is it workplace harassment if I compel my coworkers to behold my cat
Anyway while we're on the topic of the Odyssey if you'd actually like some historically grounded, gritty, and deeply emotional/dramatic epic storytelling, please go read the Witch's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec. You can also listen, and it has a fantastic audiobook.
It is Norse myth, from the perspective of Angrboda, the prophetess of Ragnarok and mother of Fenrir, Jormangund and Hel and Loki's jotunn wife. It fucking rules, will break your heart, and take you on a very intimate journey of myth, identity, love (parent, child, partner and self).
Every new thing i learn about the Odyssey film makes me laugh. They namedrop the Bronze Age?? Are you serious
This whole thing so far appears to be about as serious as the 300 film adaption but with delusions of high art, good lord
So far I gotta say the vibes are basically "cheeto smelling bachelor pad complete with air mattress and dirty socks"
Concept Art of the Iron Lung Creature
Molly Brown, the Creature Concept Artist, has revealed her final designs of the Iron Lung creature, which she calls an eel and said in a comment that her name is Elli.
"First look of the eel and the very first concept I got to work on for Iron Lung! This was the final design, after a few iterations and crazy jaw ideas. She's a thing of beauty and I was absolutely stoked to have the opportunity of bringing her to life! Thank you so much to Mark and Amy for trusting me with this amazing creature.
More will come of other concepts I had the chance to work on, including rejected designs, unused ones, and other subjects."
Here is the fanart where she commented about her name for the creature Elli.
EDIT TO ADD NEW IMAGES: Molly Brown shared some unused designs for the monster eel. "Here's some unused designs for the blood eel! The first ever rough is the first image, already featuring the skulls merged with her face and the vein gills. The second idea was a combination of two human faces, which, when blurred or blasted with light, was supposed to better mimic the face of an actual creature. The two eye sockets at the center were made to be a big nasal cavity. The second idea also had the start of the eel's tail being made up of fragmenting human bodies. These are rougher concepts and obviously less rendered than the final, but I hope you enjoy!"

The angel came to me in a fever hallucination, perched upon my bed as I returned from the bathroom.
Let's take a moment to appreciate just how amazing the title cards were for Batman the Animated Series.
Oh! I actually know what made these look so iconic!
The backgrounds for the entire series were done on black paper, a first for any animated show. It's Batman, which means everything is at night and incredibly dark. So, the majority of the backgrounds were going to be black anyways and using black paper would cut down on the time it took to create all of the backgrounds. Adding color over the black paper instead of the traditional method gave it a much more stylized look that helped make it iconic.
It also forced some other creative choices, such as using an airbrush to do all of the background art. During the early testing, they found that using an airbrush was easier to apply paint with than a paintbrush and that it looked better. Airbrushing let them be more experimental with painting techniques, such as the spattery fades you can see in the "Bane" and "Deep Freeze" title cards above or the soft, deeply shadowed face on "the Last Laugh." The overall effect of airbrushing on a black background is a much darker, moodier vibe than could be achieved with a traditional approach.
They cared very deeply about the art of the show and how they were going to create it. It wasn't just about the story or the character. In the words of co-creator Eric Radomski: "As opposed to making shows just to sell toys, we've made quality films."
Did you know that JRR Tolkien wrote an unpublished epilogue to Lord of the Rings? It's achingly, beautifully wistful in the way that only Lord of the Rings is. I revisited it recently because I'm guesting on my friends' LOTR podcast, and THAT reminded me that I drew a comic of the epilogue back in 2021 (all text is entirely canon). Anyway I thought folks on this website might enjoy it!
On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."
As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.
As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.
May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.
hey bestie i think ur post might be charmed 'cause you aren't gonna fuckin believe what happened today

"In the same way that your heart feels and your mind thinks, you, mortal beings, are the instrument by which the universe cares. If you choose to care, then the universe cares. If you don't, then it doesn't." -- Brennan Lee Mulligan, D20, Fantasy High
Hungry
Audio description: a narration reading out the text of the above comic. The voice is distorted and repeats itself multiple times over, with differences in pitch and tone to give a sense of unease and 'glitchiness' to IMAGE_FRIEND's dialogue. FRIEND's tone is generally childish and 'simple minded', with a darker tone creeping in at the final few lines of dialogue.
Every time I see people go on about "realism" or "accuracy" in the Odyssey's i genuinely feel insane. How is this a statement that any adult can make without bursting out laughing
Barbarian Ross
Man's about to turn you into the scene of a happy little accident.
being a horror fan will have you saying sentences such as “i liked it a lot, super gross and sad”

Having a bad day?
Just take a look at the Japanese emperor caterpillar! they’re sure to cheer you up! they’re happy to see anyone!
These guys really love to peek, and their cute horns make it all the more better!
Soon. they actually just mean that hugs are coming to you soon, there’s nothing to worry about~
They’re also very silly.
What do you mean I can’t listen to leaf?
They’re also very little but still love meeting new friends!
Look at this tiny one, stepping into the world to start peeking!
Tiny peekers in training! they’re doing well.
Need I mention cat ears?
When you’re feeling sad, just think about these emperor caterpillars. they’d probably love to peek and see a pretty human with a smile on it’s face.
