I've been seeing a lot of discourse about JJ and Emily perhaps not being as close as they once were, but can we also talk about Emily and Penelope? I miss when they used to do things like get coffee together and talk about Sergio.

I feel like if my first experience with Criminal Minds was Evolution, I would only see them as a boss and an employee with some mutual respect for each other.

Emily has definitely pulled away from everyone for sure but she did go to Penelope’s when she was breaking down from the suspension and the Politico thing.

Idk, they haven’t let Emily be anything but professional in Evolution. She doesn’t get any backstory or any out of the office things like everyone else. They threw in something about Andrew and her breaking up three seasons after it happened. She drinks in her office alone while trying to do the work of two jobs. It doesn’t leave a lot of time to be close to anyone.

That's true, but that's also a moment that happens off screen. I wish there was more show and less tell when it comes to some of the dynamics between the team.

It's just hard to know whether or not Emily distancing herself is an intentional bit of character development that will get resolved or if this is simply a consequence of having a large ensemble and only 10 episodes to tell a story. Maybe it's a little bit of both.

If Luke's friend does end up dead/in trouble this week, I think it may lend credence to the theory that The Fan is going after the BAU and their loved ones, specifically as revenge for Voit. This would also explain why we're getting so much of Henry and Michael because they could be potential targets. It would also rope Rebecca more into the narrative. We know that she and Tara are going to have some sort of disagreement later on. Maybe it's about Rebecca being in danger.

There's also that still of Tyler and Tara in a house with suspiciously similar decor to Garcia's...Maybe a classic case of transference? I dont know, just a theory.

the lack of Garcia, especially full body shots of her 2nd and 3rd outfits in 19x04 was disappointing. I had high hopes we'd get some sort of garvez scenes in said episode given that Adam was directing episode 4. At least we got a bts reel of Kirsten as Garcia in the third outfit in episode 4 but it's hard to tell if the 2nd outfit was a top or dress

Yes! We were robbed of seeing Garcia's blue and pink dress in all of its HD glory!

I didn't think we would get much Garvez this episode, although I assumed that with Adam directing, we wouldn't see much of Luke at all. I was surprised that we got as much of Luke as we did and was even more surprised to see less of Garcia.
