romance has been hard for me to define recently. and while i appreciate people being romantic with me, i find it very difficult to reciprocate.

My opinion? That that’s a super rad way to be, good on you for being able to figure that out about yourself.

However, as nice and as true as that sentiment is, I assume you’re trying to ask for a label or at least some wider a-spectrum context for how your experiences fit. While I can’t pick out a label or identify what exactly you’re experiencing for you, I did some research, and here are some terms I dug up.

Again, I’m not sure which of these words will draw you in the most, but they seemed to be the closest to what was described in the ask. I’d also recommend checking out the website these are from (I’ve linked in the source code the website, plus will put it in a more obvious place in a reblog, just don’t want this post to get shadow banned), it might have something I missed that you like a lot.

Let’s start at the beginning, what does it mean to be a-spec?

Asexual- Sometimes shortened to “ace,” someone who experiences little to no sexual attraction.

Aromantic- Sometimes shortened to “aro,” someone who experiences little to no romantic attraction.

Aroace- A shortening of “asexual aromantic,” someone who experiences little to no romantic or sexual attraction.

Demiromantic/Demisexual- Someone who experiences romantic/sexual attraction only after an emotional bond has been formed.

Grayromantic/Graysexual- Someone who experiences romantic/sexual attraction either rarely and/or only other specific circumstances. It’s a purposely vague term in order to cover a variety of people who fall under aro and ace umbrellas.

Alloromantic/Allosexual- Someone who experiences romantic/sexual attraction fully and are not in anyway aro-spec/ace-spec.

Ace-spec- Short for asexual spectrum, an umbrella term used to describe anyone who identifies as ace, gray-ace, or otherwise as not allosexual.

Aro-spec- Short for aromantic spectrum, an umbrella term used to describe anyone who identifies as aro, gray-aro, or otherwise as not alloromantic. 

A-spec- Short for aromantic/asexual spectrum, an umbrella term used to describe anyone who identifies as aro, gray-aro, ace, gray-ace or otherwise as not alloromantic or allosexual.
