just recently found out about "p-pop" basically pilipino pop.. well anyway here is a playlist for anyone who is interested it actually sounds good though i hate to say it
what i got from my research is that basically new bands are influenced by k-pop and j-pop (which are popular among the filipino teenagers) drawing less inspiration from western genres. also some of then actually trained under korean trainers as well :o
i wasn't sure if i should add ben&ben and iv of spades since they aren't really promoted as a p-pop but hmm it's still filipino but they just doesn't have that k-pop and j-pop influence.

okay this is a very serious topic, considering my page is filled with smut. but i want to speak out my opinion on this (and a very late one if i may add).
the problem with "filipinx"
let's start with what made this whole term happen: latinx.
latinx is a gender neutralized coinage. the "x" doesn't specify a gender in particularâunlike the "o"(masculine) and "a" (feminine) from the spanish language.
now that i've explained latinx to you, let's talk about what's wrong with filipinx.
filipino/tagalog is the most used language out of the other 175 languages from the philippines. some spanish speakers may tend to understand a few words when they glance at a filipino sentence and that is because some words were borrowed from the spanish language from the 333 year colonization.
take the word "school" for example.
in spanish, it's "escuela," or "colegio"
in filipino, it's "eskuwela" or "kolehiyo
assuming you understood the previous paragraph,
what is wrong with "filipinx"?
well, many things.
filipino is already a gender neutral language. that's one thing i love about my language, even if you aren't particularly referring to a male, female, it doesn't sound offensive to the queer community.
"he/she" is "siya."
"brother/sister" is "kapatid"
"husband/wife" is "asawa"
once translated into filipino, the gendered terms are already neutral in the first place.
why would you use "filipinx" instead of "filipino" or "pinoy"?
yes, "filipina" or "pinay" is mainly used to refer to girls, but it is still optional. but you can still use filipino to refer to girls (because its fucking gender neutral). but using the term "filipinx" is almost like erasing our country's culture. because the letter "x" doesn't even exist in the filipino alphabet. it's not even in baybayin (native writing system).
i'd get why "latinx" is used, becauseâif i'm not mistakenâthe letter is in the language.
and finally, yes i'm confirming i am indeed filipino. and as a born and raised filipino, i am asking you to just stop it. right fucking now.
stop trying to force western standards to our country and culture, or language. white people are already being idolized in our country everywhere. the philippines has been colonized again and again and again, and if you don't know about that then please pick up a history book and realize that we were colonized by spain for 333 years and the united states by 48 years, only to finally receive our independence after 5 failed attempts.
i'm proud to be filipino. you can hate me all you want but that won't change my ethnicity.
and other than that, i speak 5 languages, i can curse you in all of them if you ever disrespect me.
loob literally means inside but in this context it's focuses on feelings. sometimes you can find "sa" anf "ng" being used instead of "ang" although all of it depends on the context so in a way they can be used interchangeably as they convey the same meaning. (lakas ng loob, lakas sa loob | hina ng loob, hina sa loob)
malakas ang loob
lit. matapang | brave, courageous
"siguro kung malakas ang loob ko, kami na." if only i were more courageous we would've already been dating
mahina ang loob
lit. duwag | coward, weak
"kapag mahina ang loob ko, nagdadasal ako sa diyos na palakasin niya ang loob ko" when i feel weak, i pray to god for him to make be feel stronger
masama ang loob
lit. nagdaramdam | resentful, upset
"bakit ba masama ang loob mo sakin?" why are you upset at me?
mabigat ang loob
lit. malungkot, matabang ang loob | low in spirits, heavy hearted, bitter hearted
"matutulog nanaman ako na mabigat ang loob" i'll be sleeping again feeling unhappy

Iâve been itching to share this for a while now. My last project was Cinderella, and since thereâs already one version of Cinderella for Far Faria, I decided to do a Filipino version version just to mix it up.Â
If using it for speech, it's fine to use them interchangeably since they mean the same - "may" is a shortened version of "mayroon/meron."
When using it for written text, "may" is used if it is followed by a noun, verb, and adjective, or generally longer words. So, for your sample sentence it's gonna be:
May damo at mga tanim na bulaklak sa aking hardin. (I added "tanim na" as modifier to mean "plants.")
"Meron" (spelled as how it is pronounced colloquially or when using casual language) or "Mayroon" (the correct spelling used for written texts and when using less casual langiage) is used if it is followed by short words or what we call mga kataga in Filipino like na, ba, and pronouns.
Mayroon nang damo at mga bulaklak ang aking hardin. (My garden already has grass and flowers. Literal: There are grass and flowers in my garden already.)
Mayroon akong mga tanim na bulaklak sa aking hardin.
If transforming your sentence in question form where ba is used:
Mayroon bang mga tanim na bulaklak ang iyong hardin? (Do you have flowers in your garden?)

it's funny when marcos apologists are so confident to downplay the victims' traumatic experiences until they are faced with actual victims. i remember having some friends from my office over and it was the first time we spoke about politics and i found out that two of them were marcos apologists and kept saying "ang oa lang minsan yung mga sinasabi ng mga tao." until one other person came late, who was of age already, and she didn't know these 2 people were marcos apologists and started telling all of us her experience in ilo-ilo during that decade when her house was raided and they took her brother in the middle of the night. she still recalls how terrified she was and hates the marcos family to her core. the two marcos apologists who sat with us listened and stayed quiet and didn't argue with her at all while she was telling us about what happened to her in the 70s when she was a little girl. i don't know if their minds changed. but i hate that it takes something traumatic or horrible to happen to someone close to you or you for people to become empathic. if you start seeing things in first person instead of having someone else's story become completely one sided, you might actually learn a thing or two.

if you like urban fantasy i strongly recommend starting netflixâ new animated series trese. it is set in the philippines and was created by filipino writers complete with an all-filipino voice cast as well, including manny jacinto and shay mitchell in voice acting roles.
i really liked it and itâs got a cool feel of adult animation thatâs not âall sex all the timeâ. if you liked castlevania youâll probably like it.
