I have a fanfic to recommend! Jin Ling/Sizhui romance pairing. Currently left on a cliff hanger which is killing me, the authors note on the last chapter says ‘Happy Valentine’s Day.’ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 but the writing quality is extremely awesome, the premise super engaging. A+++++ quality work!! Plus you can’t help but really feel for Jin Ling, he’s been having a rough time andyousaidtruelovedidntexsist

Summary: Jin Ling wishes that Jingyi was here. He would know how to handle a situation like this. He knows about the significance of the forehead ribbon. Jiujiu had spent a whole dinner lecturing about it. From what Jiujiu told him, touching it is extremely inappropriate and removing it was akin to seeing a woman in a state of undress. Ruining her virtue and destroying any prospects of a good marriage. Knowing all that… There had to be some kind of loophole, right? Or does he really have to marry Sizhui after tonight. or: After an assassination attempt and a shitty night hunt, Jin Ling finds himself stuck in a cave with a knocked out and injured Sizhui. Which would be fine and easy to manage if it wasn't for the fact that said Lan has a head wound. What the fuck is the proper protocol for dealing with a knocked out Lan with a bleeding head wound that could only be treated properly if you removed that damn forbidden head ribbon?

It also has an incubation period during which the vaccine has a 100% success rate. Once you start showing symptoms, it's too late and you're for sure dead,* but if you get the vaccine right away, you're fine. Down a couple hundred dollars, but fine. You have ten days for sure, but not showing symptoms after those ten days does NOT mean you're safe; you might just still be incubating it.

Anyway, yeah, it's too expensive to get as a preventative vaccine like other diseases unless your work involves regular possibility of contact with rabid animals (vets, spelunking, etc). But if you DO get bit by an animal that you aren't 100% sure is vaccinated already (your own dog) or species-immune (it only affects mammals, so you're not going to get it from a bird or lizard), then for the love of whatever deity you may or may not believe in: rabies vaccine.

And vaccinate your pets against rabies. Especially if they go outside. Yes, even the ones in a leash.

Rabies is something we've built a very layered set of defenses against. Zombie apocalypse won't happen just because of anti-vaxxers. Humans don't engage in the relevant behaviors (eating uncooked rabid corpses, biting when threatened instead of throwing a punch) enough for that to happen.

Just be careful. If you wake up and find a bat was in your room while you were asleep, see a doctor; bats have very small teeth and you won't KNOW that you've been bit, even if you have.

At most, I can see this affecting an isolated and cultish community (of, yes, antivaxxers), but again, if they start wandering away... you can't DRIVE at that point, not really, and any community they wander into on foot (at which point they'd likely be exhausted anyway due to prolongued difficulty swallowing, general wasting, and the hours to days long trek to get wherever they're going) would call the cops about it. Zombies don't get tired; everything on earth DOES, because we need energy to survive. Zombies may eat brains or human flesh, but rabies doesn't induce that; instead, it impacts the ability to swallow, leading to wasting from hunger and dehydration.

There's a reason humans contract rabies from other animals, not each other.

I'm not worldbuilding here, I'm trying to assure people that we have the infrastructure and systems in place to manage rabies if it shows up, that the system works and has BEEN working for a long time, and that as much as I don't like the cops, someone calling them is a likely and honestly reasonable course of action if aggression-period rabies occurs in a public setting. Even in countries where the health infrastructure is minimal, it doesn't spread like a zombie virus, both due to its general nature, and humanity's collective precautions.

May was such a bad watch month for me. I barely watched anything honestly. I've only been keeping up with like 2 or 3 shows. So I really only have one show to talk about as a favourite and that's Fangs of Fortune my beloved. This show devoured my soul and is my entire personality now. So... I plan to rewatch it soon. It's hilarious and action packed and devastating and has the best polycule who adopt adorable children.
