Fans harassed Dana Terrance for confirming Frankie as a cisgender woman; for Kei Urana, it was because she said she was disinterested in shipping. JJK fans were threatening to harm Gege Akutami for killing off Gojo, and BNHA fans harassed Kohei Horikoshi for making Izuocha canon.

I mean, this is because we actually get to SEE Jax’s fate after the abstraction took place and the remainder of the film focuses on him. Everyone else just existed to die and mind you, Jax pushed two of those people on this list to abstract in the first place! Kaufmo, Ribbit, and Queenie’s abstractions don’t feel “as sad” to a lot of the audience because they were just fridges to the development to a main character, rather than their own people we get to see from their own perspectives of dealing with depression and eventually taking their own life.

Now, I think traumascaling abstraction (suicide) is already shitty enough as it is but Jax being voted the highest with a landslide IS a result of the favoritism unfortunately. Unlike everyone else, we get to actually SEE his point of view because of the amount of screentime he was given, while it being framed the most serious and melancholic out of everyone else who had abstracted. It’s not just because he’s a main character but because the show deliberately gives more sympathy to this character than anyone else.

Just wanna know your opinion on this. Personally, I feel like it generalizes the people who dislike Jax as a character.

"isn't perfect" "pushes people away" "bullies someone" see how they still refuse to call her what she is? "you can't handle complex characters!" and they can't even call an abuser an abuser.

this has always been the argument of fans who don't want to take a moment to understand why their favorite blorbo is being criticised. it's not about moral complexity or flaws. it's about the framing and narrative.

there are plenty of morally grey, complex and flawed trans characters who are still well-written. i've already talked about Alice Dyer from TMAGP (highly recommend, for those who haven't heard of it!) and there's also Lake from Infinity Train, who's not canonically trans (likely due to restrictions) but is very heavily nb/trans-coded.

both these characters are flawed and complex but the difference is that their actions are not justified or glorified by the narrative. in any situation where they've hurt people, it's not played off as a joke.

there's also, of course, the matter of stereotypes too. surely Gooseworx, as a trans woman, should know about the false stereotypes and propaganda trans people, transfems especially, get saddled with. especially in this political climate, it is just extremely tone deaf to create a trans character who is openly an abuser who sexually harasses her victims i.e. cis women.

it's not that trans characters can't be flawed or portray any negative emotions. it's just about being wary of what you write. Jax almost feels like an offensive caricature of trans woman, and the fact that the finale doubled down on this by showing her having sexual fantasies of Gangle is just inexcusable.

it's the same with any stereotypes. it's fine to write flawed black characters, but making them the typical "aggressive black man" or "angry black woman" is questionable. it's okay to write asian characters who are soft-natured but if you veer too much into the "submissive asian" archetype, that's problematic.

Gave her some more fat and more fashion sense, now she has a creepy-cute goth sorta moment with goop-drip imagery.

Also I had a person forever ago express that they were sad her mobility aids were gone, and honestly I agree, so they're back along with her leg braces. She's still super corrosive, tho! Her metal bracers are just mystic to resist her body's acidity. When she's cloaked, her body retains the ability to split apart. She has to take off her bracers if she wants to melt something tho cus they dampen that ability. She can hug and stuff if she wants <33

And oooh maybe it's Casey Jr who notices that she's an alien, he has more experience. Although he only has Kraang experience, so maybe not? Questions, questions...

I’ll probably do some art eventually on how each of them individually meet/find out about her but for now here are each of their first impressions.

🧡: Mikey was actually the first to find out about sluggy (not the fact she’s an alien tho). At first he was worried about Leo sneaking out and not telling any of them where he was going, but when he found out Leo was hanging out with a friend he was happy to let it slide seeing as it would be good for Leonardo’s emotional recovery from the invasion. When they met Mikey was a little weirded out by her actions but soon warmed up to her after finding out that she loves eating! If he ever has leftovers or scraps she’s the first one to call.

💜: Donnie was the second to find out. While leo could lie perfectly fine, Mikey isn’t so good. When Leo had reluctantly introduced them donnie was a bit skeptical but nothing too bad, though he didn’t like how much she tended to interrupt him. This gets worse after they find out she’s an alien. Donnie takes the longest to warm up to Sluggy but once he does he won’t stop trying to run tests on her. Leo doesn’t let her go in the lab alone anymore…

❤️: Raph doesn’t know what to think when he meets Sluggy. She’s nice and doesn’t seem dangerous but she’s new and came out of nowhere. After the invasion Raph got a little less trusting so he tried to find out about her past but nothing came up. After it’s revealed Sluggy is an alien he quickly gets defensive but soon finds out she’s not a threat seeing how attached she is to Leo. They eventually become close and he welcomes her to the group. Sluggy is a little too easy to trick so Raph often keeps her out of trouble when there together. It also gives him an excuse to crochet more sweaters seeing as Sluggy doesn’t have much of a wardrobe.

💛: April is the doesn’t think much of Sluggy at first, and doesn’t see why Donnie has such a problem with her. She doesn’t interact much with Sluggy but is able to see pretty early on that she isn’t a threat in anyway (especially after seeing her get tangled in her own arms). After the reveal that she’s an alien April is a bit worried at first but is quickly reminded that Sluggy isn’t a threat (she got stuck in a trashcan) and Leo seemed to genuinely trust her. April also helped donnie warm up to Sluggy.

💚: Casey thinks it’s great that Leo was making friends outside of their family and covers for Leo on nights when he sneaks out. He doesn’t remember her from the future but a lot had changed since they succeeded in stopping the invasion. However after it’s revealed that she’s an alien Casey immediately changes this attitude. He becomes genuinely uncomfortable around her and avoid any interaction they could have. Casey is still warming up to her but is finding it easy to bond over their lack of knowledge about their new home.
