and move up? And when the high schoolers can’t make it to these jobs because they’re in school or doing homework, since according to you, they’re the only ones fit for them, you’ll give up your argument, right?

Vernal tells Weiss that the tribe doesn't do the human trafficking thing, so I wonder where they got that cage.
