Like it's a bad review in the sense that she's an elitist who does not think movies count as art and does not seem to understand movies as a medium at all but it's also bad in other, much weirder ways, such as 'the POC actors in the supporting roles are all doing the Black Best Friend canard regardless of the role or whether the actor is even Black' and 'not killing your own daughter is a modern American value'. And of course, 'there's no sex and the food looks horrible' which we all know are definitely valid and reasonable critiques of a film.

There's also just many examples of her claiming things did not happen in the movie that factually, provably, explicitly happen in the movie, and then she complains the movie is inconsistent and shallow. Also she claims the historical consensus is that the 'Sea peoples' did not exist at all and were a 19th century theory that has since been debunked, which is just not true? The idea that the Sea peoples caused the Bronze Age Collapse has been generally debunked by historical consensus, but not their existence.

She literally never connects the 'American family man' thing ever again.

That's the caliber of about 75% of this review. The movie is bad because it deviates from the source material (despite her saying adaptations SHOULD deviate), it's too modern or American (using your own child as a human sacrifice is apparently not taboo in the UK), and, most of all, Odysseus doesn't have enough sex. The rest varies between problems she invented because she apparently watched a different movie than the rest of us and the very rare good point.

Anyway here's her thinking the literal point/message of the movie is actually a flaw because she fundamentally does not understand how art, especially narrative-based art, acts as commentary on contemporary issues.
