there is something particularly funny and depressing about the fact that the whingy self-conscious normative approach that many many kinksters have on here re: celebrating and acknowledging only "service doms" and "pleasure doms" while ignoring or deriding those who take responsibility for their own desires, talking about dominance & dominant desire only in the context of "how to please your partner" and never how to please yourself, excusing CNC and adjacent kinks only on the basis of trauma & the validity of subs' desires, positioning check-ins and respecting boundaries and providing aftercare as things which doms do for subs without reciprocity, and overall conceptualizing CNC/heavy kink doms' sexualities as morally acceptable only absent active desire (i.e. "i want to fulfill my sub's desire to be raped in-scene" is fine; "i want to rape my sub in-scene" is vile) is like. so so infinitely more sexually violent and coercive and so much more an extension of rape culture than anything a weird pervert dom has ever said or done to me. expecting doms to never actively want The Bad Stuff, while still wanting them to do it out of a sense of obligation for subs, is so obviously rapey and coercive if you make any actual effort to center consent rather than the optics of any given dynamic

i have yet to see anyone articulate a reason why the mere existence of intersex people complicates the concept of transfemininity or tmaffectedness without explicitly or implicitly affirming a belief that the cagab of perisex people is somehow "real"

the typical gotcha i've seen used is the scenario of an intersex person who is cafab and later on experiences aspects of what is typically "male puberty" and is medicated with puberty blockers and/or estrogen. but to think of this person as "transfem" belies a fatal misunderstanding of what transitioning even is, a positioning of transition as relative to some prediscursive "true biological sex" as opposed to a fundamentally social system of sex assignment. the intersex individual on this case is not transitioning, they are doing the exact opposite (or, quite often, the opposite is being done to them without consent)--these interventions are quite literally in service of keeping their body in line with what is expected of their cagab. this is not the gotcha stumper people think it is, it is very simple to untangle if you simply have a consistent theoretical approach to what transition is and a principled ideological opposition to sex assignment.

As someone who is afab with what is technically an “intersex condition” that caused me to present with more “masculine” amounts of testosterone and body hair, and has been subjected to years of unwanted medication, laser hair removal, exercise routines, estrogen “promoting” diets and supplements, and other treatments to “affirm” my assigned gender, to identify with the transfem label would be harmful to everyone involved- what my mom has done makes me deeply exhausted, but tranfems would probably love the amount of time and energy of a mom interested in helping her promote feminine attributes. If forcefem wasn’t a fetish term i’d find that a more useful description of my experiences! It just feels absurd to use the hypothetical example of an afab intersex person as a gotcha. I just don’t get it.
