Poster for an 1823 play adaptation of Frankenstein which Mary Shelley actually saw! She apparently didn’t think much of the story changes but liked the acting (esp. Thomas Potter Cooke as the Creature) and had fun watching overall.

I’ve seen some homoerotically charged art of the Creature before, but hoo boy does this take the cake. Flirty smile, looking like a Greek god, tiddies out, looks like he’s patting the space next to him for who I’m presuming is Victor (in Hamlet-esque booty shorts no less) to cuddle up next to him...I dare someone to try to put a hetero spin on this. Come on, it even almost looks like the Creature’s using his left hand to slide up his skirt to show more thigh.

Fun bit of trivia, this play is where Fritz, the prototype for Igor, came from.

For those of you who wanna quickly lock all of your works (as in, prevent people who don’t have accounts on Ao3 from reading them), you can!

Go to your Works tab, click on Edit Works, and it should take you to a page that looks like this:

Click that ALL button to select everything, then EDIT and it’ll take you to a new page. Scroll ALLLLLLL the way down to here and select “only show to registered users” in the Visibility section. Then click save and PRESTO! One additional step of security for your works, at least until AO3 decides what to do with it bc hooooooooo boy this could get sticky with legality.
