You just now cannot sue if you are not told your rights.

Unfortunately, this will mostly harm those unaware of their rights. So will deeply, and mostly, effect uneducated people and those unfamiliar with U.S. laws (such as new immigrants).

They (cops) are not only further protected, but now are allowed to not tell you when you have that right. Which honestly can just be confusing for anyone.

It’s fucked up and definitely targets marginalized individuals, in addition to protecting cops. Double lose.

If you are taken into custody for Anything, you invoke your right to a lawyer (“I am invoking my right to a lawyer. Here is my lawyer’s number/Please assign me a public defender.”)

Then you shut the fuck up. “I am invoking my right to remain silent.” Do not make small talk. Do not answer ANY questions. If at any point you do (like to ask for the bathroom, a drink, etc) immediately repeat that you are invoking your right to silence. They will try to get you to talk. They’re allowed to try to get you to break your silence, and they will do so. They’ll make you wait for the lawyer.

She doesn’t count how many hours of sleep she loses trying to save lives and forgetting to feed herself, not the number of times she’s received emergency calls from the hospital, the times she’s had to cancel on her dinner dates with Ino and the girls, and definitely not the attempts her memories have made at cleaving their way through her.

But it’s been seven years, and the scent of roses intrudes into her rather perfunctory sense of smell of washed up, sanitized corridors. It’s the hospital; it’s all a routine until someone falls and hangs in a critical balance between life and death.

But even death becomes familiar after a while.

tldr: the Internet Archive/WayBack Machine is super important in term of archived content, billions of stuff are on there, and with the current event happening in the world like stated above,without this tool, it will be hard to properly document what took place. It will be easy for certain people to rewrite history. Dont let them.

if you want this, you need to be at your local community government meetings. you need to be talking to your representatives.  you need to be out there Lobbying.

Just a few weeks ago, my library, me, my coworkers, we had to write letters, send emails, make phone calls, speak at council meetings, just to beg our aldermen to give us our usual funding. Which they didn’t even give to us last year.  Losing last year’s funding forced us to cut staff, hours, and all of our databases.  If we’d lost this year’s funding? two positions would have been gone and we would have likely had to close on Saturdays.  On Saturdays.  The day of the week most of y’all working M-F jobs actually have time to go to the fucking library.

And do you want to know how much money we were asking? We were asking for an increase of approximately 13 cents a person.

ACROSS AN ENTIRE YEAR.

No one seems to understand how libraries are funded.  It’s not just Free Stuff.  It’s your tax dollars being paid back into your community.  It’s crowdfunding.  The highest cost anyone in my community pays for the library a year is approximately $250.  Divide that up.  That’s just $4 a week.  That’s less than a coffee.  It’s the equivalent of purchasing about 10 hardcover books a year.  For that price, you could have access to every book that has ever been written, a place to go that’s not a bar, programs for kids, teens, and adults, educated staff that can help you find the answers to your questions, and so much more.

You want these late-night libraries?  You want all this stuff?  Start fighting for it.  Start showing up.  Start making phone calls.  It’s not going to come out of thin air.  Start fighting to erase the idea that taxes = evil.  Start fighting to spread the understanding that taxes are what help us build a better society.

Make sure the people who represent you know that you want this.  That this is where you want your tax dollars to go.  That this is what you want them to support.  That you are willing to see your tax bill go up a few more dollars for this.

Because otherwise?  None of this is going to happen.  Libraries are going to keep cutting their opening hours.  Keep cutting staff.  Keep cutting programs and databases and collections.

She kept her back straight as a rod as always, and Itachi found himself squaring his shoulders as he approached her. “Itachi,” Mikoto greeted, always in that sing-song way she enjoyed saying his name. “Mother, how did you fall in love with father?” Surprised, Mikoto ceased her attempts to sort the laundry and blinked at him. He took the twisted clothing from her and set about untangling the mess while his mother tapped her bottom lip in thought. “Do you know what the red thread of fate is?” Mikoto finally spoke, picking up one of his shorts. Daichi asked her: what happened to you, lovely wife? And she responds that once, when she was very young, a boy threw a rock at her that struck her and left a scar.” At that, Mikoto smiled as Itachi sucked in a breath. “You see, Itachi—in ancient times, we believed that the god of the moon liked to play match-maker. He would tie a red string of fate between two people. Now that red string may stretch, or tangle, but it may never break. When two people are connected like that, they are destined to be together; no matter the place, or time, or circumstances.” She hung his shorts over the line. “And that’s how I fell in love with your father.” Itachi had listened breathlessly to the tale. “Does everyone have a red string to connect them?” Mikoto stroked his head. “Yes. But not everyone is lucky enough to find them when they’re young. Or they do, but their significant other is in love with someone else or there are other circumstances. You’ll know the second you’ll meet this person if they’re connected to you. It’s a feeling unlike any other.”

So I know I am going to forget some and unfortunately many of my favorites I read years ago back when I was a noob to fanfiction and did not save stories that hadn't been updated in the last year and have never been able to find them again (some day I will though). But off the top of my head here are a few that I always enjoy I feel I need to do this more often to truly share all the wonderful masterpieces I have come across over the years. Not even sure why I had clicked on it but the intensity and on going never ending nightmare they are living just has you feeling as exhausted and worn thin like the characters (in a good way). To describe it in one word...raw.

A Sasuke Hokage cannon AU where the Uchiha massacre went a little differently is how I would describe it. It just has you conflicted between wanting Sakura to stay and leave and to be honest I am not sure how I want it to end.

Itachi is still legally a missing-nin but he spends most of his time breaking into Konoha and showing up to bug Team 7 (it helps that Hokage!Kakashi is actively dismantling Konoha’s ongoing Itachi-hunt). Itachi usually spend the night at Sakura’s because Sasuke loves him but can’t sleep while Itachi is under the same roof as him, and Naruto and Kakashi’s apartments are….. bad

It’s a dumb romcom AU so obviously Itachi and Sakura “”platonically”” just share her bed. That’s how this starts lol
