THEORY 1: “ESCAPISM”

So, I’m really REALLY loving a lot of the theories on how WD is literally holding Homeworld together. You see it in murals, you see it in her odd pose when Steven is taken to her. You see it in how LITERAL CABLES are attached to her.

(trying to find where I read that theory about the cables, but here is some photo evidence!)

Notice that thin white line connecting to WD? She has a whole bunch of those connected to her. You know where else we’ve seen these lines?

ALL OVER HOMEWORLD HELLOOOOO.

Blue Diamond distinctly states that WD hasn’t left Homeworld “in eons.” Would this mean WD is literally stuck keeping a broken and cracked Homeworld together? Would this result in a...song? Especially since Steven’s powers seems to have to do with breaking through even the toughest characters and their emotional stasis. I can’t help but wonder if Nephrite’s brief reveal and Steven’s healing spit could be foreshadowing not only for the healing of corrupted gems and Homeworld, but maybe even for White Diamond. Let’s look at the lyrics for the unreleased “Escapism” Rebecca Sugar posted a while back to see if this is a song that would be part of White Diamond’s “break:”

I guess I'll have to face that in this awful place, I shouldn't show a trace of doubt. But pulled against the grain I feel a little pain, that I would rather do without. I'd rather be free, free, free. I'd rather be free, free, free. Free, free, free from here.

Could the “awful place” referred to here be Homeworld? Does WD need to put up a front and not “show a trace of doubt?” Does she want to be “free” from literally holding up the world?

We know this song was already posited to be a Lapis song but she got a song and her closure is already  coming ya know.We ain’t stressing for her no more.

(This can also be an easy song choice for that creepy White Pearl, she’s got a story.)

THEORY 2 (MY FAVORITE THEORY): LOVE LIKE YOU????

You heard me right, kids. I said it. What if White Diamond is slated to REALLY sing ”Love Like You?” Ya know, that really precious and adorable ending song and literally the core of this whole show? Shows up in literally ecery episode ever??? A lot of folks have rightfully theorize Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond was the true singer of this song, a song dedicated to Steven. However, what if the “big break” for White Diamond is actually realizing that even Pink Diamond, in the form of Steven, wouldn’t even give up his love and care for the emotionally distant (and, I might even say, corrupted) mega-gem. This whole motif of “learning” how to love would have its grand finale with the menacing White Diamond who, as many have stated, seems to not be emotionally present at all. Lets look at the lyrics, shall we?

(The love for Pink Diamond, though still being unraveled in the story, is so tangible. White Diamond’s scary dialogue at the end of “Legs” could hold hidden truth of adoration, right? For her little star light? “There you are!”)

(White Diamond trying to do right for Homeworld, for the gems, for her Diamonds.)

How could you possibly think I can still be saved? I am nothing like you (Pearl even mentions this in the new episode). “When I’m coming back” could signify WD’s lost persona while literally being Homeworld lmao and could showcase how deeply, actually, White Diamond adores her “star light.” Pink Diamond, though nothing like White, and made in the image opposite to her (her diamond IS upside down) is still a diamond like her. They are still the same shaped diamond. THE SAME SHAPED DIAMOND. It’s just White’s is upright, the “perfect” one. How could we not think that White could have created Pink in her image? How could we not think that Pink was created to succeed White? Yellow and Blue’s diamonds look nothing like White and Pink’s. She was suppose to be the one. And White gave up of her, I presume. And yet still, here she is, wanting to love White just the same.

Steven has some work to do on White Diamond, but Rebecca Sugar herself even says that there is no real villain in Steven Universe.

White Diamond, in the end of it, could come to terms with all that she has done (which we are still just finding out) and learn to love like Steven. Like Rose. Like Pink.
