If I may inquire, why does your dear sweet idiot baby boy like bringing you woims so much?
Some mysteries are not meant to be solved
I translated the Ea-Nasir complaint into vulcan and engraved it in on a cooper plate
The tumblrest sentence I have ever seen
Please return us to a world where Notp and squick are used for a ship you donāt like instead of just making up a load of bullshit about how immoral it is or w/e lolĀ
a short selection of concepts and phrases that used to be commonplace in fandom and weād really benefit from making that a thing again:
NOTP: the opposite of an OTP (One True Pairing). It is a ship a fan strongly dislikes. The word is a portmanteau of ānoā and āOTPā and thus is not a contraction of any particular phrase.
Squick: anything that is a deep-seated, visceral turn-off. Squicks may be shared by many fans or be specific to one; one personās kink may be another personās squick.
YKINMKATO, or kink-tomato: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And Thatās Okay: used to indicate support for fannish diversity and to distinguish between disapproval or kink shaming and simply having different taste.
DLDR: Donāt Like, Donāt Read: a phrase used to warn against complaints about an aspect of fic or meta. A ālive and let liveā philosophy of fandom, which places the responsability for avoiding content one doesnāt want to see on the side of the fanwork consumer, rather that on the creatorās.
SALS: Ship And Let Ship: similar to the above specifically about shipping tastes.
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary: a phrase used to acknowledge that any given individualās personal opinion on the topic at hand may differ due to their own tastes, standards, values, experiences, etc.
As the OP points out, all of these crucially imply no moral judgment of what theyāre designing.
(definitions lifted more or less wholesale from fanloreās relevant pages)
bring the healthy fun back to fandom!
Would be niceā¦

Strongly and intentionally ignoring all the bullshit that happened in the middle, it's actually probably a very good thing my mom and dad aren't living retired life together, because my mom's version of retired life that she's currently happily living is waking up, having coffee near the lake, then reading and playing iPad games for 14 hours with the dog asleep nearby. And my dad's version of retired life is I get a text from him with a picture of 1,000,000 hot air balloons in the sky with a caption like "At the New Mexico Hot Air Balloon Festival š" which is a thing that clearly sprung into existence just for this text
Retired dads will text you like āMeeting your tumblr followers at the New Mexico Hot Air Balloon Festival šā like you were just supposed to know thatās a thing
love the genre of discourse thatās like āthe world used to be [thing it never was] but now society is [Iām over thirty]ā

jellyfish have to be kept in a round tank because if they're in a tank with corners they'll get stuck in them. I think that's beautiful. god's stupidest little plastic bags (affectionate)
Also when being bred in captivity(this is done at my work and my job is to teach people about it) to get them to reproduce from the polyp stage of life, we have to intentionally cause them enough stress to reproduce but not enough to harm them. Lately weāve done that by cleaning their habitat extra well, makes them think the word is ending

i dont CARE that its your special interest bitch whats your SOURCE !!!!!!
"source: me ! hahahaš„°" NO !!!!!!! SOURCE: First Name Middle Initiall. Last Name, Name of Book, (City: Publisher, year) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
to paraphrase Brandy Jensen (2024), too often these days I find myself in the position of defending someone I think is annoying for using a different citation style, from someone I know is dangerous for not citing their sources at all

Beautiful dash pull
back in the haselden pits
so there's this old cartoonist i like, WK Haselden right? bit of a born curmudgeon, if you've ever seen those old vintage comics that are like "damn these modern women things used to be better in the 80s! the 1880s that is!!!" thats usually a haselden, maud of the 80s vs gladys of today etc
im forever FASCINATED at all the slice o life satire cartoons he does bc there's like, the regular shit to be grumpy (flappers driving cars, ladies hats are too big etc) about but there's also comics of fads that i could not BEGIN to fathom what it woulda been like to live through them through the eyes of this one dude like
?? was there a live meat/game meat trend in 1906??
this one's captioned "bull fighting up to date" like ????? was there a safety craze amongst bullfighters in '06???
i... i guess this one's mocking vaudeville??? like variety acts where you do a bunch of wild bullshit whilst playing an instrument perhaps?? tf was up in 1921??
man i didnt realize ping pong was such a thing of contention in..... 1922??
OKAY GOT MORE
what the fuck was happening with elopement this year:
bitch you live like this??? 1915 edition. i do like that egg fellow in the corner though
man can't believe we've been making the pride and prejudice and zombies joke this whole time, this one's called "why not a crook drama harlequinade"
yknow you're right they SHOULD breed horses like harvestmen what were we thinking. not sure whats happening with that milk diet tho.
(also i JUST realized that that last comic just invented tailgating a horse derby)
#I have sent this to my gf because people of The Past bitching that things aināt what they used to be is one of her favorite things
Dude I got these from the university of Kent's comic archive, if you search by w k haselden you can experience HUNDREDS of these for free
Oopsies I reblogged this to main

Oat milk was discovered much more recently than you may have known. Like many now-familiar technologies, it was found by accident during the Apollo program when NASA learned what a zero-g environment does to goat milk.
