The whole metaverse can no longer be properly viewed without an account and I am definitely not making one just to see your contact info or opening hours.

Facebook, Instagram or any social media is a place where you do NOT set the rules. They can change the rules any time and delete your account, put a shadow ban or just change the algorithm so you no longer reach your clients. If you get all your clients via said social media, deleting your account means a serious (if not deadly) hit for your business.

Not to mention things like distractions. I haven't logged into my Facebook account for months because I got annoyed by all the things there. There are too many notifications or options that attack the user the very minute they log into their account. Unless they've already decided to buy your product/services, they may as well drift to other places on Meta.

And — this one might be my personal issue but I usually find it hard to get any info from the Facebook page. Until I get to opening hours or address it means clicking through several options because I never remember where to look for specific info, especially if the business doesn't put said info in a place easy to find. I used to go to a bistro that was only on Facebook. They had a daily menu there but if you didn't know the prices, you'd have to scroll waaaaaay down to find them.

The small business owner or nonprofit director takes an hour to make a basic website

Their thousands of potential customers each have to go to extra trouble to find out information on them
