as a former yearbook editor and designer, let me explain this further

Before someone tries to print a poster and gets disappointed in the result: For printing, your document needs to be in a file types that can be saved in CMYK because that’s how printers are calibrated. So that leaves you with (from best to worst) : PSD, EPS, TIFF, JPEG. The higher your dpi, the better your resolution. (less visible pixels) Please note that JPEG’s best use is for posting images online as they are LIGHT and load easily and fast. Compared to PNGs who are a lot heavier for the same size/resolution. PNG is indeed a very good format to work in and preserve your art. Not so much to post online, unless you don’t mind other people having the possibility to download its full quality version. Low rez JPEG prevent them to physically copy/print/reuse it without your consent. —————————- In short: Work in high dpi PNG (RGB) 300dpi - 600dpi Print in PSD, EPS, TIFF (CMYK) Post online in JPEG (RGB) —————————-
