Remember two hours ago when I was worried I wasnt going to show any symptoms during my tilt table test?
Yeah I was wrong. Lmao.
I’ll make a longer post describing my experience later today, so stay tuned!
(I’m fine, btw- but I definitely have POTS.)
Did anyone else’s undiagnosed depression when they were young manifest in terrible dental hygiene that haunts you to this day or was that just a me thing
I am shocked and relieved by how relatable this is

no one fucking tells you this so here it is:
when signing out forms to apply for disability / filling out a form for diagnosis
you’re supposed to fill it out as you on your worst days
like, I filled out forms that said I could do most things usually
like, my doctor added in the conditions like “yeah, they can feed themselves when not stressed” “they can do this when not stressed”
but how I should have filled it out was more like
“some days I can’t feed myself” “some days I can’t leave the house”
My doctor didn’t even know this, but I talked to someone who had worked with people with both developmental and intellectual disabilities for a number of years, and she told me to write down how it is for your bad days
this should be a thing they tell you, but it isn’t
part of the reason I didn’t get my autism diagnosis as soon as I should have is because I filled out forms wrong!
This also goes for filling out forms for disabled parking rights. I’ve been rejected multiple times for a pass cause I didn’t find this out till recently.
Also you’re generally supposed to fill it out as you are without help.
That throws me too. Because the more help I get, the more capable I get. It’s easy to forget what happens when the help falls away even partially let alone completely.
Hey, unpopular opinion, apparently. But people don’t just “have pain for no reason” doctors say this all the time (especially to women and chronically ill people) and the truth is, Thats literally not possible. Even if your pains are psychosomatic (a word I hesitate to even use because of the way its used so often) there is a reason you are having those pains whether its mental illness, abuse, etc. If your doctor consistently tells you that “well some people just have pain for no reason” get a new doctor. That’s a doctor who is not going to give a shit what your actual symptoms or experiences are.
I just wanna add to clarify the psychosomatic thing.
That word DOES NOT MEAN you’re making it up. It doesn’t mean you’re imagining the symptom. What it means is that the symptom ISN’T DIRECTLY CAUSED BY ANY OF THE THINGS THAT WOULD NORMALLY CAUSE IT.
I fought to get a PCOS diagnosis for 2 and a half years. For the ENTIRE time I was fighting, I was dealing with 3 cysts that were not going away by themselves and eventually required surgery to remove. At one point close to the end of the battle, I suddenly went blind. I was visiting my parents and was standing on the veranda looking out over the tree we had planted in memory of my dog and suddenly I got one of the shooting pains that I was quite frankly used to at that point and my vision started to go dark. It was like the sun was setting while being completely hidden behind storm clouds but it was 2pm in the middle of Summer on a clear day. Within about 30 seconds I couldn’t see ANYTHING. I was 27 years old and I was screaming for my mother.
My mum raced me to her doctor (he was a 15 minute drive away as opposed to 45 minutes to the nearest hospital) and he quickly worked out that there was nothing wrong with my eyes and what had happened was totally unrelated to them. Then he said it was psychosomatic and I freaked out, yelling that I was NOT making this up and I definitely wasn’t imagining it. Very quickly he calmed me down and said he believed me and I had misunderstood. He explained that whatever was going on with my abdominal pains (he suggested PCOS which I hadn’t even heard of at that point) had been ignored for so long that my body was starting to do things other than the normal pain response to try to draw my attention to the problem. My sight going was my body basically jumping around in front of me going “HEY ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME HELLLOOOOOOO??????”
He gave me some prescription strength painkillers and my sight started to come back as soon as they started to kick in. About 45 minutes after it started I could see well enough to walk around without help and within a day and a half I was back to normal. On top of that I finally had a scan booked to figure out what the hell was causing all the pain.
Psychosomatic symptoms are NOT imagined or fabricated or happening for “no reason”. Experiencing them DOES NOT make you a liar. It makes you someone who has been battling with something serious for so long that your own body has started to get impatient with you.
I completely agree. Thank you for sharing this.
Psychosomatic symptoms are literally your body flipping random alarm switches just to get any alarm blaring because you’ve been ignoring the regular ones
You know one of the shittiest parts of chronic pain?
Sympathy has an expiration date.
If you’re hurting because you broke your leg, people can sympathize with you, because there’s an end-date. Eventually your leg will heal and you’ll be okay again. People will coo and coddle and bring you chocolates and sign your cast because they know that’s emotional labor that they will only have to perform temporarily.
But if you have a chronic condition that causes you daily pain, after awhile, people get annoyed with having to deal with you. They ask you what’s wrong, and when you reply with the same thing that was wrong last week, or the week before, or the month before, you eventually get an incredulous, “Still?”
Or maybe they’re not that overt. Maybe instead they go, “Oh, just that. Okay.” As if today’s pain should somehow be fine for them to ignore because it’s nothing new. No need to worry: it’s just the same old same old.
Let me tell you: Pain never gets easy to handle. It’s not like people with chronic pain develop an immunity to it, or that we stop feeling it. Sure, some of us get better at ignoring it, or better at living around it, but honestly? Most of us just get better at hiding it, because we get tired of feeling like an emotional burden to everyone around us.
But that doesn’t mean that we’re not hurting, and it sort of sucks that long-term pain, in addition to all the other fun things it entails, also eventually comes with a revoked right to be sympathized with, or even just treated like something other than a whiny attention-grabbing faker (or worse: a drug-seeker).
Chronic pain is real. And it sucks. And one of the worst parts about it is knowing it’s never going to end.
It would just be cool if people could try understand that, I guess.
i know being extremely ill is a tremendous burden and i would never truly want to be sicker than i currently am, but fuck i hate being stuck in the grey area of chronic illness. that area of being able to shower yourself most days, of being able to cook sometimes, of being able to walk up a flight of stairs, of being able to drive a car, but also of not being able to work or study, of not being able to stand for longer than 5 minutes, of not being able to walk long distances or play sports or, let’s be honest, have sex. i don’t know where i am or where that leaves me, and what makes it harder is that the line between what a chronically ill person can do and should do is very, very blurry. it’s so, so hard living your life in a constant state of limbo

It’s time to play “Why am I dizzy today and am I actually going to faint?”
Instructions for a walk in the woods
Never turn around to check behind you. You’ll see nothing, but once you start doing it you won’t be able to stop, and an ominous feeling will follow you until you don’t lock your house’s door behind you.
If you stand very still and listen you will hear the woods calling for you. Don’t answer. Never answer.
You’ll hear things quietly following you, hidden in the trees by your sides. It’s okay, they’re just checking on you.
Don’t be scared, but be really, really wary.
If you have a bad feeling about taking a certain path, don’t. You’ll avoid whatever is waiting for you at the end of it.
You never know what may be buried under the soil you’re walking on. Remember that every time you take a step. Pray that whatever it is, it won’t wake up.
Be careful not to step on any beetle, or you’ll never get rid of them.
If you bring a knife with you, name it. Otherwise the blade will turn against you as soon as you try to use it.
Make sure you remember the way back home. As soon as you get lost, you’re just another piece of fresh meat.
If you’re not noticed, you’re still valid.
Like, if no ones gonna read it, you should still write it.
If no ones gonna see it, you should still do it.
If no ones gonna hear you, you should still say it.
You’re not measured by how people react to you.
You’re not measured by how people react to you.
A kiss from one sweet boy to brighten your day <3
wheres all the support for the emotional abuse victims
no, seriously. victims of emotional abuse have it hard because they do not have the physical marks or the records to “prove” to someone they were hurt and are hurting. most people will not take emotional abuse as seriously as physical abuse, saying “you should get over it” or “sticks and stones”. thats fucking bullshit.
emotional abuse victims who have been forced to do or say or be things you never wanted to, i love you.
emotional abuse victims who have been gaslighted and manipulated to the point where you no longer know what is real, i care for you.
emotional abuse victims who are told they will never be loved by anyone else and they are not a good person, you are amazing.
emotional abuse victims who feel manipulative and often catch themselves mirroring actions of their abusers and feel sick to their stomachs because theyre “turning into them”, you are not them and never will be. you are so much better than that.
emotional abuse victims who have to live every day suffering because nobody understands how messed up you are from what they said or did or made you do, you arent alone.
anyone who reads this, i care for you. please support all victims of abuse every single day because they deserve it just like they deserve the love and care those in the past have failed to provide them

Pity party for one
Had a bit of a melt down, today.
I'm so fed up whatever the fuck is wrong with me. I'm fed up with not having a name for it, so I feel like it's not real and I'm somehow making everything up. It's been a year and the theories are as follows;
Side effects from clomid
Labyrinthitis
Meniere's disease
Cortisol imbalance
Complex migraines
PoTS
I've been referred to cardiology to investigate for PoTS and can't proceed with IVF while we don't know what's going on with me. ENT thinks it's complex migraines.
I've not been able to work for almost a year.
I feel like the biggest burden and inconvenience to my husband.
Can't contribute to finances and the guilt is crippling. Can't keep up with housework because I need to lay down constantly when I try. Can't drive anymore because I'm terrified I'll take a turn and cause an accident. Can't go out by myself from fear of something happening and not being able to get home or get help. Can't pick something up from the floor without risking loss of consciousness because I somehow still can't get it in my thick skull that I can't just do things like I used to. Can't eat without feeling like I'm going to throw up. Can't bathe/shower without my husband in the house incase I start to faint and knock myself out on the floor, again. Can't think straight, so it's a chore conversing with me and don't bother trying to get a quick decision from me because I'm apparently incapable and I become an aggravated mess. Can't get pregnant because my reproductive system may as well be a calcified cactus..
The fuck use am I?
Witch Tip 🔮
Whenever you are not using your crystal ball, cover it with a dark cloth.
Partially because it’s special and magical.
But mostly because it’s a double convex lens and when a ray of sunshine goes through it, it can act like a magnifying glass and set your fucking house on fire.
