GOD shane who saw how stresed his parents were about his food allergies and what to feed him while growing up who just started thinking about food as Something To Check Off A Daily List. this tastes fine and it won't kill him and knowing that he can eat it is one less thing for everyone to think about. check. and it's not that david and yuna would ever WANT him to have that attitude to food, but after enough epipens and hospital visits...yeah, it's kind of nice when your kid has meals he'll ask for and eat with no complaints. and they eat allergy friendly in solidarity with him at home, but it's just one of those things. shane has Shane Meals that they all know are safe for him to eat, and as far as shane is concerned, that's all they need to be. he grew up going to birthday parties where he couldn't eat anything everyone else was eating and his parents trying to send him with something safe for him just made him feel awkward and like he stood out in a bad way (and he had enough of that already). so HE doesn't feel like it's deprivation. everyone else eats fun food and he goes home and eats his Approved Food that follows all the Won't Kill Me Rules. done. easy.
