so not sure anyone can help me but I'm looking for two Malex fics on AO3 that I read awhile ago. I haven't been able to find them and it could be that the authors deleted them but it could also be that there are so many fics that I just missed them.
The first one is a short one shot. The gang goes to confront/arrest/take out Jesse in the bunker and they find out that Forrest has been working with Jesse the whole time and that being with Alex was a lie. Alex falls apart and Michael comforts him while the others take Jesse out of the bunker.
The second one is a longer fic where Nora shows Michael what his life would be like if he and Alex were together. But the reality is that Michael didn't answer a phone call from Alex when they were teenagers and his father killed him and buried him under the shed. Michael is understandably upset that Nora would show him something he can never have because Alex is dead. She then offers him a chance to go back and possibly change what happens.
If anyone can help or knows someone who knows these stories I'd be so grateful! Thanks is advance!
things that always make me happy: serial commenters. there are three types
1) reading a longfic chapter by chapter, leaving an increasingly emotional comment on every chapter, descends into keysmashes near the end: outstanding
2) read one fic by accident, clicked the author name, now working steadily through the backlog and commenting on everything, I wake up to an AO3 inbox full of enthusiasm: precious beyond words
3) the longterm serial commenter whose comment begins with I donât even know this fandom but because they have followed me from somewhere else: stunning. humbling. magical.
these are all *chefâs kiss* and I want to add one more:
4) left a comment a while ago, comes back and leaves another comment on the same fic, telling you that theyâre coming back to reread the fic: angels. blessings. lifesavers.
This is me!!! I do all that AND I love love love when my readers do the same! Keep those comments comingâŚit never gets creepy! đđđđđđ

Malex Secret Santa 2021 - this one is for @winged_fool (AKA Ariqa) for this year's @malexsanta
This fic got a little out of control, because I loved this prompt: Oasis AU (role reversal where humans crash land on the Oasis).
Captain Alex Manes, Dr Kyle Valenti and Dr Liz Ortecho are on a mission off the space station in search of planets capable of hosting human life. Nearly halfway through their journey, their ship, The Roswell, suffered a malfunction which caused them to fall into the atmosphere of a planet and make an emergency crash landing. Of all the things they had prepared to find on this mission, a cosmic extra-terrestrial connection wasnât what any of them expected.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the
Organization for Transformative Works
This is the @malexsanta gift for @aliciam72 â¤ď¸
When I stepped in as a pinch hitter, this prompt sparked an idea immediately:
Alex asks Michael to move in with him but Michael is reluctant but not for the reasons Alex thinks. It seems Michael has adopted two abandoned kittens in the junkyard and heâs not sure how Alex will feel about bringing two other living creatures to live with him. Alex is a little upset at Michaelâs reluctance to move in until Sanders spills the beans and Alex just melts at Michaelâs big heart.
It's been so much fun to write, and I hope this fic turns out to be close to what you've imagined.
Happy Holidays! đ đ
Also on AO3.
~*~
Alex wants to move in with Michael.
Michael has a secret.
Walt is the best.
(And no, that's not a typo in the fic title).
Tomorrow it will be 100 days since they got together.
Okay, technically it will be 13 years, 7 months, and 18 days, but who's counting, right?
(Well⌠Alex. Alex is counting. Has been counting since that fateful day at the UFO museum when Michael â sweet, kind, wonderful Michael â had kissed him for the first time. And even after all this time, after years apart and relationships with other people in between, Michael still kisses him like Alex is the most precious thing in the world, like he can't believe that he's allowed to kiss Alex whenever he wants.)
To Alex's delight, Michael wants to kiss often. Deep, long (and sometimes dirty) kisses when they make love, goodbye kisses when they go their separate ways in the morning (these kisses are no longer tinged with bitterness as they used to in the past because they know that only a couple of hours later there will be hello/welcome home kisses), little pecks when they are cooking together in Alex's kitchen, hand kisses when they are sitting on the couch, their fingers intertwined and Michael pulls up their linked hands ever so often to softly kiss the back of Alex's hand.
There are nibbling kisses when Michael wants to wake him up on a Sunday morning, dreamy kisses when they float in the warm water of Alex's tub, sweet kisses when they slow-dance around the living room to soft tunes coming from the record player.
There is a myriad of other kinds of kisses, and Alex loves two in particular: the soft kisses (and whispered "I love you"s) they exchange when they go to sleep and the equally soft kisses (and boldly stated "I love you"s) they exchange when they wake up together.
Michael still "officially" lives in his banged-up Airstream, though, and has been staying there "to work an early shift" or "to work late" a lot lately. This means that Alex didn't get these kisses nearly often enough.
He'd love to get them every day/night of every week of every month of every year for the rest of his life, that's why he will ask Michael to move in with him "for real" tomorrow night. Christmas Eve just seems like the perfect day to make this kind of proposal.
But Alex is nervous. He knows that Michael loves him, knows, that all Michael's ever dreamed of is to be with Alex and build a life with him. And yet â mostly due to Michael staying at the junkyard so often these past couple of days - there's a lingering feeling of "what if he says no" Alex can't shake off completely.
That's why he's decided to speak to someone who might know more about it.
Three days ago, Michael had told him during breakfast at the Crashdown that he has to drive to Albuquerque today to get some special parts for an old-timer car he's trying to rebuild, so Alex knows for sure there's no danger of bumping into Michael when he drives over to the junkyard.
Alex smiles when he sees the Christmas tree greeting customers at the gate. Michael put up the tree and decorated it not just with strings of cheerful blinking Christmas lights, there are also small car parts and metal scraps reflecting the winter sun. Michael had turned them into Christmas tree ornaments in his workshop earlier this year. Sanders had grumbled about it, but he'd let Michael do it anyway. It looks lovely and very festive.
Alex feels a little anxious when pulls up in front of the small house Sanders lives in. He's never been inside, in fact, he has only talked to Sanders a couple of times. But Alex is determined to figure out why Michael has been so distant lately, and whether Sanders has an idea how to convince Michael to move in with him.
Alex has hinted at it in his own subtle way during the past hundred days.
Michael has a key to the house (he even uses it instead of unlocking the door with his mind), there's a hook by the door for Michael's hat, there's plenty of empty space for Michael's clothes in Alex's walk-in closet, Michael even has his own sink because Alex's spacious bathroom is equipped with two sinks. But so far, Michael's only brought over a spare pair of jeans, two flannels, and some underwear and socks.
Alex wants it all, though. The shirts and boots, Michael's research clutter, a gallery of pictures of them, he maybe (certainly) wants them to adopt a dog in the near future. He wants to build a home with Michael, and while Michael is his home, he wants his house to be theirs, and for Michael to no longer feel (or behave) like a guest.
Alex steps out of his car and walks over to the door Michael had painted bright blue when he'd been helping Sanders to fix some things around his house in the summer. In fact, the house looks better than ever, and well taken care of.
Alex smiles. He knows this is thanks to Michael, who still feels like he owes Sanders for stealing copper wire from him in the past. But also, because he really likes the old man. Sanders has been more like a father to Michael than Jones could've ever been, and Alex knows from experience that this kind of craftsmanship is one of Michael's many love languages.
He takes one more deep breath and then knocks on the door.
"Your man isn't here, Captain," Sanders â who's standing behind Alex suddenly - says. Alex jerks around. "How did you even sneak up on me without me noticing?"
"I don't sneak, you were just deep in thought and didn't notice me," Sanders says and shrugs. "What brings you here on this bright December day?"
"Uhm, I wanted to ask you for advice about something."
Sanders raises an eyebrow. "What did he do?"
"Oh no, that's not it. Michael hasn't done anything. The thing is, I want to ask him to move in with me full time, but he's been staying here a lot lately, and I was wondering whether you know why and if you think that maybe it's too soon to ask him?" Alex shifts uncomfortably. What was he thinking, coming here behind Michael's back?
When Sanders starts smiling, Alex is taken aback. The old man chuckles. "Oh boy, he still hasn't told you, huh?" There's a knot of anxiety swelling in Alex's chest, but he's doing his best to breathe deeply before he asks, "Told me what?"
Sanders walks past Alex and opens the blue door. "Follow me, Captain." He gestures at Alex, and he enters the house behind Walt. It's warm inside, cozy.
The house looks like someone's been painting the walls recently, and with warmth blooming in his chest, Alex remembers a shirt with white paint stains he's seen in Michael's laundry a while ago. Michael really does like the old man, no matter how often he complains about him.
Sanders leads Alex into a small guest room to the right, and there, on a small table next to the guest bed, is a pink laundry basket. It's unusually warm in the room and Alex is in the middle of taking his beanie off when he hears mewling.
"Come and look," Sanders invites him, and Alex steps closer until he can look at what's inside of the basket. He recognizes Michael's favorite green hoodie, and in the hood, snuggling close, are two small kittens, one has gray fur with black stripes, the other's ginger. They wriggle around and blink up at the two men with wide eyes.
"He found them in a box at the gate to the junkyard last Saturday. Some asshole had abandoned them. Michael took them to the vet, got them chipped and vaccinated, and then he brought them back here because he couldn't reach anyone at the shelter in town. He took care of them all weekend, fed them, brushed their fur and whatnot."
Alex remembers all too well how absent-minded Michael had been last weekend, how he'd insisted on staying at the junkyard that night because he wanted to work on something early on Sunday morning. Well, taking care of two kittens was certainly a lot of work.
"I still don't understand why he didn't say anything," Alex says. "He could've brought them home. I would've helped him to take care of them." It's hard for him not to sound upset, but he is. And to his dismay, he feels tears welling up in his eyes.
Sanders looks at him and squeezes Alex's shoulder. "That boy has a brain as big as his heart, but sometimes that big brain is giving him the dumbest advice. He didn't mean to keep this from you. He didn't even mean to keep the kittens, he was ready to part ways with them, but then he learned that there are too many animals at the shelter this close to Christmas. So he kept them here, roped me into looking after them when he went home to you, and the longer this went on, the more anxious he got."
"But why? I don't understand. It's not like he secretly has two children with someone else."
Sanders chuckles. "Instead, he has two secret fur babies he fell in love with but since you're a dog person, he's convinced that there's no way for him to keep the cats."
Alex closes his eyes for a moment and tries his best to calm down. He's feeling a little angry, but he also knows that Michael didn't mean to keep this from him forever. In his mind, Alex pictures Michael playing with the kittens and he's melting at the cuteness of that mental image. Michael with the big, big heart, and complicated thought processes.
At that moment, Alex makes a decision. "Okay, this is what we're going to do, and I need your help."
~*~
The next day, on Christmas Eve, Alex hears Michael park his truck in front of the house late in the afternoon. Moments later Michael enters the house and hollers "Honey, I'm home!"
Alex walks up to him in the hallway and kisses Michael hello. Michael's nose is cold, but his lips are warm and welcoming, and he melts into Alex's embrace and the kiss with ease. Alex sighs happily. This is what he wants forever, and he knows that tonight he'll get his wish granted.
"Hi, I've missed you," he whispers when they come up for air. "I've missed you, too," Michael replies. They smile at each other.
But before Alex can give in to what he'd love to do (take Michael to the bedroom and take him apart with his hands and mouth), he remembers that there's a plan he must stick to to make his Christmas miracle happen.
He clears his throat. "I know it's late and you're probably tired, but I just realized that I forgot to buy milk earlier, and we're also out of the juice you like. Would you mind making a quick trip to the store before we get to the cozy part of the evening?" He blinks at Michael with pleading eyes and notices the exact moment when Michael gives in without arguing.
"Alright, it hasn't started snowing yet. I'll be back in 15 minutes." He kisses Alex on the tip of his nose. "You're lucky you're cute, Manes."
"And I'm lucky that you are the best boyfriend on this and any other planet. I'll make it up to you later," Alex promises with a wink.
"Okay, that's the kind of incentive I've been aiming for. Love you, I'll be back in no time and then you can have your wicked way with me."
Alex laughs. "Go, I'll be here waiting for you. And just for the record, I love you, too. So much."
They kiss one more time, and then Michael's out of the door. Alex waits until he can't hear the truck anymore, then he switches the light next to the front door on and off in quick succession a couple of times. Mission Christmas Surprise is off to a good start.
~*~
When Michael returns from the shop twenty minutes later, everything is ready, and Alex has trouble staying calm. He hears Michael toeing off his boots in the hallway, then entering the kitchen where he puts the milk and juice away. When he enters the living room, he's carrying a tray with a bowl of nuts, a bottle of red wine, and two glasses he places on the couch table.
"It's like you can read my mind, boyfriend dearest," Alex jokes.
"Well, you know I could, actually, but I would never do it without your consent." Michael's smile is a bit lopsided.
"I know, Michael, sorry, that wasn't the best joke to make. Come here and let me kiss it better."
Michael sits down next to him and Alex wraps his arms around him. He buries his nose in Michael's wild mop of curls and inhales deeply. "Mhm, you used that shampoo I love. You smell so good," he mumbles.
"That's why I use the shampoo. Maybe I should buy another bottle and put it in the shower here? Then I wouldn't have to use your soap when I stay over," Michael says. And if that isn't the perfect thing for him to say.
Alex sits up a little and pulls Michael close again. "About thatâŚ" He notices that Michael's shoulders hunch a fraction of an inch.
"Did you know that it's been one hundred days today since you kissed me in front of the Pony?" Alex asks.
Michael turns his head and looks at Alex. He nods. "One hundred days. And it's been 13 years, 3 months, and 18 days since I kissed you at the UFO Emporium. But who's counting, right?"
Tears well up in Alex's eyes. "Me. I've been counting. All the precious moments we had throughout those years. All the days we were apart. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure that you really are lying right next to me at night, and that I get to hold and kiss you and tell you I love you every day."
A single tear runs down Michael's cheek and then they kiss and cling to each other, overwhelmed with feelings and the realization that this is real, that they are together now, and that their relationship is working. There's just one more thing they have to talk about.
Alex runs a hand through Michael's curls. "You know, I've been meaning to ask you this a couple of times but decided that tonight would be the perfect moment."
Michael blinks and nods. "Okay?"
"I love you. I've loved you for 13 years, 7 months, and 18 days, and I know for certain that I'll never stop loving you. I want to be with you. I want to build a life with you. Here. In this house. Michael Guerin, would you do me the honor and move in with me, and make this house our home?"
Michael is crying now, tears running down his face. He hiccups. He swallows around a lump in his throat before he answers. "I love you, too. More than anything or anyone in the world. And I would love to move in with you."
He takes a deep breath. "There's just one small thing. Quite literally. A thing I haven't told you about yet. I don't even know why I've kept this from you. Sanders has been nagging me about it every day but somehow my brain made it this big, insurmountable thing, and now I'm feeling dumb for not talking to you about it." There's a blush blooming high on Michael's cheeks.
Alex smiles. "It's a good thing that I know you so well, and that I've noticed that there's something going on with you. I may have investigated and done some research and--." Alex leans forward and reaches for a small package on the floor next to the couch table. He hands it to Michael.
"It's Christmas Eve and we're doing the whole presents exchange with the others at brunch tomorrow, but I have something I want to give you tonight, and I hope it will make the decision easier for you."
Michael's hands tremble a little, he turns the package around and peels the tape off carefully. He gasps when he sees what's inside. Two small leather collars, one black, one the color of chestnuts. There are small silver tags attached to each collar, blank on the front, and Michael's and Alex's phone numbers engraved on the back.
Michael blinks at Alex. "How did youâŚ"
Alex smiles, stands up, and reaches for Michael's hand. He leads him to the door of their bedroom. "Open it."
Michael enters the room and gasps when he sees the pink laundry basket on their bed. He turns around to Alex.
"I have to ask again, how did you do this? I left them with Sanders when I came over, and--." Realization dawns on Michael's face. "The old man is in on this, isn't he? When I went to the shop?"
Alex nods and smiles. "Yes, he followed you in his car when you came here."
Michael wraps Alex into a tight hug. "You are incredible. Thank you, Alex. I hope you're not mad that I kept this from you?"
Alex caresses Michael's cheek. "I'll admit that I was a bit miffed at first, but then I thought about how your thoughts probably spiraled about this and how that big brain of yours made a mountain out of a molehill. Now I'm actually glad you kept it from me because it allowed me to surprise you tonight."
Michael kisses Alex, and they only break apart when the kittens stir in the basket and meow loudly.
"Do they have names?" Alex inquires.
Michael blushes. "They do, but they are a bit silly. We can still change them if you don't like them." He reaches into the basket and places both kittens on his chest. He points at the gray kitten. "This one's Felice, and this one," he points at the orange tabby "This one I named Navidad."
Alex needs a second to process what Michael said and then he bursts into laughter. "You named the kittens Felice and Navidad? That's hilarious!"
Michael smiles. "I don't even know how I came up with these names, but this close to Christmas it kind of made sense to me. We can still rename them, though, they are still so tiny, I don't think they'd mind."
Alex shakes his head and carefully plucks Felice from Michael's chest and scoops her up in his arms. She snuggles into the crook of his neck and falls asleep immediately. "There's no way we're renaming them. I love the names, they are perfect."
Michael leans forward and kisses Alex on the mouth. "Have I told you lately that I love you?"
Alex smiles at him softly. "You did, but I'll never get tired of hearing you say it over and over again."
~*~
Sometime later they are back in the living room.
Alex had shown Michael the treasure trove of supplies he'd bought at the pet store earlier this morning (the softest cat bed, a scratch post, food and water bowls, a litter box, and a variety of toys), and filled him in on the story about his trip to the junkyard yesterday, and how he and Sanders had worked together to surprise Michael.
The kittens are sleeping curled up together in the hood of Michael's hoodie they draped over the cat bed. It's placed close enough to the fire crackling in the fireplace to keep the kittens warm.
They are not wearing their collars yet because they are still so small. The collars are gorgeous and Michael can't stop looking at them. He runs his fingers over the butter-soft leather admiringly. "Where did you even get these on such short notice?"
Alex smirks. "I called Greg up at the reservation and asked him if they had anything at the gift shop that would work as cat collars. He sent me photos of these two and I thought they were perfect. He even got the silversmith to engrave the tags before he brought them over this morning."
"I'm in awe of everything you did to make this surprise happen, Alex. Thank you," Michael says.
Alex takes Michael's hand. "It's been so much fun to make this happen, and I'm glad the surprise worked so well. You still haven't answered my question, though. Will you, Michael Guerin, do me the honor of moving in with me, together with Felice and Navidad â and maybe a puppy along the way?"
Michael smiles softly and his eyes are shining. "I will. Can I ask you something in return?"
Alex nods. "Of course. What is it?"
In one smooth move, Michael slides down from the couch and lands on one knee right in front of Alex, whose mouth drops open at the sight of it. From across the room, a black velvet box floats right into Michael's open hand. He pops the lid open and shows Alex a golden ring with iridescent specks of alien glass worked into the metal.
"13 years, 7 months, and 18 days ago I had the courage to walk up to your booth at the UFO Emporium and kiss you under the fake stars for the very first time. No matter what's been happening during all these years, my heart's been yours since that day, and it will be yours forever. Will you, Alexander Manes, do me the honor of marrying me?"
Alex is crying now; he can barely see Michael through the blur of tears. He blinks until he can see Michael clearly. "Yes. It would be the greatest honor and joy of my life to be your husband, Michael. I've wanted forever with you since we kissed for the first time."
Michael slips the ring on Alex's finger. It fits perfectly and Alex feels an unfamiliar but most welcome calm wash over him. This is it, this is where he belongs, with Michael. And now they have their happily ever after, and a lifetime of kisses ahead of them.
This is such a wonderful, soft, sweet, fluffy, perfect story! Thank you for writing this for me! I will treasure this! And now Iâm off to read it againâŚthank you, thank you, thank you! I love it! đđđđđđ
This is for my Secret Santa @sivan325. The prompt was for hurt Alex and Michael taking care of him. I hope this is what you wanted. I truly enjoyed writing this!

Michael rushed through the hospital doors and stopped in front of the nurse at the information desk. âAlex Manes, where is he?â
The nurse looked up. âAre you family?â
Michael hesitated. Technically he wasnât family even though Alex had said they were at Caufield. But he doubted this nurse would take a frantic declaration meant to save a stubborn alien from dying with his mother as proof he was family. âNo, Iâm hisâŚIâm his friend.â
The nurse punched a few keys on her computer. âOnly family is allowed to see Mr. Manes. Iâm sorry.â
Michael ran his hand through his curls. âNo, no, no. I have to see him. I need to make sure heâs okay.â
âIâm sorry. Iâm just following protocol. If you wait over there Iâll contact the nurseâs station about his condition.â The nurse pointed to the waiting area.
âMichael? How did you get here so fast?â Kyle walked toward them. âBecca, itâs okay, heâs with me.â
The nurse looked up from her computer screen. âAre you Michael Guerin?â
Michael nodded. âYes.â
Becca held out her hand. âI need to see some ID.â
âReally, Becca, itâs okayâŚâ Kyle started to say but Becca raised her hand.
âYes, it will be as soon as Mr. Guerin shows me his ID.â
Michael scrambled to get his wallet out of his pocket. He hastily pulled his license out and handed it to her.
She shook her head and smiled, handing it back to him along with a visitorâs badge. âNext time, lead with your name. Youâre Mr. Manesâ emergency contact so yes, technically you are family.â
âThank you!â Michael said before turning to Kyle. âWhere is he?â
âRight this way.â Kyle gestured for Michael to follow him. âHeâs okay, Guerin. I told you that on the phone.â
âAlexâs idea of fine is very different from mine.â Michael grumbled.
Kyle chuckled. âVery true, but I wouldnât lie to you. His wrist is broken, weâre waiting for the swelling to go down a bit before we cast him. His prosthetic was damaged when they pulled him from the car and heâs got a few cuts and scrapes, but there are no other serious injuries.â
âNot that Iâm complaining but whyâd you call me? Alex and I are barely speaking.â
Kyle stopped outside Alexâs room. âBecause he wants to go home and he canât be alone right now. I figured youâd be able to stay with him until he gets his new prosthetic.â
âWhat? Why me? Didnât you hear the part where we are barely speaking?â
âBecause you have a certain set of skills that will make taking care of him a little easier.â Kyle pushed the door open.
Michael stepped into the room and froze. Alexâs eyes were closed but he could tell he wasnât sleeping. His breath was rapid and shallow, an indication he was in pain. âWhy isnât he on pain meds?â
âBecause I donât like the way they make me feel. Kyle, is there a reason the one person I didnât want to see is standing in my room?â Alex asked without opening his eyes.
âIf you didnât want to see me, maybe you should update your emergency contact. What the hell did you do?â Michael crossed the room and stood over Alexâs bed.
Alex opened his eyes at that, hurt flashing briefly before being replaced with anger. âWhat did I do? Of course, Iâm hurt and itâs my fault.â
Michael swallowed around the lump in his throat. âThat came out wrong. What happened?â
âCar accident.â Kyle answered. âSomeone was speeding on Main Street and ran the stoplight.â
âAre we sure it was an accident?â Michael pulled a chair over and sat down. He wanted to reach out and grab Alexâs hand but wasnât sure that would be appreciated.
âYes, the driver was late for work and thought they had enough time to make the light.â Alex replied.
âYour father could still be behind it.â Michael insisted.
âDoubtful. But Iâll look into it when I get home. Speaking of, when can I get out of here?â
Kyle shifted uncomfortably. âUm, about that.â
Alex turned his head to look at Kyle. âWhat?â
âYour prosthetic was damaged when they pulled you out of the car. Itâs going to be a week or two before we can get you fitted for a new one. And your wrist needs to be cast before you can go.â
Alex closed his eyes and groaned. âSo, Iâm stuck here?â
âNot exactly. I have a solution that will let you go home this afternoon.â Kyle replied.
âAm I going to like this solution?â Alex asked.
âProbably not but the alternative is staying here or the rehab center on base.â
Alex opened one eye and tried to glare at him. âJust spit it out, Kyle.â
âMichael can stay with you.â
Alex barked out a laugh. âNo, not happening. Iâll hire someone.â
âIâm really so bad youâd rather hire a stranger? A stranger youâd have to let into your home?â Michael asked.
âYes. Iâd rather have a stranger in my home than someone who not only told me weâre not good for each other but is dating my supposed best friend.â
âWeâre not dating. And I was angry when I said that. Besides, what does any of that have to do with me helping you? Isnât that what family does?â Michael said.
Alex scoffed. âOh, weâre family now?â
Kyle sighed. âAlex, do you want to go home?â
âYes! But I donât need help.â Alex insisted.
âStop being so damn stubborn! You can survive a week or two with Michael. You know heâs the best choice to help you outâŚyou know with his special skills.â Kyle gave him a pointed look.
Alex rolled his eyes but he knew Kyle was right. Michaelâs telekinesis would help him get around easier until he could get a new prosthetic. And even though he was still angry with Michael, he trusted him. He sighed. âFine. But youâre gone the minute I get my new leg.â
âAnything you say, private.â Michael smirked when Alex turned and glared at him.
***
Michael parked in Alexâs driveway and hurried to help him out. Once he was on the ground Michael asked, âHow do you want to do this?â
âJust hand me my crutches. Iâll be fine. I donât know why Kyle insisted you stay with me.â
âBecause your wrist is broken and you shouldnât be putting weight on it.â Michael replied.
Alex rolled his eyes and Michael put his hands up in defeat. âFine. Here. Try not to fall over.â
Alex snatched the crutches from Michael and slid them on his arms. He moved to take a step and hissed at the pain shooting through his wrist. Determined to make it inside without help, he took another step and would have crumpled to the ground without Michaelâs telekinesis.
âWould you like me to carry you?â
âOver my dead body.â Alex spat out.
âYeah, thatâs not gonna happen. Iâm here to keep your stubborn ass from hurting yourself even more.â
âYouâre confusing self sufficient with stubborn. People tend to let me down so I learned to rely on myself.â Alex said.
Michaelâs brow furrowed. âWhen have I let you down?â
âDo you want a list?â Alex said without thinking. If he hadnât been staring at Michael he would have missed the pain that crossed his face. âFuck. I didnât mean that. Look, just let me lean on you and use that brain of yours to keep me upright.â
They made it into the house without incident. Michael helped Alex to his room and arranged the bed for him. âAre you hungry? I can make something,â he said softly, still hurt by Alexâs comment.
Alex shrugged. âI could eat. Hospital food sucks. Not sure what I have though, Iâm not good at the whole food shopping thing.â
âIâm sure Iâll find something. I can go shopping for you later. Just make me a list of what you like.â Michael turned to leave.
âGuerin, wait.â
Michael didnât turn around. âWhat is it, Alex?â
âIâm sorry for what I said.â
âForget about it. Iâll be back in a bit with the food.â Michael headed to the kitchen.
Alex leaned back against his pillow and closed his eyes. Why did being around Michael always throw him off balance? He thought avoiding him after he expressed his interest in Maria would help heal his broken heart and make it easier to be around him, but it didnât. It just made it painfully obvious that he still loved him. Of course, he never had the chance to tell Michael that and now he wasnât sure it would make a difference.
***
Alex woke to Michael softly calling his name. He rubbed his eyes and tried to sit up. âWhat smells so good?â
Michael set a tray on the dresser and helped Alex sit up, fluffing the pillows behind him. âJust pasta and sauce. Nothing fancy.â
âI had sauce?â Alex noticed Michael still wasnât himself and his stomach tightened with guilt.
âNo, but I found some canned tomatoes that were still good and I added some spices. I have to say I was surprised at the variety you have, I didnât think you were big on cooking.â He set the tray across Alexâs lap and placed the bottle of water on his nightstand.
âIâm not. They were a gift from Kyle. I think heâs trying to get me to stop eating so much take out and frozen dinners.â Alex took a bite of the pasta and almost moaned at how good it tasted. âThis is amazing! Whereâd you learn to cook like this?â
Michael shrugged. âHere and there. Mostly from Sanders.â
Alex lowered his eyes and took a deep breath. âMichael, I was an asshole earlier. I hate feeling vulnerable even when itâs with someone I trust as much as I trust you. Iâm sorry for saying you let me down enough that I have a list.â
âYou trust me?â Michael looked like he didnât believe him.
âWith my life.â Alex answered. âHey, can you sit down, itâs messing with my neck looking up at you.â
Michael looked around the room in confusion. Alex chuckled and patted the bed next to him. âItâs okay, I donât bite.â
He toed off his boots and settled next to Alex. âThatâs a lie you know.â
âWhatâs a lie?â
Before he thought better of it, Michael leaned close to Alexâs ear. âYou love to bite.â
Alexâs breath caught in his throat. He grabbed the water and took a big swallow, desperately trying to figure out what to say. He felt his cheeks flush and took another bite of food instead.
Michael cleared his throat. âUh, I talked to Sanders while you were sleeping and told him Iâd be staying here for a week or two. Itâs been slow at the junkyard so he wonât miss me. Iâll try not to bother you while Iâm here.â
âYou wonât be a bother. But uhâŚis Maria okay with you staying here?â Alex asked, chest tightening with jealousy he shouldnât be feeling. Michael made it perfectly clear he wasnât his anymore.
âNot sure it matters to her anymore. I was serious at the hospital, weâre not dating.â
Alex felt the tension leave him. âYouâre not?â
Michael shook his head. âNope.â
When he didnât expand on his answer, Alex cleared his throat. âIâm sorry.â
âAre you finished? Iâll clean up and head to the store for supplies.â Michael stood and took the tray from Alex. âDo you think youâll be okay for an hour?â
Alex nodded. âIf you get my wallet Iâll give you my credit card.â
Michael stiffened. âIâm perfectly capable of paying for groceries.â
Alex realized his mistake and tried to back peddle. âI know you are but youâre doing me a favor so I just figured Iâd pay.â
âItâs not necessary. You need anything before I go?â Michael asked, not meeting Alexâs eyes. Truthfully, buying extra groceries would probably leave him stretched thin for a bit but he wasnât going to admit that to Alex.
âNo. I think Iâll just rest while youâre gone. Get whatever you want since youâll be doing the cooking. Maybe we can watch a movie when you get back?â
Michaelâs heart leapt at the quietly spoken invitation. He smiled brightly. âIâd like that. Iâll be back before you know it.â He took the tray into the kitchen and headed out the front door.
Alex sighed when he heard the door close. âWhat am I doing?â
***
Michael was able to put away all the groceries, clean up the dishes from lunch and start an early dinner before Alex woke from his nap. He quietly opened the door to check on him for the third time since he got back and Alex sleepily turned his head to the sound. âYouâre back.â
âIâve been back for a while. I hope youâre okay with roasted chicken and vegetables.â
âThat sounds great. Um, could you help me up?â Alex struggled to sit up.
âYou can stay here until dinner. You should rest.â Michael said.
âIâve been resting. But now I need to use the bathroom soâŚâ
Michael rushed to his side. âSorry, I should have asked. What do you need me to do?â
Alex laughed. âJust help me up and let me lean on you. Iâve got some handrails in the bathroom so Iâll be fine once I get there.â
Michael helped him to the bathroom and let go once Alex grabbed a handrail. âIâll be right outside.â
âThanks.â
After the bathroom, Michael helped Alex get comfortable on the couch then he went to check on dinner. âItâs almost ready, do you want another bottle of water?â
âIâd actually love a beer.â Alex called back, smiling when a beer floated into his waiting hand.
Michael sat down next to Alex sipping his own beer. âHow are you doing? Still in pain?â
âNothing I canât handle.â
âWhatâs the deal with not wanting to take pain medication?â
Alex shrugged. âI donât like how they make me feel.â
âHow do they make you feel?â Michael prodded.
Alex shrugged again but didnât answer, instead he took a long drink of beer.
âSorry, itâs none of my business.â
Alex tried to meet Michaelâs eyes but quickly lowered them. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly. âItâs hard to explain. Growing up, feeling pain meant I was still alive, that my father hadnât broken me. So when I take pain meds now, my brain thinks something is wrong and I panic. I know itâs not logical and Iâll probably heal faster if Iâm not in pain but I just canât bring myself to take them.â
Michael nodded, rubbing his hand where the scars used to be. âI get it. I wish I could heal you like Max could.â
Alex reached out and took Michaelâs hand. âItâs okay that you canât.â
âI better check dinner.â Michael pulled his hand away and went to the kitchen.
Alex watched him leave and sighed. He seemed to be making Michael uncomfortable with everything he did or said. He needed to clear the air because they couldnât spend the next two weeks walking on eggshells around each other. Unfortunately, communication was not his strong suit. Everything he learned about communication came from the Air Force and his father. In the Air Force you were either the one following orders or the one giving them. And his fatherâs idea of communication was using his fists and yelling âdo you understand?â Still, he needed to do something, anything because he didnât want Michael to leave once he got his new leg. He wanted Michael to stay, forever.
Michael glanced into the living room and took a deep breath to calm his racing heart. Being so close to Alex without fighting with him brought back memories long buried. Memories of the two of them cuddled under a blanket in the back of his truck, looking at the stars and sharing their dreams. Dreams neither of them ever got to achieve. Dreams that once upon a time included each other. The few short hours he had spent in Alexâs home, cooking and taking care of him made Michael realize this is where he wanted to be. This is where he wanted to spend the rest of his life, with Alex.
***
Alex set his fork down and smiled at Michael. âI think I need to send Sanders some tequila as a thank you. I havenât eaten this good in a long time.â
Michael blushed. âHeâs more of a whisky kind of guy.â
âSeriously Guerin, dinner was delicious. I could never make something like this, thank you.â
âIt wasnât a big deal. I can teach you once youâre better.â Michael casually offered.
âIâd like that. Cooking is probably a skill I can use to keep from starving or going broke ordering takeout.â Alex joked.
Michael placed the plates in the sink. âDid you still want to watch the movie?â
âIâm still kind of tired but we can watch if you want to.â Alex offered.
Michael shook his head. âLet me get you settled in bed and then Iâll clean the dishes.â
âI was hoping to maybe take a shower before bedâŚâ
âCan you do that with your wrist?â Michael swallowed hard, trying to get the image of Alex wet and naked out of his head.
âYouâre right, maybe a bath would be better? Kyle did say the cast is waterproof so once I get in the tub Iâll be fine.â
âOkay, let me put the leftovers away and Iâll give you a hand.â Michael covered the pan and placed it in the refrigerator.
Michael turned on the water and adjusted the temperature while Alex sat on the toilet seat watching him. âThanks. Iâll call you if I need anything.â
Michael furrowed his brow. âAre you going to be able to get in without help?â
âI think Iâll be okay. I still have one good leg and one good hand but thanks.â Alex waited until Michael left before stripping and pulling himself up with his left hand. It was actually harder than he thought it would be and he lost his balance. He caught himself before he fell face first into the tub but various bottles crashed to the floor.
Michael rushed into the bathroom at the sound and sucked his breath in at the sight before him. Alex was naked, gripping the handrail, eyes a little frantic. âYou okay?â He croaked out.
Alex nodded, not trusting himself to speak yet. Michael was staring at him, the lust evident in his eyes.
âWhat do you need?â Michael asked softly, not breaking eye contact.
Alex decided to be brave. âYou.â
âWhat?â
âYou, Michael. I need you to help me into the tub and I want you to stay with me.â Alex reached out with his right hand, the left still clutching the handrail.
âI-Iâm still not sure what youâre asking?â Michael was sure Alex could hear his heart beating in his chest. Was he saying what Michael hoped he was saying? Did he want Michael like Michael wanted him?
âIâm not good with words, thatâs more your thing.â Alex began softly.
Michael smiled sweetly and took his hand, squeezing the fingers peeking out from the cast. âYou do okay.â
âI miss you, Michael. I miss your hands on my body. I miss your lips on mine. I miss the way my heart skips a beat when you do that thing with your tongue. I miss everything about you.â Alex rushed out.
Michael wrapped his free hand around Alexâs waist and pulled him close. âI miss you too, private.â
Alex opened his mouth to correct him, yet again but any sound he was going to make was silenced with Michaelâs lips on his.
When they broke apart, Alex saw Michaelâs eyes filled with unshed tears. âWhatâs wrong?â
âI never thought Iâd get to have this again. I thought I screwed it all up when I went to Maria.â Michael admitted.
Alex brushed his lips against Michaelâs again. âYou get to have this if you want it but please, can we not talk about Maria right now. I know we have to talk, like really talk but can we get naked and wet first?â
Michael kissed Alex hard and sloppy before gently helping him into the tub. Once he was sure Alex wasnât going to slip and fall, he turned off the water, stripped out of his clothes and slid into the tub. He settled behind Alex and wrapped his arms around his chest, circling his nipple with this thumb. âWe can get as wet as you want.â
A soft moan escaped from Alexâs lips. He shifted back, leaning his head against Michaelâs chest. Michael leaned down and kissed his neck behind his ear, smiling when Alex moaned. Encouraged by the soft sound, Michael slid his hands down Alexâs chest and settled them between his thighs, gently caressing him.
âYou good?â Michael asked, voice low and breathless.
âMmhmm.â Alex stretched his neck to give Michael better access.
Michael took the invitation for what it was and kissed him again. âIâve missed this.â
Alex turned and captured Michaelâs mouth with his, biting at his bottom lip. He parted his lips and Alex licked into his mouth, turning the kiss dirty and sloppy. When he broke away to catch his breath, his heart sped up at the soft look in Michaelâs eyes. He smiled and snuggled into Michaelâs neck.
âBaby, I want youâŚâ Michael whispered in his ear.
âIâm yours.â Alex whispered back, gasping when Michael wrapped a hand around him and started stroking him slowly.
âYeah? Youâre mine?â
âIâve always been yours. God, I forgot how good you are at this.â
Michael reached a hand up and gently ran a thumb across his lips. âIâm yours too, you know.â
Alex gasped when Michael nipped at a spot behind his ear before gently kissing away the sting.
âThatâs it, baby, let me hear you. How do you feel?â
âSo good, Michael, you make me feel so good.â Alex closed his eyes and lost himself in the pleasure Michael was pulling out of him. He wanted to stay in this moment forever. He never felt as safe and loved as he did with Michael wrapped around him.
Michael changed his rhythm and sped up his strokes, wanting nothing more than to bring Alex over the edge. He wasnât disappointed a few moments later when he came shouting Michaelâs name.
Alex snuggled against Michael, not caring that the water was getting cold or that his chest was covered in his come. He opened his eyes and looked up at Michael. The soft smile combined with the gentle caress of Michaelâs thumb on his cheek made him bold. âI love you.â
âI love you too, baby.â Michael kissed Alex for a few moments before using his powers to pull the plug, letting the water drain around them. He managed to get them standing without much effort. âI think we need a shower now. Then maybe bed?â
Alex ran his hands down Michaelâs chest, while he adjusted the water. âMmmm, I like the sound of that. I want to feel you inside me, want you to fuck me.â
Michael pulled the body wash to him and gently cleaned Alexâs chest. âThatâs not what I meant.â
âYou donât want to fuck me?â Alex almost sounded like he was pouting.
âOf course I do! I always want to fuck you but weâre not doing anything else tonight.â Satisfied that Alex was clean, he turned off the water and grabbed a towel to wrap him in.
âWhy not?â Michael looked at him and Alex was definitely pouting now.
âBecause you just got released from the hospital. Iâm sure sex is on the list of things Valenti doesnât want you to do. You need to relax so you can heal.â Michael guided Alex to sit on the closed toilet seat and quickly dried himself off.
Alex rolled his eyes. âIâm fine. I want this. I want you.â
Michael leaned down and kissed him. âI want you too but I also want you to get better. Youâre exhausted, I can see it in your eyes. Letâs go to sleep and see how you feel in the morning.â
âIâm still going to want you in the morning.â
Michael scooped Alex up, ignoring his sound of protest. âThen you can fuck me in the morning.â
Alex sighed against Michaelâs neck. âI could get used to this.â
âMe carrying you around?â Michael joked, setting him on the bed.
âNo, I will never get used to that. I meant usâŚI could get used to us.â
âWell, Iâm glad to hear that because Iâm not going anywhere. Iâm done pushing you away, Iâm done being the drunk asshole who hurts you, Iâm done trying to deny how I feel about you. Iâm here for as long as you want me.â Michael sat on the bed next to Alex and held his face in his hands. He rubbed his jawline and stared into Alexâs eyes. âIâm sorry for every horrible thing Iâve said or done to you. I need you to know Iâve loved you since the moment you snatched your guitar back from me, I just didnât realize until we kissed under those ridiculous fake stars.â
Alex felt a tear slip down his cheek. âMichael, Iâm sorry too. Iâm sorry for leaving you behind when I enlisted. Iâm sorry for not seeing that something else was going on that summer. Iâm sorry for every time I pulled you back in and then walked away. Iâve loved you since that day under the stars too, I just let what happened in the shed and my fatherâs bullshit get in the way. But Iâm done letting shit stand in our way. Iâve lost pieces of myself over the years, to war, to my father, to this shitty town, but not anymore. I love you and if anyone tries to hurt us again I will burn the world down to stop it. Because you are the piece I canât go through life without.â
Michael brushed the tears from Alexâs cheeks.âNothing is going to tear us apart again. You know why?â
Alex leaned his forehead on Michaelâs. âWhy?â
Michael grinned. âBecause weâre cosmic, baby.â
On Christmas morning I open the gift you handed me at the last minute as I was leaving and you got me the perfect thing and I just realized you love me back
So yeahâŚanother WIP snippit but this one is one Iâm supposed to be working on. Itâs the Alex/Isobel BFF origin story that I think only I want to read⌠đ I wrote like 300 words on it today and need a bit of motivationâŚfigured Iâd post here and see what happens...
Two hours later, Alex found himself on Isobelâs doorstep one hand clutching a ridiculously large bouquet of lilies and the other poised to knock. Before he could even get a chance the door flung open.
Isobel stood before him, looking perfect and poised the only hint of what happened the night before was a slight redness in her eyes. âYes?â
Alex let his hand drop and cleared his throat. âThese are for you.â
Isobel took the lilies and her eyes softened minutely. âMy favorite. How did you know?â
âI asked the florist downtown but they didnât know, which is kind of weird since they are the only decent florist in town and you do all your business with them. So, I called Max and of course he didnât know. I tried asking Lindsay but all that did was make her think I reconsidered being gay, yeah that was awkward as hell. I even tried calling your mother but she didnât pick up. In the end I caved and called Michael.â Alex took a breath and looked up to see Isobelâs face morphed into a mask of confusion. He lowered his eyes again. âIsobel, Iâm sorry.â
Isobel stepped aside. âDo you want to come in?â
Alex nodded and walked past her. Isobel shut the door. âIâm going to put these in water. Theyâre beautiful by the way. Who knew you had it in you?â
âI just let the florist do their job.â Alex followed her into the kitchen.
She arranged them in a vase before turning back to him. âIâm sorry too. I never should have gone into your nightmare like that. I really was trying to help.â
Alex sighed. âI know. My reaction was out of line. I didnât mean for you to leave. Please tell me you at least slept a little before you snuck out.â
âFirst of all I never sneak anywhere. And no, I left after you closed the door. I messed up, Alex, and after you had been so nice to me. Iâm trying to be a better person. I know how awful I was in high school and while I was married to Noah. But-â
Alex held up his hand. âStop. You were not awful in high school, at least not to me. You may have had some mean girl tendencies but you were never cruel to anyone. And honestly, you werenât in control half of the time so even if you were full on Regina George Iâd forgive you. And you were never awful when you were married to Noah.â
Isobel chuckled. âWhat do you know? You were gone for ten years.â
âI was here more often than you realized. And Michael always had good things to say about you.â
âYou came back during those ten years? To be with Michael?â

Can everyone who reads this PLEASE reblog it?!?!? Libraries literally saved my life as a child!
Being abused at home, bullied at school and lost in the world, the library and all the books I could escape to the most amazing worlds, kept me alive!
I would walk to the library, and spend all day, from 10 am to 9 pm reading there!! I got special awards for how many books I read, I wrote little blurbs on why i loved the books (probably why I love to BETA and do ARCs)Â
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Just hit the green arrows and the reblog!!!
As a 50 year old woman, the library offers me so much. Digital art pads to borrow, 3D printing, book clubs that are face to face (yeah, the introvert likes face to face because a moderator will stomp on anyone getting snarky)
New books in LARGE PRINT! Iâm visually challenged and as much as I love my kindle, The feel of a real book in my hands will always be a beloved feeling!
Our library also has quarterly books sales of almost free books!! For 5$USD we get in a day early and can buy as many as we want. Anyone else has to wait and there is a limit for the first 2 days.
Also many, many libraries have inter library loan(it may be called something different). This means if they donât have the item you want, they can get it for you. This may include photocopy/pdf of articles. This can also include along with books and DVDs, microfilm/fiche which is also a huge resource. Check around for libraries that are listed as depositories if you want to look at government documents.
Remember that many colleges and universities have open stacks for the public. You will likely have to pay a membership fee but you will get to stuff.
The library was one of my favorite places to go as a kid and I still live to go and just. Sit and read. Or do homework. The university Iâm at has a massive 8-story one I love to just wonder around in~ Great places
I recently was in a Small Pennsylvania Town (less than 1,000 residents â only a couple hundred in the 4 street town, most in the adjacent wooded areas) and stumbled upon their tiny library. Books were crammed everywhere, but they had everything, even comic books and chocolate for sale and a tiny display from the 4H Sewing club and a teeny tiny coffee set up. There were a couple of Community rooms jammed with toys downstairs and a Used Things area (books, records, cds) that was stacked up like a Gringotts vault. Outside they had a square foot garden and tiny chicken coop and a small outdoor sculpture section to support Local Artists. All the communityâs interests, in miniature.
with nano coming up next month, a lot of people are likely starting new wips (myself included). this is just a list of what i personally do when i start a new wip, because the nano checklist is way too structured for my incredibly chaotic brain.
iâm also a plotter (with kind of plantser tendencies) and keep in mind this is just what works for me - it may not be up your street! iâm not a professional writer either, i just do it for fun :)
1. characters
your characters the the most important part of your wip. there are millions of character sheets and guides to writing characters, but the most important things that i focus on are:
strengths and weaknesses
motivation
backstory
relationships with other characters
how they speak
once you have these, itâs really easy to form the basis of your plot and to carry it through. (i also have a bunch more posts on my instagram about crating characters!)
especially if you're a pantser, knowing your characters inside out is a lifesaver because characters kind of carry your plot. which brings me to my next point...
2. story
yes, i put story and plot as two different things. your story is essentially your main character's story or your character arc. or to put it very simply, the way that your character changes over the course of their journey. how do you establish a story, you ask?
write down what your character wants more than anything
write down what they're willing to sacrifice to get it
create obstacles
make them sacrifice as much as possible to finally get it
this would be the external story, or the outward plot (which i'll elaborate on a little bit more later). to determine the internal story, or character development, this is what i do:
write down your character's major flaws / things they need to overcome
write down obstacles to their overcoming it (these could be internal or external)
write down 3-5 events (or more) that could challenge these flaws
make them happen
3. plot
the plot is different from the story only because the plot has a structure. the nanowrimo website actually has a whole bunch of plot structures that you can use - i personally use Save the Cat! but any works! in essence, however, your plot usually has all of the following:
inciting incident: something that spins your character's world out of control
accept of adventure + rising action: your character starts their journey and tensions rise constantly, with multiple obstacles that they must overcome
failure + âall is lostâ moment: just as theyâre overcoming everything, something is thrown at them that makes them feel hopeless
climax: the big battle where you character uses everything theyâve learnt to defeat the villain
falling action + resolution: a final obstacle is overcome and a resolution is reached
not all plots strictly follow this structure, but this is quite common and gives any story a backbone.
4. worldbuilding
even if you arenât writing fantasy, you have to do some basic worldbuilding to set up your characterâs life. itâs essentially the setting that your character lives in as well as the politics of that setting.
if youâre writing fantasy or a magic system, this needs to be much more in depth, but in essence, make sure you have:
multiple settings
existing power dynamics between people and organisations
education systems, healthcare, religions
structural or systemic or governmental restrictions that may or may not hinder your characterâs progress

Alex let his head rest in the crook of Michaelâs neck for a while, content to breath in the scent of rain on Michaelâs skin and feel the press of Michaelâs lips on his head. He didnât want to leave this moment. It was what heâd been dreaming of hoping for for months, no years now. To think, heâd almost given up hope.
âAlex,â Michael said eventually, his voice so quiet Alex wouldnât have heard him if he hadnât been speaking right next to his ear. âAre you- are we- is this okay?â
Alex pressed a kiss to Michaelâs neck in answer before finally lifting his head. Michaelâs eyes held a caution that hadnât been there after their kiss and Alex realized he might have spent too long basking in the moment. âThis is very okay,â he promised. He waited just long enough for the caution to leave Michaelâs eyes before leaning forward and claiming his lips in another kiss.
Alex had no idea how they had gone years without this.
One kiss led into another and then another until they were exchanging long, slow, lazy kisses. At some point Alexâs hands had found their way to Michaelâs hips, his shirt ridden up so Alexâs thumbs could rub against his bare skin. Michaelâs hands were on his face. It was only when he felt Michaelâs fingers digging through his hair that he realized his beanie had disappeared.
âMichael,â he said in between kisses. Michael hummed and pulled back but Alex chased him for one more kiss. âWe should talk.â
That made Michael pull back entirely and Alex shivered in the chill left by the sudden absence of his hands. âWe should,â Michael agreed.
They stared at each other, both unsure where to start. Talking had never been their strong suit and though they were both trying to be better, and they both recognized that a conversation was needed and that kissing wasnât enough, figuring out a starting point was hard.
âWhyâd you kiss me?â Alex asked.
âBecause I wanted to,â Michael replied simply. âBecause I always want to and Iâve run out of reasons why I shouldnât.â Alex looked at him, unsure what to say to that. âI donât just want to kiss you, though,â Michael continued. âI want everything. With you. I want-â
âUs,â Alex cut in. Michaelâs lips quirked up and he nodded. âI want us too,â Alex admitted. The quirk of his lips turned into a full blown smile.
âYeah?â Michael let out a relieved breath.
Alex nodded, a little more vigorously than was probably needed. âYeah.â
This time they met in the middle, their hands reaching for each other.
The lights shut off around them finally reminded them of their surroundings and they separated reluctantly. Alex might have been embarrassed about the smile he couldnât get off his face except Michael was beaming like an idiot right back at him. âWe should go.â
Michael nodded and stepped closer to Alex, leaning down and reaching behind his legs to pick Alexâs beanie off of the ground. He brushed against Alex far more than was required for such an action but Alex wasnât complaining. âDonât forget this,â Michael offered it to him.
Alex almost took it before spotting something behind Michael. âKeep it,â he told him. Taking a step around him, Alex scooped Michaelâs hat off the ground and played with it between his hands before turning to face Michael. âIâve got something better.â
Michael looked from Alex to his hat and back to Alex. âYeah?â Alex shrugged. Michael looked at the hat again and then shrugged. He plucked the hat out of Alexâs hand and placed it gently on his head. âLooks good on you.â
