sadly this ended up on the bottom of my favs because it's VERY trance focused. im sure if you love trance you'll have a grand time but that aint me. that said, one of its sublabels, "dreamwave analysis", focuses more on chillout, and oh boy we got some good stuff here! Phaze Zero is bringing contemporary atmospheric dnb and i dig it. check out "Phaze Zero - Reflexions" in particular.
there was a trance-ish song i rather enjoyed too... but the tempo is so slow that im not sure it qualifies. Reactorleak - On The Jazz (chill mix)

this one ranked low because it's obsessed with ambient. dark ambient especially. this is........ fine. but meh.
ocasionally there'll be tunes that knock it out of the park though. fast idio - he made me eat grass is a standout for the entire year, not just this label! that percussion work is next level, and with a chill koto grounding it? ace. Frame also kicked ass with one of the longer releases here, the album "Sons do Lago". check out... maybe "Ethereal" from that? it feels extremely 2002 but in a way that solidifies it in the era instead of being distracting.

despite this being "3rd" in my ranking, i think i'd have to say it's the most professional and timeless sounding. it feels like early ninjatune. it does not feel like amateur musicians at all. listen to "LaShawn - a friend of myself" and try to disagree yk?
that said my fav here was saine. just in general. check out the synthwork in saine - equanimity (resound remix)

this one, however... it's filled with rough edges. amateurish blemishes and trackery artifacts. some of the songs are straight up tracker files "with some extra polish" they say. but by george does it hit just right. the trackery kick beneath the flowing early-00s synths in skyscape - a river in the city!!

this one's all over the place but i want to highlight something rare: first, vocals. second, vocals that i like.
it's shocking to me how well "toby1 - homely" works. yeah it's rough around the edges. quite rough infact. but it reminds me of some of the stuff i hear at FAWM. and beneath that, the swirling vocals are just CHOICE. absurdly good.
for a song that captures the vibe of the era a bit better imo, check out the reverbed chips and chill beats of grandma - strawberry rhubarb oppai
there's also releases from machinedrum, ilkae, secede, sense, and esem. merck veterans. so yeah this label is kinda stacked.
Understated and very funny issue the Catholic Church faces as time goes on: modern saints aren't gonna be depicted in robes or anything like that, they're just gonna be wearing t-shirts
The contemporary fit kinda clashes with the broader church aesthetic
Secondary problem: new saints means it's easier to traffic relics, cause the Church will prioritise parts of their body, meaning if you move fast you can throw things like their smartphone on ebay for a quick buck
I don't know much about the Catholic church, but reading about this kid is kind of wild. He tragically died of Leukemia aged 15, and the reason that he's now been canonized as a saint is, on two separate occasions long after his death, the families of sick people have prayed to him for intercession, and they were miraculously healed. Fair enough, I guess. But in terms of what he was actually able to do in his short life, apart from being very religiously active, wise and discerning beyond his years, one thing I found was that he designed a couple of websites for the church, and as a result has since been dubbed the 'Saint of the Internet' and 'God's Influencer', and is often depicted with a laptop.
And I know it was because of the posthumous 'miracles', but it's fun to imagine a scenario where the Pope made a teenage kid into a Saint for doing some light coding, because nobody at the Vatican was tech-savvy enough to know how to do it.
Isidore of Seville was the UNOFFICIAL patron saint of the Internet for more than twenty years — this raises the interesting idea of some kind of workplace drama among the saints where it was imperative he be blocked from that position for some reason. Or maybe he didn’t want the job & jumped at the chance to pass it off to a new hire.
