Shauna, Shauna, Shauna. Why do you insist on trying to replicate the very worst version of your dead best friend? You're trying (and failing) to emulate Jackie, whilst simultaniousy taking your anger with yourself out on Melissa who has done nothing but try to support and love you!
The thing I find fascinating about Melissa and Shauna's dynamic is that I’m not even certain that Mel wants Shauna to be a nice person. Not to anyone else but her, anyway. Leading up to this exchange all Melissa really wanted was for Shauna to cool the fuck down for a second and give any indication that she saw Mel as a real person. She had just been shot through the shoulder. She’s tired and in pain. Honestly, any other time she would probably been fine with Shauna being jealous. Might have liked it even. But calling her stupid, naive, and then yelling at her in public? That was multiple steps too far and I am proud at her for standing up for herself.
Add to that the tightly wound, volatile entity that is Shauna Shipman. Shauna is so embarrassed at being called out in public. It's a direct trigger for memories of those finale moments that she shared with Jackie. More crucially, she's clinging to the title of Queen by the tips of her fingers, and refuses to let the other yellowjackets see her as weak. That little side eye? Amazing choice Sophie Nelisse!
So Shauna did what Shauna always does when boxed into a corner. Grandstands and looses her fucking mind. She’d already backed down from shooting that misogynistic intruder, so having her bluff called again? Only way that was going to end was in disaster.
