yves's 7xgreat grandma nim is my gw1 nightfall character so she's there for the fall of abaddon/rise of kormir. she and kormir are crazyyy about each other so when abaddon falls kormir absorbs most of the magic and ascends to protect nim, but nim still gets a decent amount which gives her crazy potential for magic and she passes this down to her eldest daughter and lies and tells her it's a blessing from kormir despite knowing that it's actually a fragment of abaddon's magic. then 7 generations of eldest daughter inheriting this later yves inherits the gift, eventually meets kormir and learns the truth, and has an identity crisis strong enough to cause her to try to end the world #womenswrongs
Since they were trying to write jormag as being sincere about wanting to help and protect tyria, imagine if they had REALLY leaned into that. Like, had jormag and ryland make peace and actually work directly with the commander and aurene, and genuinely do good things for a while (although ryland is extremely distrustful), until something primordus related happens that forces jormag to act and the commander to make a quick decision and what they choose to do is devastating for jormag. Whatever it is, is a direct parallel to smodur killing cinder during negotiations. Maybe jormag's influence goes both ways, and their champion can sway them as well as they can whisper to anyone, and the whole thing is both a tragedy and another consequence of ryland's anger. Then that's where the icebrood saga leaves off and a primordus living world begins
i always thought that the kryptis were gonna be related to the unseen from gw1 because the possession infusion is so similar to abaddon's face 😭
plus demons in gw1 are described as feeding on vital energy and despair similarly to the kryptis... and the margonites summoned demons and were eventually transformed into demons by abaddon... plus the possible overlap between abaddon's domains of magic and secrets and the kryptis' hunger for emotions and memories. my crackpot theory was that when abaddon and the margonites were cast into the mists and abaddon was imprisoned in the realm of torment the transformed margonites eventually became the kryptis and continued to act out abaddon's desire for revenge even after his death. obviously this did not happen LOL but i will keep this for my canon because i think it is an interesting coincidence

yves and eparch have a complicated relationship but i do think its built on begrudging respect for each other because 1. yves recognizes that eparch and his people have a lot of power over humans in general from their ability to influence emotions and memory and 2. eparch recognizes that yves is one of the strongest (living, non-immortal) mages in tyria and being able to raise hell in nayos after being transported there alone for multiple days before getting captured is indicative of that. both of them are also wielding abaddon's magic which makes yves willing to hear eparch out instead of just blowing him up because there's so few people in tyria who know about abaddon and even fewer who are willing to talk about him. ultimately though they're both just manipulating each other as a means to an end and anything romantic that happens between them is part of that game

Man one thing I love about the Guild Wars series is that Humans are actually interesting. Like in most high fantasy settings with magical races, humans are just kinda there as a footnote. They’re kinda just there because it’s expected. When you look at their lore and culture in the wider world fantasy humans are kinda just… nothingburger. The Guild Wars series is legitimately the only series I know of where Humans have an actual presence with interesting lore. Guild Wars Humans they could never make me hate you.

Rough concept for leo's ibs glam. Traditional high ranking Blood Legion attire. My hc is that only higher ranked charr are allowed embellishments and patterns on their armor. Essentially, their reward for attaining such a high rank is only the Slightest Bit of individualism in an otherwise conformist society. So he does have a bit more going on but still sticks to the usual colorsscheme and look
