I try not to fall into the "I never liked their work anyway" ditch when an artist/creator reveals themself to be a terrible person

BUT

a feeling I do have and will stand by is "While I enjoyed their work overall I did have some gripes that I overlooked out of affection and whimsy, but now that my loyalty is gone and my affection tainted there is nothing holding me back from enumerating my many grievances, to which the revelations of the creator's shittiness may or may not provide a new and infuriating context."

“If your OC could revisit their childhood, what would they want to change about it, if anything at all?” - I think that Cinalu, looking back on her childhood, would wish that she had more friends. One of the major factors that drove her, at seventeen years old, to head into the Mist War was that she was a lonely, lonely child. After her brother left for Divinity’s Reach, she felt as if she had no one left who cared about her. Her parents opinion of her was apathetic at best, and other kids her age were either put off by her strong personality, or poked fun at the fact she wasn’t performing as well as the rest of her peers. Though, some of her isolation was performative in some regard because it gave her a reason to be angry at someone else instead of her own perceived “failings”, instead of herself.

“How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they like who they are? What would they want to change about themself?” - The answer to this has fluctuated as time has passed. When Cinalu was a child, she desperately wished she could’ve been anyone or anything else, just something that was deserving of love, of praise, of attention. Everything in her life made her feel inadequate, and that created a loop of self loathing that she became trapped in for many years. By the time the personal story happens, she’s put up her shield of indifference. If she doesn’t care about herself, about how people treat her, about how she’s perceived, then she can’t be hurt, can’t experience those feelings of inadequacy and self loathing again. This, obviously, doesn’t work because the way she acts is directly influenced by those lingering remnants of her childhood. I’d say she only begins to accept herself post End of Dragons, being able to recognize her own shortcomings without feeling weak and incapable as a result.

“Describe a mundane day in your OC's life.” - She wakes up early everyday, usually an hour or two before Trahearne. She takes that time to make herself a hot drink (could be anything from hot cocoa to cider depending on the day), check up on the cats, tend to the various other animals and mounts, and then takes care of her own hygiene and needs. I think she likes to make sure the house is warm before Trahearne wakes up since he’s more susceptible to the cold of the Shiverpeaks than she is. She probably takes some time out of the day to polish her armor and sharpen her weapons. I also think her and Trahearne like to read together, and Cinalu has been dedicating more time to her own personal hobbies like woodworking.

“What are some of your OC's coping mechanisms during stressful or overwhelming periods in their life?” - 👏🏻REPRESS!!👏🏻 To be more genuine, Cinalu generally grins and bears most things because she has twleve million other things to deal with at the moment and she’s got to get shit done. She’s supposed to be a strong figurehead, a leader, so she can’t let the pressure get to her, or at least let others know the pressure is getting to her because then people begin to doubt, and doubt can destroy morale. The unfortunate side affect of this is that refusing to acknowledge that the stress of a situation is taking a toll on you for an extended period of time causes that stress to be relieved in… less healthy ways. She can end up snapping at people, becoming cold and apathetic, and even going so far as to avoid her close peers because confiding in them feels like an acknowledgment of her own weakness. Again, this aspect of herself has mellowed out significantly as time has passed, but old habits die hard.

June 9 Dev Stream Summary

Confirmed Arenanet will be starting development on the next expansion for GW2 next year, but the details won’t be announced or revealed until after the launch of GW3 (they didn't specify whether they meant the beta or the 1.0). The aim is to return to an annual cadence for GW2 like what we’ve seen with SoTO, JW, & VoE

The announcement of GW3 has made an overall positive impact on the population of the game. Since the announcement on Friday they've seen a 40% increase in daily active users. VoE set a record with returning players (accounts with no log-ins for a year or more) and this weekend beat that by almost 2x (Saturday was the single best day for new player acquisition since the Steam launch). So the population is very healthy despite some community concerns about player migration.

Starting to get sick of the people acting like gw3 not having charr or sylvari is the same as anet getting rid of charr and sylvari. It's an entirely different game, they're not taking your toys away they're just giving different ones time in the spotlight
