Billy Meier is well-known for his striking UFO photos, such as this one used for the "I Want to Believe" poster on The X-Files. He's also well-known for taking them constantly. Like. Perfectly framed UFO photos, one after another, for decades, all of them visiting where he lived in Switzerland.

This made people...dubious, both inside and outside of UFO circles. But he explained it, by founding a UFO religion and claiming the aliens were visiting him because he was the reincarnation of Enoch, Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Jesus and Muhammad. Obviously.

His apologists defend him because yes, his ex-wife did straight up show people the models he used, and two photos of supposed lady aliens visiting him turned out to be screencaps of backup dancers for Dean Martin, but: he lost one arm in 1965! Could a one-armed man do this? They say? Constantly?

Eventually, Meier produced some photos shared much less often: of an alien who was visiting him, and the alien weapons they bring.

All of them being held in only one arm, by an alien whose face isn't visible.

also she refers to sikhs in the past tense implying that at some point in the last two hundred years there was a genocide that they're just glossing over. since she also calls them a warrior race it's also possible that she's just racist and somewhere on board the enterprise there are sikh crew members who dislike her as much as kirk does.

Not to downplay the seriousness of the injury incurred by an exploratory bite, it was a BIG shark (possibly a great white, unknown), It left the woman in shock, in and out of consciousness. She would have drowned if not for the off duty life guard who held her head above water until the on duty rescue team arrived.

I do think calling every injury caused by a shark an "attack" and every listless approach a "close call", is alarmist in an extremely unhelpful way.

As a side note. If you stay calm and keep your head, you do have a superpower in most curious shark encounters (when the shark is smaller than a great white). As a creature with hands you have the ability to redirect an approaching shark with a solid sideways guiding shove to the snoot.

You just might have to be brave enough to open your eyes underwater in the ocean to perform the move if you're not wearing a mask or goggles. The water should be pretty shallow where people are swimming casually, so you would only need to dabble like a duck, like "*ducks below the water* no, fuck off *push*"
