Caving to MAGA hardliners, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said the U.S. House will pass the SAVE America Act, President Donald Trump’s massive voter suppression bill, “one more time” through a budget reconciliation process. “The big urgency is to get SAVE America passed,” Johnson told Fox News Sunday. “The president has that as a top priority, and so do I.” His announcement came a day after Trump used his Independence Day speech to again call for the bill’s passage, presenting it as a means to end nonexistent election fraud. But the bill has repeatedly stalled in the U.S. Senate — and still appears to lack the votes to pass. Johnson’s approach would attempt to overcome that problem by including the SAVE America Act in a budget reconciliation bill. That “will be the way to get it through the Senate and finally to the president’s desk,” he said. 

But despite the speaker’s confidence, the reconciliation push would almost certainly fail in the Senate because the chamber has strict rules about what can be included in budget bills. It wouldn’t be the first unsuccessful attempt to ram the bill through. In recent weeks, far-right lawmakers have paralyzed the House floor through a legislative blockade in support of the bill.  Meanwhile, Trump has relentlessly pressured congressional Republicans to get the voter suppression package to his desk in time for the upcoming midterm elections, as he’s said he believes it will improve the GOP’s slim chances of retaining control of the House. 

What if the children go to schools unafraid of tear gas and bullets?

What if the birds come back, and the bees are healed, and every species moves from endangered, to threatened, to thriving?

What if the rainforest ADVANCES?

What if every parking lot had solar panels? What if every structure had solar panels? What if we built climbing gyms and terraced gardens in the skeletons of old coal power plants?

What if you baked your neighbor bread, and they shared their home-grown blackberries?

What if every person who needed a home, had one? What if every person who needed healing was healed?

What if every body was treasured for what it was, not what it should be?

What if every trans child's parents attended their graduation, their wedding, their new-name-day?

What if every warehouse became a closed-circle repair station? Goods flowing out, and back, and out again? What if landfills started to SHRINK?

What if the water and air were clean? What if there was enough public transit that the cars dwindled, leaving the streets safe for kids on bikes, evening deer, midnight cats and foxes?

What if we win?

So, in terrible news, Trump's trying to pull some strings to pass this massive internet censorship bill, featuring all the kinds of internet censorship we're terrified of, including mandatory ID for accessing basically any website, specifically to crush state regulation of AI, because apparently this man will always see the moral bottom of the barrel and start digging.

5calls was supposed to make the calling process easier but you don't actually have to only call representatives from your own state, and its actually really important that you don't stick to your own state. just google a list of the members of congress & senate, google their contact info, and call as many of them as you have time and energy for.

"Secure Borders UK" is now an official TikTok account where they brag about deportation numbers. Plans to convert large builds into immigration housing centres to get asylum seekers out of hotels. Buildings not built for humans to live in, but for storage, or livestock. Not. People.

They are demonising ethnic minorities, labelling car washes, nail salons, barber shops as immigrant hot spots, infamously working class occupations. They're going after the minorities, then the poor people, then anyone and everyone else.

Reform, Nigel Farage has vowed to leave the European Convention on Human Rights if he becomes Prime Minister. You learn about the ECHR when you are fourteen, it is part of your Citizenship GCSE, because it is a vital foundation of our human rights. Without it, there is nothing stopping us from losing all humanity, all liberty, all basic human decency, and humane treatment.

The Digital ID Kier Starmer keeps pushing is only the next step in the surveillance state the technically illiterate politicians keep pushing, and it is dangerous for a multitude of reasons, but at it's core is that they do not understand technology, yet are integrating it at speeds that will devastate our country. It's kept quiet, but you can find evidence of several data leaks, hacks, and releases just in the past few months.

Kemi Badenoch is a puppet for the Conservatives. They do not care that she is a Black woman beyond gaining favor from Black voters. None of the ethnic minority politicians are going to save you, they are defecting to Reform or actively campaigning for laws that will oppress you.

We are rapidly mirroring America's political climate. This next election is not between Labour and the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats and UKIP don't stand a chance. Tactical voting has been employed for decades now, playing between Labour and Conservatives. Now it is between the Green Party, and Reform. Don't believe the propaganda—the Greens aren't going to tax you, their harsher economic policy is aimed at the billionaires. You don't have to agree with their policies, but it is between environmental conservation, or largescale violation of human rights.

Open your eyes.

If you don't want to be like America, like Minnesota, like Minneapolis, protesting in the streets, hiding your neighbours, watching people be kidnapped in broad daylight irregardless of citizenship, then pull your head out of the sand.

Political apathy, voter apathy is a thing of the past.

The average person is not capable of understanding or knowing the extent of the evil we face. If you knew the whole of it you would go insane.

It’s literally us or them and that is the only logical conclusion to reach here.

This bill has passed the House and is going to the Senate. The only thing we can do is call and email our senators; calling/emailing is how you can make your voice heard against bad internet bills. Don’t say “it’s unconstitutional, it can’t pass.” They’ve passed unconstitutional legislation before, especially when no action was taken.

The godforsaken KIDS act has flown right through the House like a knife through butter and is heading for Senate next!

Now it's time to take the fight to the Senate, call your senators, and... You know what?

But it’s also known that there’s a less of a chance of it passing because of the senate want of a “duty of care” version of Kosa

Hackers are literally taking advantage of these age verfication laws to steal information.

If you can bring this up to your reps with screenshots/printed pictures for anti age verification letters/emails or just tell them this is happening, at least. This is SUPER important to mention to them!

They basically want the duty of care part, but “Some House members have raised concerns that it could incentivize social media platforms to overzealously censor content to avoid litigation.”

The senates version does have the duty of care

What you are going to do when you call your reps tonight, tomorrow, and every day after is leverage the fact that neither Congress or the Senate agree on KOSA.

Tell your congressperson that multiple people in the Senate already want to shoot it down because of KOSA and that there is no point pushing something unpopular that senators already want to shoot down.

Tell your senator that other senators plan to shoot it down because of KOSA. That KOSA means nothing as it is (word that better than me) and all that it can be is a national security risk because let's be real, at worst that's what SCREEN is.

Within the next week, Congress is preparing to vote on the KIDS Act, a sprawling package of legislation that seeks to control Americans’ web browsing and private messaging. The package includes a revised version of the Kids Online Safety Act, or KOSA, combined with a collection of other internet bills, study bills, reporting requirements, and new regulations. Instead of debating any of these proposals on their merits, lawmakers are attempting to move them all at once under an ultra-expedited process. 

The KIDS act is under consideration for next weeks house vote. Which will be happening Monday at the earliest

It seems that the KIDS act will be “Legislation considered under suspension of the Rules”

This basically means

“Under suspension, floor debate is limited, all floor amendments are prohibited, points of order against the bill are waived, and final passage requires a two-thirds majority vote.”

The reason why it’s happening as soon as Monday is because it’s under suspension and “Under the rules of the 119th Congress, motions for suspension of the rules are allowed only on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays”

Under suspension is usually done to quickly pass bills “ which enjoy broad, bipartisan support.”
