Hmmm not done ranting about how dirty Dragon Age treats Merrill actually! Because you know what else bothers me? The fact that it's regarded as a dangerous and naïve thing for Merrill to want to rediscover elven history. But when Morrigan wants to do it, she's written as having the grace and confidence that you should support.
I'm not drawing conclusions from nothing btw. Even Charlotte Reber's book, the behind the scenes look at Dragon Age 2, uses Merrill as an example of when it's a "better outcome" to disagree:
"Merrill is easy to befriend by aiding in her personal quest—but her path is one that leads towards tragedy and self-destruction, and supporting her risky decisions can result in the death of not just her mentor, but her entire clan."
—pg. 84
"In fact, Hawke disagreeing with a party member’s actions sometimes arguably leads to the better outcome for everyone involved. In Merrill’s personal quest, for example, helping her repair an ancient elven artifact can result in the deaths of both her mentor and her entire clan."
—pg. 109
(I will reiterate that I can't understand how any of those deaths are Merrill's fault.)

After Lute's attack, Vaggi is resigned to her fate. She may not know what it is, but with the blood on her hands she feels she deserves the worst of it. That is until her fate finds her.

The pain was indescribable, but she tried to keep herself quiet. She was an enemy to both sides now. No matter her mercy, most of the demons would only see her as a weak exorcist. Even if they couldn't kill her, she was too weak to protect herself. The others would see her as a fallen angel. Now, in one act, she was no different to her former sisters than the demons they were killing indiscriminately.
Self-hatred boiled low in her belly. It made the back of her tongue taste like bile. She'd followed them, followed Adam, into how many of these exterminations? How many had she killed before that one, single hellborn child had finally made her see what was right in front of her? How much blood was on her hands?
Distantly, she heard a pair of footsteps approaching her. She tried to cower back against the dumpster she'd fallen against after Lute's attack, but there was no escaping notice.
She opened her remaining eye, her vision blurry and unfocused. It cleared slowly but just enough for the most beautiful sight she'd ever seen.
A woman about her age, gold and red eyes and long blonde hair. She looked concerned, reaching her hand out in a gentle offering. Vaggi knew she was a demon, but the look on her face was one of pure concern. Here was Vaggi, an injured exorcist. Here was this beautiful demon offering help.
Slowly, weakly, with her blood cooling and darkening on her face and hands, she reached up and took her hand.
The demon smiled, her eyes soft as she tucked herself under Vaggi's arm to help support her weight. Her arm wrapped tight and secure around her waist.
"It's okay," she said. "We'll get you somewhere safe. I promise!"
Vaggi leaned into her, a small smile spreading over bloody lips. She felt almost enchanted. She knew it wasn't intentional. This demon wasn't trying to trick or harm her. She knew this intuitively. This demon, this woman, simply wanted to help her.
She leaned her head on her shoulder, closing her remaining eye and placing her trust in this woman she didn't know. She couldn't deny the hope that was blooming in her chest. Maybe being a fallen angel wasn't so bad.

Feel free to comment! If you'd like the specific context for why I'm asking: a fic I'm working on uses past lives and reincarnation. I was thinking about using the MC's dreams to reveal her past life both to her and the audiance.
i just think most of the twilight fandom do not understand bella swan, charlie swan, and renee dwyer as characters at all. this is kind of a vague post because i saw a post i disagree with regarding if bella grew up with charlie and... i don't think charlie would be capable of changing from how he's characterized in the books. charlie swan is a quiet, recluse man who likes to go fishing and watch sports. bella comments she's exactly like charlie at one point in the book, that her being an introvert comes from him. and she IS described as intelligent and independent, and part of that is because she's charlie's daughter in many ways.
i think if bella grew up with charlie, she would RESENT renee because the books make it clear that she had made bella into a mother figure to her and treated her like a friend rather than a daughter. i think if she had to spend summers with renee, she would had to have managed trips because renee simply couldn't. and that would make bella pretty resentful! we know that she is prone to having a bit of a temper.
and i think if she grew up in forks, she'd still fucking hate the rain. some things are just part of you, and i think that kind of preference wouldn't change too much. like, there are people who grew up in the uk who love the sun, so is it really so implausible that bella could still look forward to the sunny and warm days if she grew up in forks?
not only that, she'd clearly still be a bookworm. that wouldn't change either. if she grew up in forks, not that much else would change, except she'd have lived in forks her whole life.
i think that if you remove too many things from bella's character, she ceases to be bella swan.
I can't escape my aroace Edward headcanon. I don't even know when I developed it but it makes too much sense to me. He kind if just reads like he's going through the motions since he "has" to. I don't even ship him with anyone because I quite literally just can't see him with anyone. This is problematic because it screws up my fic ideas.

I feel like more people need to understand that other people can be aware of political news and be taking political action without posting about it or talking to you about it, "why is nobody talking about X", "fascinating how so many people are silent about Y" idk I don't use social media to have nuanced political discussions and share political news
I'm working on my vampire lore and would like to gather some opinions.
The way I have my lore set up, it makes sense for there to be both turned and pureblood/born vampires. Where I'd like opinions is on the concept itself.
How do you feel about the concept of born vampires?
