If You Are A Dreamer, Come In

@ficwip's wip word this week is 'chain' and it's actually in the next chapter of Darkest Before the Dawn...I've been dying (and scared) to write Louis and Armand coming face to face for the first time after the events of Dubai. Here is a small snippet:

“Louis,” Armand stood there, the perfect picture of a well-mannered gentleman caller. 

“Tell me you didn’t kill Felix,” Louis ignored his greeting, snarling the words as he filled the doorway with his frame.

“I did not kill Lestat’s idiot fledgling,” Armand’s voice was flat and weary. “He is merely pre-occupied at the moment. May I come in? We need to talk.”

15. Is there any genre, trope, or style that you find particularly challenging to write? Do you enjoy the challenge or prefer to avoid it?

Hmm. This was a hard one but I think it might actually be...sex scenes? They used to make me wildly uncomfortable to write (not to read, just write) and I was generally somewhat avoidant but now I think I'm more comfortable with both myself and as a writer, and I don't feel near as afraid, not that I've been writing much, but I have a few planned for Darkest Before the Dawn and I'm actually quite excited about them, not as much for the sex itself but for the the context in which it will happen.

19. What was the very first fanwork you ever created?

LMAO...this took me down memory lane because at first I was thinking it was my soap opera fics that I wrote for Passions, but when I really go into the wayback machine, I distinctly remember Kid Me being so obsessed with the Nightmare on Elm Street movies (the originals with Robert Englund, not that suck ass remake) that I tried to write a book inspired by the fourth movie. So funny that I am so horror movie avoidant now when I loooooved those movies like a drug growing up. I mean, there was just so much lore to explore (and I was a strange child, lbr lol). Also! I just remembered - I also made the Elm Street house out of cardboard! It looked terrible lol.

🤩 What's the most meaningful comment you've ever received?:

Oh wow; I love just about every comment I've ever gotten but I think the ones I especially treasure are probably the ones I've gotten from The Russian where people said I made them see Svetlana differently and understand her point of view more, which is exactly what I had hoped for when I decided to write her story. I also really love the comments where people say I've made them cry. Sometimes, depending on the context, it makes me cackle evilly but mostly it just thrills me that I've ever written anything that makes anyone feel that much; what an honor.
