It's not enough to make a mockery of women's social identity. Now apparently our sexual identity, like the biological state of being a literal female bodied person is also theirs to play with.

I’m from Los Angeles. I see the impact this anti-immigration tirade is having on the community first hand: coworkers, friends, classmates, neighbors — it all sucks and everyone’s so angry and afraid.

I don’t need society to “deliver” me anything. I have had no issues living as me. I went through the outlined medical and legal steps, received substantial therapy, and successfully transitioned to living as a gay adult man. I had full time employment as an adult man. No one even really cared until Trump and the general alt right started making it an issue.

And your statement that you don't need society to deliver you anything is directly contradictory to your apparent passing, that's society delivering that to you top to bottom; from the legal permissions to medical interventions to people mistaking you for a man and treating you accordingly. What does all that even mean without the social context? You're not a man and you know that. Without societal validation of what your appearance superficially implies and what those Ms mean on your papers what's 'man' about you?

But the point I actually wanna make is about your certainty that you wouldn't find employment as a "male passing" woman. Firstly that's just objectively not true. GNC women... have jobs.

Secondly, again, this is another issue TRAs swear it's a specific, exclusive matter of transphobic discrimination when it's just the mother of all bigotry, misogyny.

Why would a masculine looking woman have a hard time finding employment otherwise? What exactly is the issue?

What would be the difference between you, looking convincingly male with an F on your papers but calling yourself a transman, and another woman looking convincingly male with an F on her papers who doesn't call herself anything?

I guess - why is this a problem? My students call me mister, the convenience store guy calls me boss man. I piss in the men’s restroom. Socially, I have fully transitioned. The majority of people (essentially, everyone but my doctors and the people I fuck) in my life have no idea that I am not a cisgender man. I live in a place where it would not be physically *safe* to be out - I often travel to places where that little “f” would get me raped and murdered.

This hasn’t been a problem for the last ten or so years of my life. Why is it a problem now? Why should the government be able to say, retroactively - the last ten years of your life as a man didn’t count?

For all the talking about me needing something from society to be recognized as male - if you passed me in the street you would see me as a man. You would use “he” to describe me. I am unambiguously read as male in every social interaction, without any effort on my part - people wouldn’t “respect my pronouns” lol. (Even *naked* I am able to pass - I haven’t had bottom surgery but testosterone has created a micro penis)

So again, am I supposed to shave?

If he didn't he would be seen as a trans women and a pervert by the logic of transphobes, he wouldn't be noticed as a GNC cis women at all, he would be harrassed as a pervert, as a non transition trans woman

The bill H.R.22 has been introduced and it is currently being fast-tracked. The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act will require you to register in person from now on and with proof of citizenship documentation. You will now be required to provide your Driver's License and your Passport or Birth Certificate. The gotcha here is that you cannot register to vote if the documentation doesn't match- so, for example, if your birth certificate has your maiden name but your driver's license shows a married name, you'll not be able to register to vote without jumping through additional hoops (as to be determined by each state).

This will add significant barriers to voting for women, especially married women, poor women, rural women, disabled women and WOC, as updating/acquiring this type of paperwork costs money and time and is more accessible in some areas than others. They are using anti-immigration sentiments as a smokescreen for this legislation. Make no mistake, the only people who will be affected by this are American citizens. Non-citizens can't vote anyway. This only affects people who were able to vote before.

The main barriers here that will primarily affect women, especially already marginalized women:

Name matching: women who are married/divorced or who have changed their name for any reason

In-person meeting: Poor people, elderly, disabled, rural, isolated/abused women

Requiring Driver's License: Poor people, elderly, disabled

In general, requiring poll workers/DMV staff to check extra documents on or before election day will have a significant impact on poor and marginalized communities that are understaffed/under-resourced to fulfill these requests.

As President Donald Trump's anti-DEI agenda comes to bear on NASA, we're getting a revealing look at what his administration considers to be too woke: women.

In a directive sent out just days after Trump's inauguration, NASA personnel were commanded to excise all mentions of anything "specifically targeting" women on the space agency's public websites, 404 Media reports.

"Per NASA HQ direction, we are required to scrub mentions of the following terms from our public sites by 5pm ET today," the directive reads. "This is a drop everything and reprioritize your day request."

The list of verboten terms includes "DEIA," "accessibility," "indigenous people," "environmental justice," and finally: "anything specifically targeting women," such as "women in leadership, etc."

Speaking anonymously to 404, a NASA employee confirmed that leadership were serious about the changes.

The little girls in the photo aren't all white, and fairness and safety in women's sport, as we know, is not a white issue.

It's pretty clear that JKR is trying to point out how sick it is that these children have to thank a monster for keeping them safe. The left has created a situation where these girls, these athletes, have to crowd around a rapist, who has and will continue to take away their bodily autonomy, and thank him for at least keeping them safe from boys and adult men taking away their hard-won athletic achievements and putting them under the constant threat of harassment and sexual assault.

i actually really like jo. i admire her. so seeing her slow slide into reactionary politics is like a knife to the back for me. women who sympathize with the far right because they’re frustrated about trans issues are weak-willed sex traitors who have abandoned their sisters. maybe i’m wrong and jo will surprise me, but if i’m right and she continues to ingratiate herself with the likes of elon musk (who is a big fan of hers!) then i guess i’ll simply be able to say i told you so. which doesn’t feel good. i’m not happy about this shit.
