I stand in the nursery, laying out the soft pink onesie and matching knee socks on the bed. She waits on the fluffy rug exactly as I left her after diapering her some minutes ago, following me with those obedient eyes.

By now, she has gotten used to diapers. By now, she doesn’t fuss when things don’t go her way. And she doesn’t move—she has no reason to. I pause to stroke her cheek; she turns her whole face toward my touch as if she could drink from it.

She stays perfectly still because she is just a baby now. Babies don’t dress themselves. They don’t choose what touches their skin or how they look for Daddy. They wait—exactly like this—for me to come and take care of it.

What a fun way to start off our Thursday! Baby June back in the daycare after being dropped off in her cute matching onesie and booties. She is thickly padded underneath and ready to play with teddy in the nursery.
