help I fell for the cryptic otome game (again) and now I canât get up
This is the same reason why cis people putting pronouns in their bio is fantastic! It normalizes it and acts as a shield against people immediately knowing you're trans because you put pronouns in your bio

if you got like a 100kilo bag of glitter and opened it up and left it in the path of like a tornado i think that would be interesting. i dont care abt ecological damage btw
unrealistic that Misa never like customised her death note with cute stickers and shitÂ
Password sharing is not piracy any more than loaning your friend a DVD or watching a movie with your family is piracy. The service is already paid for. Execs just consider sharing to be eeeevil because they canât exploit every individual person.Â
if they tried to invent libraries today it would get shut down
hey what's up with the "!" in fandoms? i.e. "fat!" just curious thaxxx <3
I have asked this myself in the past and never gotten an answer.
Maybe today will be the day we are both finally enlightened.
woodsgotweird said: man i just jumped on the bandwagon because i am a sheep. i have no idea where it came from and i ask myself this question all the time
Maybe someone made a typo and it just got out of hand?
I kinda feel like panic!at the disco started the whole exclamation point thing and then it caught on around the internet, but maybe they got it from somewhere else, IDK.
The world may never knowâŚ
Maybe itâs something mathematical?
Iâve been in fandom since *about* when Panic! formed and the adjective!character thing was already going strong, pretty sure it predates them.
Itâs a way of referring to particular variations of (usually) a character â dark! Will, junkie!Sherlock, et cetera. I have suspected for a while that it originated from some archive system that didnât accommodate spaces in its tags, so to make common interpretations/versions of the characters searchable, people started jamming the words together with an infix.
(Lately Iâve seen people use the ! notation when the suffix isnât the full name, but is actually the second part of a common fandom portmanteau. This bothers me a lot but it happens, so itâs worth being aware of.)
âBang pathsâ (! is called a âbang"when not used for emphasis) were the first addressing scheme for email, before modern automatic routing was set up. If you wanted to write a mail to the Steve here in Engineering, you just wrote âSteveâ in the to: field and the computer sent it to the local account named Steve. But if it was Steve over in the physics department you wrote it to phys!Steve; the computer sent it to the âphysâ computer, which sent it in turn to the Steve account. To get Steve in the Art department over at NYU, you wrote NYU!art!Steve- your computer sends it to the NYU gateway computer sends it to the âartâ computer sends it to the Steve account. Etc. (âBang"s were just chosen because they were on the keyboard, not too visually noisy, and not used for a huge lot already).
It became pretty standard jargon, as I understand, to disambiguate when writing to other humans. First phys!Steve vs the Steve right next to you, just like you were taking to the machine, then getting looser (as jargon does) to reference, say, bearded!Steve vs bald!Steve.
So Iâm guessing alternate character version tags probably came from that.
100% born of bang paths. fandom has be floating around on the internet for six seconds longer than there has been an internet so early users just used the jargon associated with the medium and since itâs a handy shorthand, we keep it.
Absolutely from the bang pathsâsaw people using them in early online fandom back in 1993 for referring to things.

I just read my old quotev fics b y e
i deleted all my old ones. i do not need someone seeing 11 year old meâs poorly written sans x reader with borderline p3doph1ll14 (in my defense i thought that 13 and 17 were very old and close in age when i was 11)
Every Creepypasta Quotev story from back in the day was always like
Slenderman led me into the Creepypasta mansion, leading me into a room full of strange looking people. There was a boy in a mask who was shoveling cheesecake in his mouth. "My name's Masky." He introduced himself through bites like some kind of gluttonous mother fucker. "This is Hoodie." He said, pointing to another boy in a hoodie who also wore a mask who just glared at me, saying nothing. I waved in a friendly manner. Slenderman brought me into the living room where I saw a guy straight up eating someone's fucking liver. "That's Eyeless Jack." Slenderman informed me, rudely pointing out that this guy had no eyes. "Sup, bitch motherfuckers." A shrill voice boomed, sliding down the nearby staircase like some kind of 90's cool kid. This kid was crusty as hell and wore a black weave and he had like no eyelids. "That's Jeff The Killer." Slenderman explained. "Excuse me, what am I doing here?" I asked. Slenderman stared at me (even though he had no eyes lol) and said "You're one of us. You're a Creepypasta."
"Oh, okay." I responded. I mean, it made sense to me. I DID just kill my parents and all.
so howâs quotev doing these days? i kinda thought it died.
great actually! the community isnât as friendly as it used to be however, and roleplaying isnât as popular. itâs become more or less like a wattpad + quiz site. i find that my books gain more traction on Q than they do on wattpad however.

âLike Your Fatherâ
âYouâre just like your father.â The women that I call my mother says as I tie my shoes. Itâs a small comment about how Iâm pokey and slow to her, but to me itâs a whole different story.
âNever marry a man like your father,â she says to me. âHeâs incompetent and lazy. He can never take charge.â She says this while driving me home from dance lessons.
âI hate your father.â She says to me while we watch tv on the couch.
âI shouldâve never married himâ.
âI shouldâve never had children with him.â I want to point out that she wouldnât have had me, but itâs not worth the trouble.
To me, âJust like your fatherâ is a painful phrase whether used lightheartedly or not. I am not âjust like him.â I refuse to be a regret. Never will I ever be the same as him. Do not dare compare us two.
