Ok I kno ur a horse girlie and a TNG lover, so from someone who knows next to nothing abt horses but has a desire to do some art ... which breed would you say best represents each of the characters?
And feel free to do smth diff for Deanna and Worf, since they likely wouldn't fall directly into the same category đ
My two hyperfixations? IN THE SAME POST?? Very well. But only because you twisted my arm.
Picard: The French Camargue. Though not particularly tall, this is a powerful, elegant breed, and one of the oldest in the world. Their gentleness can be deceiving as their high intelligence and intense athleticism lets them excel in many walks of life, from the advanced training activities such as dressage down to more intuition-based jobs like cattle herding. Quietly stoic and never seeking attention with colorful coat patterns (they are always grey), they will confidently take care of you through reciprocal trust and dependability.
Riker: American Spotted Draft. Now, this isn't really a breed, it's a registry. Most draft horses tend to have very little coat pattern diversity so people started crossing them with more colorful breeds to get that draft size (enormous) and disposition (gentle and hardworking) with some splash. The result? A giant, confident, good-natured horse that everyone loves to look at and be around. These horses are magnetic in personality and often show up at fairs and shows just so everyone can admire them. But beneath the jazzy pizazz, these are still workhorses, bred to excel in the daily grind and blessed with thick shoulders to bear the weight of responsibility with ease.
Coat color: sorrel frame overo.
Beverly: Thoroughbred. Legs. Legs for days. These horses are one of the most popular in the world and are famous for racing but are incredibly versatile and seen in all walks of horsey life. Tall, intelligent and extremely athletic, they have been known to literally run until they die. They can also be very stubborn, flighty, and will let you know when they aren't happy about something. But beneath that hot-blooded exterior is a loyal, sensitive, determined, and magnificently powerful horse who will carry you to the ends of the earth if asked nicely.
Coat color: chestnut (with chrome)
Geordi: Missouri Fox Trotter. These horses are smooth. Literally. They are born with a different gait than other horses that allows them to just glide across the land for miles. They are highly curious and tech savvy, I've personally seen them open more gates, untie more ropes, escape more trailers, and take off more halters (face harnesses) than any other breed. Incredibly sweet-natured with high emotional intelligence, they will be your lifelong friend if you let them.
Coat color: Grulla (grullo)
Deanna: Dartmoor Pony. Now, this is highly controversial, I know. But hear me out. When you see Deanna, you see stunning beauty, elegance, and grace, so a stubby pony may not come to mind. You'd think of something flashy and high stepping, a Hackney or a Friesian, but listen. Those breeds? High strung, anxious, and flighty (and tall). Not Deanna at all. The Dartmoor on the other hand is gentle, calm, and collected. Petite yet hardy, they are known for their luxuriously thick manes, resilience, and beauty. They also make excellent children's ponies because of their innate empathy and kindness.
Worf: Russian Heavy Draft. This horse is literally a beast. 'Massive' doesn't even describe it properly. Big, smart, and ridiculously strong, these horses were bred mainly for agriculture but are descended from war horses. Energetic and surprisingly lithe for how much mass they carry, they are a sight to behold (and stand next to). Dependable and loyal, they have the courageous attitude to match their impressive size and will happily pull a plow for days on end or, even better, charge into battle if asked.
Coat color: liver chestnut
Data: Akhal-Teke. I almost didn't choose this one because it's SO obvious. That metallic sheen isn't actually exclusive to this breed and can show up in many breeds, but the Akhal Teke has traits that I see in Data that aren't in those other breeds. These horses are incredibly strong, drought resistant, heat resistant, have hard, unbreakable hooves, dense bones, and incredibly high endurance. They are almost machine-like in how indestructible they are. But beyond the physical, they are highly sensitive, curious, gentle, and loyal. The golden, shimmering coat is just a lovely coincidence.
Coat color: palomino with dilution gene
