Max is like, 5 and he gets dragged along to a party by his parents. The party is for retired drivers or something like that.

They walk up to him and-

“Are you a girl?” Max blurts it out as soon as the person is close enough and the person immediately goes bright red.

“What! No- I’m a boy.” The boy huffs, embarrassed. “I- whatever. My father wanted me to ask you if you’d want to come play with me or something, since this isn’t really fun for a kid.”

Long seconds go by and finally he speaks again.

“…I’m Nico.” He says slowly, giving Max a confused a look.

“Mm… that’s a pretty name.” Max declares firmly before starting to walk in a random direction to try and find Nico’s room. (Nico would be impressed if he knew the way right?)

“Thank you..?” Nico says quietly from behind him.

Anyways, they go up to Nico’s room and Nico lets Max play with some toy cars. Then Max sees a picture of Lewis and Nico.

“Is he your boyfriend?” Max blurts out.

“You’re just full of questions, aren’t you?” Nico mutters. “No, he’s not my boyfriend.”

“Are you married?” Max asks immediately after.

“I’m 17, no, I’m not married.” Nico sighs.

“Good, because I’m your future husband. Okay?” Max says firmly.

“…what?” Nico blinks.

“You need to promise. Or else… I’ll cry and tell your dad you hit me.”

“Promise what??” Nico says, fucking confused.

“Promise that you’ll marry me when we’re older!” Max says bluntly. “I’ll be a great husband! I’ll… I’ll win the championship for you a bunch! Like, a bunch!”

“Oh yeah?” Nico teases softly.

“If I win 5 championships, you have to marry me.” Max finally decides on.

“Why five?” Nico asks.

“Because that’s the age I met you, obviously.”

“Okay.” Nico hums, getting down to one knee before speaking in a mock serious tone. “I, Nico Rosberg, promise that when you win your fifth championship, I’ll marry you.”

“Do I get a kiss? That’s what married people do!” Max says.

Nico raises an eyebrow and lets out a chuckle, before bending to Max’s hair and givint it a soft kiss.

“That’s not where married people kiss!” Max whines, pouting.

“You haven’t won your 5 championships yet.” Nico says, getting up with a grin.

okay okay, so hear me out (this is no kids au but i will be making an omegaverse kids au of this at some point):

Nico has been single since the 2016 break up and Jenson has finally had enough of his hot ass friend being banged like once a year when he's drunk enough.

So Max and Nico date for a while but Max can very much still tell Nico is in love with Lewis (something nico has never tried to hide, and was very honest with Max about)

- max loves seeing Nico in expensive clothes. He also loves seeing Nico in his hoodies, except nico refuses to wear redbull merch. For that reason, Max specifically bought himself nice quality hoodies so nico would take them.

- they fuck like actual wild animals. max's back is covered in scratches. nico is bruised and bite-covered. people have actually asked nico if he's being abused before and hes had to be like 'in the way you mean? no' '???'

- Max has long accepted that Nico will always be in love with Lewis. Nico told him that before they started dating. 'do you really want a broken old man who's still in love with his old teammate?' what max doesnt know? nico has grown to love him just as much as he loves Lewis.

- Max will sometimes just drop obsessed teen max lore 'yeah one time when i was 16 i managed to come like 7 times in one night to pictures of you' and nico is like 'max, why would i ever want to know that' 'dont you want to know how much i loved you ):' 'BY TELLING ME YOU HAD A GOONING MARATHON TO ME???'

- If Max is horny and asks Nico and he's annoyed, then its perfectly fine to annoy him for sex. But, if max asks and nico just says a quiet 'im not in the mood, sorry.' or even just apologizes because of not wanting to, red flags. Max runs around trying to fix nico's issues with tea and panic
