Went to a pride event this weekend, and had a really good time hanging out with my friends. But while we were there there was some People Who Worked In Politics/Social Justice (I don’t live there so I don’t what exactly their positions were), that were talking about like general activism and such.
Their speech was centered around how cis queer people had to stand up and fight for their trans neighbors, as their trans neighbors had done for them during the fight for marriage equality. Nice little speech, however, despite the speech being about all trans people, they only ever talked about protecting trans women (and briefly nonbinary people. Yes they did the “women and nonbinary people” thing). Trans men were not mentioned once the whole speech. An entire group of trans people were not at all acknowledged in the “we need to stand up for ALL our trans siblings” conversation.
The speech also didn’t even bother to mention notable trans women who were involved in activism (like Marsha P. Johnson), again just the nebulous concept of protecting trans women. WHICH I have no issue with, I am very aware that a lot legislation, and transphobic sentiment from people in power, abuses trans women specifically. But to not even mention any trans people who did fight for their rights, and the rights of others, was bizarre.
It felt incredibly disingenuous to completely ignore an entire part of the community you want to fight for. While also only giving a passing mention to another part of the community, which then simultaneously misgendered us by lumping us in with a binary gender category. And then on top of that not even bother to talk about important figures to the trans/queer rights movement.
Now this is not me going “What about me”. If the speech had been specifically about how trans women are being targeted, and we need to be aware of how/why and fight back against it, it makes sense to keep it within a particular scope. But again this speech was about queer people needing to rally behind ALL trans people, and the choice to only mention one specific type of trans person is what my issue is with. If the speech had only been about trans men or nonbinary people, I would have had the same issues.
It just felt like they wanted to say all the “right” things to get a crowd to like them. And by doing so ended up excluding a majority of the community in their call to action. There was no discussion of trans issues (besides the nebulous our rights are being taken away), trans history, or actual trans people. Just using the concept of trans women to rally a crowd. Idk it was just kind a of a sour note to end on.
The most sinister part is that if they hadn’t included a picture (yk, like how Amber Alerts don’t?) nobody would be able to find him off that description. Fuck transphobes.
“gay trans boys always have ‘bi’ boyfriends who are actually straight and see them as women” you are normalizing abuse
trans men, and especially younger trans boys, who are attracted to men are specifically targeted by abusers who attempt to limit their transitions and ignore their boundaries, especially sexual boundaries. trans men are told growing up that under patriarchy, our value comes from our bodies, and that by transitioning we ruin this. this leads to a belief that once we transition we will be unloveable, and that the pleasure our bodies bring to men is more important than what we want. this makes trans men incredibly vulnerable to this type of abuse.
and yet, instead of addressing these boyfriends as abusers, the queer community laughs about it. many of these jokes are self deprecating jokes by trans men, yet they rarely call out the dynamic as abusive. when non trans men make these jokes, it is even worse, making fun of minorities for being victims of abuse
if you see a trans man, especially a younger trans boy in a relationship like this, treat it as seriously as you would any other type of abuse
Welcome to Scarleteen: Grounded, non-judgmental, and genuinely centered on inclusive pleasure
At Scarleteen we’re focused on making pleasure accessible for all, especially for queer folks who are tired of either getting zero sex ed info, or getting info that assumes everyone’s straight, cis, and/or having one very specific kind of sex. Our work also centers community voices, not outsiders telling people what to do.
A lot of sex ed out there skips over queer pleasure and queer dynamics, and dodges the real questions folks have like, how to navigate dysphoria, or thinking about how to have safer sex in ways that go beyond “use condoms.” All of our sex ed is written with queer people in mind, but some of our articles and advice columns dive more deeply into concerns our LGBTQIA+ visitors ask us about—although they’re out here for everyone to read, whether questioning, supporting a partner or friend, or just curious to learn more.
If you want queer sex ed that’s grounded, non-judgy, and actually pleasure-forward, welcome :)
We’ve pulled together a bunch of our best resources on pleasurable queer sex, including safer sex guides, toy guides, and pieces focused on comfort, communication, connecting with partners, and feeling good in the body during sex, not just “doing it right.”
We’ve got everything from the practical basics on safer sex to how to enrich your relationship with your partners. We talk about all the stuff that makes sex mutually enjoyable and pleasurable, like checking in with your partner during, welcoming in varied experiences, and experimenting to find what feels right for you during partnered and solo sex. Scarleteen also covers topics like exploring polyamory or sexual pleasure for QTBIPOC youth, written by and for members of these communities. Here’s seven of our favorites just for you:

"transmascs love misgendering themselves" hey so are you aware that everytime we try to create inclusive terms we get made fun of? Did you not see how mad TERFs got over the terms "birthing person" or "uterus owner"? We literally can't use terms that wouldn't misgender us because when we do other queer people and people outside the community turn it into a joke.
tumblr discourse is like three steps away from people putting their SAT scores in their bio and using that as a way of deciding whose opinions are most correct
the thing about misogyny is that nothing makes apparent how prevalent it is faster than just pointing out misogyny, which will have people scuttering out of the damn sewers like ninja turtles to accuse you of being an overly sensitive shit-stirring know-nothing who's making up things to be offended about. which is actually also pretty misogynistic, but if you point it out people will come scuttering out of the damn sewers—
Originally was gonna put this in the tags but the story got really long so, replying it is.
I was talking to some friends about famous singers who had controversies of some form or another. We basically all took turns explaining what the deal was for people who didn’t remember/didn’t know. Anyway Chappell Roan came up and everyone was like “It’s stupid how mad everyone got for her being kinda impolite to fans” and I was like “Yeah, we should really be talking about how she’s kind of transphobic.”
No one else had heard about that. So I explained that whole thing she did where she thanked the trans community for the contributions to the music industry, only to later walk back the statement saying she only meant trans women. She’s also specifically cited Jason Aldean (famous country singer) as a music inspiration. Jason Aldean had a pretty notable incident where he went on a transphobic tirade and got dropped from his record label because of it.
(Her also doing the performative feminism thing where she says she hates all men, and thinks they’ve never contributed meaningful to art, despite obviously taking inspo from drag queens, and working with men creatively, also came up but isn’t directly linked to the transphobia.)
The majority of the people in the convo, were obviously disappointed that she would do that. However one person immediately pulled up with the “Well that’s not really transphobia, it’s more like sexism” and despite numerous attempts to explain that like even IF excluding trans men from the conversation was anything other then transphobia, supporting a known transphobic artist definitely is transphobic, said person doubled down on their opinion. And then also tried to out feminist us about it.
When I brought up how if this conversation had been about trans women and not men, I feel like it would have gone differently, they admitted that it would have. Because women experience discrimination differently then marginalized men do (which is a true statement, but definitely an odd thing to use as an argument for this specifically). And wow. If only I could name a group that’s been historically viewed as confused women, and were discriminated for it accordingly!
Like if we’re literally admitting if this was about a different group of people, then my original statement would have been true, then maybe we should call a spade a spade.
pretty shocking claim, isnt it? the kind of claim that should be backed up with evidence, right?
well, I agree. in fact, I spent an hour writing up a long reblog proving that the random user @/tomboyfriends is not and has never been the coiner OR the person who popularized the term "transandrophobia", only for the very same person who asked for proof to instantly block me, making my post disappear for everyone else.
I am not going to just drop that. this is now deliberate misinformation being spread by @daughter-of-sapph0, who I now know for sure knows better.
so this is my own original post, documenting her claims and demands for proof, and the post I wrote giving her just that:
below is the reblog chain that led to this.
/end of screenshots
my response:
right. so you admit you vaguely know who saint is, AND that He's the real coiner, but youre claiming that its on ME for thinking that a post that says "the word transandrophobia was coined by a detrans nazi twerf" is about Saint, when there's zero context as to who youre claiming is the "real" coiner. this post is written that way to confuse. even in the screenshots you're using as proof, @/neongreentoxicity immediately knows that person thinks the post is referring to Saint. it is not on me for just reading the post the way its written.
but sure, I will prove how silly this entire conversation is.
this random person who i have NEVER heard of even puts IN that literal post that the word has been used before online, and IN the screenshots you give, @/neongreentoxicity notes that they do know that the word was actually coined on Twitter in 2017. so yall DO know that it is an abject lie to call this person the coiner. she objectively isnt.
also, her bio clearly says "no longer crypto", so she ADMITS she was a crypto all along. crypto terfs exist to spread misinformation and stir up problems in the trans community. this random person ADMITS thats what they were doing!!!!!
but ig now the bar has been moved to proving that she didnt popularize it. fine. thats incredibly easy to prove.
unfortunately, Saint has lost all His posts, as multiple times He was reported repeatedly until He was terminated. so ofc that makes it difficult to prove His popularity, and i know you dont gaf about the actual repeated testimony of people who have been in the community since before this random person's post existed, so I wont even try to use my own experiences as evidence.
but thankfully, we can just use our brains here.
here is that nazi's "coining" post, where op clearly says they didnt coin it, as it already exists. they clearly found the term themselves, and made this post just trying to spread awareness of the term.
lets look down at the bottom. how many notes does this post that apparently "popularized" the term have????? forty-four notes. hmm.
if you go through every other post about transandrophobia on this person's blog, you will see that only ONE other one was made by them. it has fifty-eight notes. interesting.
now lets compare that, shall we?
unfortunately, Saint's old posts are all wiped from this website. I even signed into my old blog where multiple times I helped Hymn find His old posts and sent them to Hymn after he was termed. here's a taste of what that looks like:
genuinely, it goes on and on and on. all of His old posts are gone. its kinda heartbreaking, as its some of the history of our community and a lot of the posts that helped me come to terms with being trans.
all is not lost though. @nothorses (who i will refer to as Grey) is thankfully still around. Grey has been the archiver for our community for quite awhile, and was a mutual and friend of Saint's from the getgo (or at least before I showed up). if you ask around, I promise you that most people will credit either Saint or Grey (or Jaz, or a couple others who routinely reblog from both of them) as where they first came across the term. Grey is always the first to point out that Saint coined it, though ofc now Grey has a lot of original posts and is a trusted figure in the community.
without spending too much time on it (I am sure you can find old Saint posts on Grey's blog somewhere, but I already spent too much time on this post), here is a popular older post of Grey's. no, it is not from before that random person's "coining" post, but it IS just five months later, and you can clearly see that Grey is a popular Tumblr user. this is his original post, and it has six-figure notes.
here is an original post from Sept 2020, wherein Grey uses the term "transandrophobia" and explains its systemic and real-world effects. no, it is not as popular, but as anyone in the community can attest—any post that describes transmasculine oppression using the word "transandrophobia" will never make a lot of notes. however, tons of his original posts from 2020 about transmasculine oppression that do not use the term have a fuckton of notes.
this should be sufficient to prove that he is a popular Tumblr user who blogs about the transmasculine experience. and he has also been using the term transandrophobia since 2020.
now, even if we pretend that this nazi terf liar actually coined the term (which your screenshots definitively prove to be false), how on earth can you claim that she popularized it? she doesnt have a single post on it that breaks three figures. not even 100 people have interacted with her posts.
i wish i could reblog all the i hate sex posts because they’re terribly funny but unfortunately it’s just not true. i don’t hate sex. i’m literally thinking about it while i’m on the clock. on the clock? i wish i was on the. well. i shan’t say

[leftistly] [secularly] having sex causes a hard to quantify but unmistakable change in your personality and being that can be detected by others. Having sex for the first time imbues you with qualities and deep understandings that you did not have in your pre-sex state.
Tumblr user standing at the front of the classroom picking petals off of roses and crumpling and uncrumpling paper and showing you that the tape is never the same amount of sticky again after being used: -except I think this is a good thing
Genuinely though it is so frustrating that nonbinary rights and exorsexism are not treated seriously at all, even from within the queer community. It sucks that there's not even an option for an X gender marker in so many countries, including in more progressive queer-friendly ones. It sucks that if enben want to get gender affirming care that we're advised to lie about our gender (or lack thereof) in favour of a more binary trans identity lest we jump through a million extra hoops on top of the million already in place for binary trans people to prove we're serious in order to get the care we want/need. It sucks that in most cases we're still forced into some kind of binary and I wish that the issues we deal with were acknowledged more.
people on this website love doing this thing where they say some form of “I hate men, and I think they should all just die”, and then when you point out that statement also includes marginalized men (who are often also targets of violence), they get really mad at you

choosing to play oppression olympics isnt just mean and inconsiderate. like I feel when you call ppl out for it theyre like "does it hurt your feelings that I said your privileged?" like no you are actually doing some serious damage to your own cause
like the recent estrogen legislation. estrogen should never be made a controlled substance. everyone should have easy access to gender affirming care, including DIY. but when people try to spread awareness for this serious issue by acting like trans men arent as affected by institutional transphobia, it just becomes an argument about disinformation, because testosterone is ALREADY a controlled substance. I want estrogen to remain an uncontrolled substance because I want to save trans women from the bullshit than trans men have been having to deal with for over 30 years. and then you have a bunch of people arguing about this bullshit with each other while the law just plods on thru the government and everyone loses.
recently I saw a person talking about the recent, tragic murder of Juniper Blessing. but instead of honoring her memory, this person said that trans men dont experience the same danger. and of course that caused people to bring up the also very recent murder of Luca Redbeard. Both these violent hate crimes and murders happened THIS MONTH and it makes me sick that the trans community cant even honor their memories properly because theyre too up their own asses arguing about who has privilege and social power over the other, instead of seeing that we are all living the same fucking nightmare
both trans men and trans women are punished for our proximity to both feminity and masculinity. people decide when we are men or women based on what is the WORST option at the moment. we both get treated like women only when someone needs to infantalize us or call us bossy, bitchy, stupid, vapid. we both get treated like men when someone wants to demonize and paint us as violent, predatory, abusive, perverted. NONE of us are benefiting from any gendered privilege, because we are always treated like the worst of either gender depending on the scenario. this is something all trans people experience, regardless of agab, both trans men and trans women. so why do we assume that the other side has the opposite experience as us?? why do you think that because your life as a trans man or a trans woman is painful, that a trans person of a different gender must have the opposite experience?? like i just dont get the preschool level understanding of gender like "well boys and girls are opposites so of course our experiences are opposites too" we are living the same transphobia and if you cant see it you need to listen to other people more
