When I talk about the value of work vs. the wages the worker gets, this is exactly what Iâm talking about. And today, more of that value winds up going to the shareholders than even the business owners.

Too good to stay on twitter
Tesla cars are shoddily built pieces of shit liable to fall apart and malfunction in dangerous ways at inopportune moments. No, this is not
A Tesla driver has brought his wife's Model 3 in for servicing because the power steering ceased operating after the car went over a normal speed bump. The service manager (note that Tesla, unlike other car manufacturers, owns and operates all of its dealerships, so the workers there are Tesla employees) identifies the culprit: A system component has become corrodedâprobably, he says, because the car went through a car wash. The repairs will cost $4,400. The driver observes, reasonably, that he has never heard of a car's wiring being damaged by simply taking it through a car wash.
Reuters did a huge receipts-padded article on the grifting operation that is Tesla, that they have been knowingly selling shoddy, defective, dangerous cars. Then, when those shitty cars break within the first few hundred miles, Tesla blames the owner for "abuse" and won't honor the warranty.

An eruption has started near the evacuated town of GrindavĂk in southwest Iceland. No person is thought to be in direct danger as it is. Top picture is from Hofsvallagata in ReykjavĂk, looking a bit ominous in the sky like stranger things from the eruption glow. Bottom picture is from ĂgisĂða in ReykjavĂk, by the ocean looking to the south west towards GrindavĂk and the eruption
bisan has just posted a video that israel has lit up the sky, signalling they will bomb tonight, and that she has nowhere to go. she is in khan yunis--the south, where she was told to go to.
you can hear planes overhead as she speaks.
she wants israel to finally admit the truth--they do not want palestinians to go to "safe" parts of gaza, they want people to leave entirely and recreate the 1948 nakba.
please spread the word, please keep bisan in your thoughts, and do not let this happen in silence.
now this is happening to Motaz
I am so worried.
It is 12:20pm EST on 12/04/23.
Bisan posted an instagram story an hour ago of bombing near the largest functioning hospital left in the gaza strip.
And Motaz is currently running for his life.
Please, please keep on their accounts. Do what you can--spread the word, contact your government, go to protests.
pls tell me what ur great grandparents did for a living in the tags if u know... mine were dairy farmers, bakery workers and a security guard lol
i love this post bc 99 percent of people are saying like "farmers" and then occasionally you get "hobbyist accupuncturist and academic who disappeared in siberia"

a great thing about people transitioning is it presents us with scenarios where we have the perfect control variable to undeniably reveal sexism in the workplace. I read about a trans man neuroscientist who was told he was âso much smarter than his sisterâ (his sister being his pre-transition self)
and damn i knew the gaming industry was notoriously sexist (even more sexist than other stem fields, and thatâs saying a lot) but seeing it laid out so clearly like this is so demoralizing.
Ben Barres was that neuroscientist
Barres has been discussed a lot by my peers, and is generally considered an icon for people like me. And his biting statements on sexism are a HUGE part of that. I donât have much to say other than yes, itâs a big problem and still is.
This is heartbreaking
It didn't. Israel is releasing Palestinian prisoners who were convicted of crimes and who were in jail. Whether you believe those people received a fair trial or not is totally a different issue, but Israel did not have "Palestinian hostages" sitting around.
If you actually read the news you'd know that.
Like, here is Al Jazeera, even saying this fact:
Thirty-nine Palestinian women and children were released from Israeli jails on Friday during a pause in fighting.
I'm so glad an Israeli court rubber-stamping things makes them not hostages. Just like the Israeli court saying the IDF can detain people in military institutions to decrease the likelihood of attack means they're no longer "human shields".
Just to quote that article:
âThe main alleged crime for these detentions is stone-throwing, which can carry a 20-year sentence in prison for Palestinian children,â said a report published in July by childrenâs rights organisation, Save the Children. ...
There are 19 prisons within Israel and one inside the occupied West Bank holding Palestinian prisoners. Before October 7, there were about 5,200 Palestinians in Israeli custody. However, following the Hamas attack of October 7, the number of Palestinians arrested skyrocketed and 3,000 more were arrested.
It's kind-of sad that it's so easy to get you to engage in pedantry that you will go out of your way to find a source, send someone that source, and then not even read the 774 word article (removing the names of the prisoners).
That is barely more than one page.
And I know you didn't read it, because if you did you'd have seen that picture above.
You'd have seen more than 2,200 administrative detainees held without charge or trial.
You would have seen:
Some Palestinian prisoners have been in Israeli jails for more than 30 years, since before the Oslo Accords were signed. The term âdeans of prisonersâ is sometimes locally used to refer to them, reported Samidoun, an international Palestinian prisoner solidarity network. At least 700 Palestinian children under the age of 18 from the occupied West Bank are prosecuted every year through Israeli military courts after being arrested, interrogated and detained by the Israeli army.
But like, nah, nevermind. You're happy to say shit that your source directly and immediately goes on to say isn't true, because you found an Al Jazeera article calling them "prisoners" instead of "hostages", so you're right.
Obviously. Everyone who disagrees with you is just stupid and ill-informed.
It's not like they're explicitly referencing the thing the article you posted talks about, that you didn't even bother to read.
I haven't seen anyone on tumblr talking about this, so I thought I would share this news:
The AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) has abruptly fired Wanda Nanibush, their curator of Indigenous Art, with a leaked letter citing that the complaint against her was her "dedication to repeating that Israel is involved with genocide and colonialism"
The organization making a complaint against her is the Toronto-based organization, Israel Museum and Arts, Canada. They say that their request was for Nanibush to take sensitivity training and retract her comments, rather than for her to be removed from her position. The AGO says that it was a mutual decision between them and Nanibush to end her employment there - Nanibush has declined to comment. She joined the AGO in 2016 as its first curator of Indigenous Art.
The extent of Nanibush's commentary on Palestine and Israel seems to be some social media posts, which are now deleted, and a 2016 article she wrote where she linked Canadian colonization to the experience of Palestinians under Israel.
Interestingly enough, the other articles from that magazine issue are all accessible online, but hers isn't - I don't know if it was taken down recently or not.
