Laugh Hard, Run Fast, Be Kind

Peter Cushing's second (and final) adventure as Dr. Who is a bigger and more cinematic outing than its predecessor, escaping the confines of the studio for a hectic runaround the backlot.

Things are moving fast. I like it.

Yeah, it isn't flashy, but it is good clear visual storytelling, showing us exactly who is in the scene, where they are positioned with no blocking issues to allow for the camera and editing to flow smoothly from shot to shot when it is time for each character to have the focus.

What is it about this movie? Why, nearly sixty years after its release, is it still so beloved, so often cited, and watched and rewatched by generations of filmgoers? Of course it’s because it’s a wonderful story brought to life by two iconic actors, but it is more than that. It is a story that resonates, that speaks to people on a level that touches their heart.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood (or its delightful acronym, BoMB) is a spinoff prequel centering on the parents of Outlander's two main characters, Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp. This series was created by Outlander's show runner Matt Roberts, and is not based on anything written by Diana Gabaldon except for a few brief tidbits of Jamie's memories of his parents, and Claire relating that her parents were killed in a car crash when she was five.
