I think lyle is the kind of person to be constantly justifying his actions in his head all the time and sometimes he freaks himself out about it.. he understands the things he does are bad but hes also like No its okay because blah blah blah. which then he continues on those actions . but that is also because he is an impulsive person

(this is lowkey red headcanon territory sorry) lyle used to be like a fairly normal guy when he was younger but over time his mental health began to deteriorate and he started developing mental illness.. his crush on sam was like any average crush in the beginning but he started to see sam as a muse for his hobby (photography) which then sparked his obsession, sam losing his job AND lyle being turned into The Giant Enemy Spider only made him and the obsession worse.. ough
