So he calls, and the phone rings maybe 5 or six times before an eerily cheery ford picks up, his voice a bit off but perhaps it because of how shitty the phone booth was or perhaps their connection. And for the first time in 8 years Stanley pines talks to his brother. He keeps it short, he misses ford, he misses his family— he fucked up and for the last 8 years his life has been a never ending shitshow and he doesn’t know if he can take it anymore. He wanted to make amends before he finally drove off a cliff or shot himself or took every illegal and legal substances he had in his car.

Then silence. Stan waits with a heavy heart for ford’s response, for any indication that he might still be there why is ford all of a sudden so quiet?

Then he hears laughter, screechy belly deep laughter.

“Is that all Mac? Geez, I’m surprised you didn’t do us all a favor and do it sooner! Did ya think I would care?”

Stan is… well yes shocked because he always had that glimmer of hope that perhaps ford would care-

“Honestly this is a waste of time, why even bother calling? Acting as if I ever cared about you? PATHETIC HAHAHA! You want to know something Stanley?”

Stan’s breathes hitches, something is wrong- that- that CANT be Ford right? Ford isn’t-

“Pa was right. Everyone was right. You’re just the spare parts, the stupid sweatier version of me that no one wanted. You’re suffocating. Always have always will be— and as long as you’re alive you will always be a tumor to the rest of the world. I wish you were never born.”

Tears stream down Stan’s face, “Stanford I’m sorry-“

“Goodbye Stanley, I truly hope this is the last time we ever speak.”

At 25 years old Stanley Caryn Pines is found dead in the drivers seat of his car. Cause of death: overdose. The picture of two young boys, his real ID, and a paper with a phone number are buried nearby.

Ford wakes feeling both refreshed and utterly exhausted. He smacks his lips as he gets up from his bed and walking over to his desk to find the new notes Bill wrote for him. A smile creeps up on his face as he begins a new day ready to work.

I have a slight stutter in one language, but not the other. I dunno why, I dunno if there’s something psychological behind it, I dunno if it’s a physical thing, whatever. Point is, what if Stan stutters in English, but not Spanish?

He goes out of the states and becomes more successful. He likes it, likes being seen as normal and being looked at without pity or derision. Eventually he gets back to the states to escape Rico, but he stays in southern New Mexico so that people still understand him when he can’t manage to speak in English.

Maybe this causes him to bond with Soos, being able to speak both the languages the kid does. With Soos, he can speak normally (that is to say, in Spanish). Wendy even manages to pick up some Spanish from them when she starts working at the shack.

The same thing that happened with Wendy happens to the little twins. They pick up Spanish from Soos and Stan, and both decide to teach the kids a bit of it.

This all leads up to Ford getting out of the portal, and punching Stan. His twin tries stuttering something out, before giving up and speaking in rapid fire Spanish. Everyone else also starts arguing with each other in Spanish. Ford checks his equipment. He’s in his original dimension, that’s for sure.

You hurt me I hurt you

Stanley keeps all of jimmys clothes, he fights the urges of wearing them, and falling asleep in jimmys leather jacket every night, he fights the urge of taking his favorite shirt and putting it on a pillow so he can trick himself into thinking he’s still there. He fights the urge because he’s scared of ruining them, jimmys smell fading away (watching it fade away the same way he saw the light fade away in jimmys eyes), he scared of dirtying his clothes his his grossness. So Stan keeps everything in a box. He doesn’t allow himself the comfort of his lovers belongings, not after everything.

Then years go by and Stan gets consumed by more guilt (ford falls through the portal and once again Stan spirals because why does he keep doing this to every person he loves? Why does he keep hurting them, killing them)

Then weirdmaggedon happens, the memory gun, and for the first time in decades, Stanley pines hasn’t thought about Jimmy, or the box he keeps tightly secured in his closet.

"You want....me? To teach?" He pointed to himself, glancing at the paper he had been asked to sign, trying to read the unnecessarily long paragraphs quickly so he doesnt appear more dumb than he- like he actually is. Damn were the letters blurry.

"Yes" the teacher before him smiles kindly and he squints in return. Suspicious...

"We noticed how you interact with the...special children-"

"The autistic kid?"

"I...yes. We have noticed you have quite the way with the children who need special attention" the teacher went on "and would like you to hire to teach them"

"Of course" Stanley can't help but scoff, as if being a homeless criminal wasnt enough to put his family's name down (its not their fault- wait- do the people here know hes a homeless criminal?) "I dont even have a- what? Teaching degree?"

"You will be receiving one!" The teacher scrambled to say and pointed to a section of the contract, Stan was glad he couldn't focus on a single point, it helped him read "and we will be accommodating, of course-" ah, so they did know he was homeless "and although it may take a bit from your salary we help with other things...such as eye care..?"

Stan looked up, still squinting from trying to read the tiny letters.

"How much of the salary?"
