We made it. We were right. We stan the right pairing. Our OTP is the closest to becoming canon. I’ve only been on this ship for 1 and a half year but I’m proud of us. All of us who spoke up for this fam. All of us who contributed thoughts and ideas, metas and analysis, fanarts, and fanfics. All of us who’ve been so supportive, and all of us in the back who stood by GinTae until the final chapter. We are small, we were silenced, but in the end we thrived.

I >>>LITERALLY<<< dropped my phone when I saw this. ABSOLUTELY DID NOT SEE IT COMING. When Tae left Shoyou and the kids all I thought was she gonna get help from Kyubei and co. But then she suddenly just appeared and surprised us LIKE THIS! To save Gintoki! To help him get to his father! Haters like to say that Tae has no significance in Gintoki’s life, that she’s just there because of Shinpachi… but these past 3 chapters Sorachi has shown us how much she means to Gintoki! The Shinsengumi could’ve helped him through to Shoyou here if Tae wasn’t important… but in the end Gintoki still needs her! Why is that? Because she’s Shinpachi’s sister?

Because Tae is Gintoki’s soulmate, period. They’re meant for each other,  they’re always able to understand each other without words. Sorachi put a huge stress on that when he removed and replaced all the dialogues that we could’ve seen between Gintoki and Tae with Shoyou and Takasugi’s narrations about Gintoki’s future. We don’t need to hear what they’re saying because when it comes to GinTae, action always speaks louder than words. (That brings us back to Benizakura doesn’t it?) Tae brought him his Lake Toya back when he needed it the most. She met with his childhood rival. She met with his father. She was the one who raised his spirit when he was at his limit. She was the one who got to be there and help him face his “teacher” in the end. Haters want all of that for their fave, but Sorachi gave their fantasies to Tae. That’s how special, how important Tae is to Gintoki in the eyes of the author himself, just like all of us Gintaes have been saying.

That zoom in on their hands and Tae’s face! The intensity of this scene! I FELT that. My innards exploded. Sorachi had given Tae and Gintae so many foreshadowings and hints and so much focus in the previous chapters I thought THAT MUST BE IT. That must be all that Sorachi could spare for us GinTaes. I legit wasn’t expecting anymore Gintae moment, especially not something as big as this. It’s the final chapter, more characters to give attention to, so I understood if there was no time for another Gintae moment… I had hopes, wishes, but I also knew it’s Gintama, there couldnt be too much emphasis on serious romantic hints and gestures right? OR IS IT?

I WAS SHOOKETH. I WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY as I delivered the news to our Gintae gc which didn’t even make sense so I had to retry a few times.

Haters will say anything to invalidate this moment. They are already saying that “it’s just a little moment…nothing much to celebrate about….” eventhough this “little moment” got Gintae trending in Japan, even non-gintae shippers were talking and acknowedging it (cos the JP fandom isn’t toxic and full of bitter people). It was obviously a huge deal, and more than deserved to be celebrated. If we discounted the epilogue (which is just a way for Sorachi to return everything to the old Gintama), GinTae is the last thing we see before the ending of Gintama’s main plot with the Yorozuya and Shoyou scene. That’s huge. Imagine when the last three chapters get animated…the amount of focus that’d be given to GinTae…it’ll be BFY all over again. If this happened to the rival ship haters’d be screaming from the rooftops. 

Haters will also try to stomp on us by saying that other female characters have saved Gintoki this way too. That’s true, but don’t forget, those were comedic chapters and the girls had to “lend Gintoki their hands” because Gintoki was there to help them in the first place. This isn’t Tae’s fight. She has nothing to do with Shoyou. Yet she continuously put her life on the line for Gintoki. And that makes this moment even more meaningful just as presented in those panels.

Sorachi had consistently teased us with Gintoki and Tae touching hands, SO MANY TIMES since the first freaking season and ALL of them have a romantic nuance. I had wished…if only Sorachi could let Gintoki and Tae touch hands one last time in the final chapter, and NOT FOR A JOKE, to seal them off as a romantic couple…
