Comic part 1 out of gods know how many. I was writing a fic, got bored and yeah. This. There will be more, I say ominously, knowing that ao3 writer's curse can't get me here >:)

Hollow wants to make up for all the lost time and little Hornet's many requests that had been ignored,

We're going to go with the "sing with her?" Objective, based on how Hornet plays the Needolin in Silksong.

Heyyy... I know it's been like a month since I said I'd be finished, but I had to violently beat burnout back into Hell where it belonged first. 🙃 Whether I used a broom, a bat, or a machete, I shall leave up to you and your imagination.

To Bind Our Echoes That We May Be Whole

The apocalypse has come and gone, and against all odds, Pharloom remains standing. The time has come for Hornet to return to Hallownest, accompanied by friends and allies: Shakra hopes to explore the mythical land beyond the wastes, and properly lay to rest a member of her own tribe; Lace fears unraveling without the aid of a Weaver, while contending with the immensity of a future free of her mother’s threads; and the Green Prince lives only only to spite the Citadel, passively seeking a more honorable end than might be found in the rubble of his homeland. Meanwhile, Hornet returns from Pharloom with magic and knowledge that might aid in the slow recovery of Hallownest and Deepnest–and perhaps offer the chance to call home the sibling she once thought lost to her forever.

Chapter 4: Living is a Funeral to Self you Buried

At long last, Hornet arrives home, welcomed by the White Lady and her elder sibling. We finally get to see Hornet's softer, more playful side. Introductions are made, gifts are given, and Lace rapidly learns that the spider has little patience for insults to her sibling.

Note: This comic does not ship Hollow with anybody. They are not flirting, and do not see gifting flowers as a romantic gesture, nor is it received as such. However, Lace is likely the only recipient to kind of grasp the value of the gift.

Special thanks to @ziracrowshipper, @chosaint, and @mastertorchmaster for their advice on adapting sign language for Hollow. I ended up going with something simple (implying the whole sign by doing half the motion with their available hand); hopefully nothing egregiously wrong with that representation. I don't expect a lot of sign to show up in this comic, for a variety of reasons, but where it makes sense to include it I will continue to try my best.

A Father's elegy to The Hollow Knight

They presume the Pale King resorted to the vessel plan immediately when the first sign of the infection came up. They also assume that the vessel failed immediately and that he booked it when that happened. Ignoring the fact the civilization obviously survived long enough for a statue to be built honoring the Hollow Knight. Not the Pale King for devising the plan, barely even acknowledging the Dreamers for their efforts, the Hollow Knight itself is the main centerpiece.

"But he murdered a billion of his children and then abused one of them." Killing eggs and killing children is far different. The Pale King probably didn't think he had a kid to abuse. He had an eldritch flesh automaton wearing the skin of a potential son that he trained for his purposes. And guess what? He had affection for that flesh automaton anyways, despite the fact that he thought that would make it impure, that it would make it fail of he loved it. He felt affection for his dead gay son and thought himself a failure and a horrible person for it.

"He's an imperialist jackass!" Yes, of course, he's an imperialist because he conquered *checks notes* 1 civilization, if we stretch the definition of conquer? Because the moths weren't taken by force, all the Seers dialogue suggests that they joined him of their own volition. If the Radiance herself just told the Pale King that her people coming to her side made her feel bad, I see no reason that he wouldn't suggest she join him and make some agreement, considering every other civilization in Hallownest.

The Mantises, the Hive, The Green Children, and the Weavers were all left alone, and Hallownest traded with the latter. And there is no evidence that there was any prolonged violent conflict between their people. Like there isn't a Radahn-like battlefield covered in weapons and corpses to suggest that Pale King resorted to conquering first. He seemed perfectly content with having his little civilization and letting the other beings have theirs.

And I'm sure someone will bring up the maggots or the class difference, but that sort of stuff exists in every civilization *in our own history*, and its clear he didn't micromanage his civilization because of the emphasis he put on individuality.

"He was an absentee father" except his theme is all throughout the flashback. Hornet's creativity and aptitude for tools is reflected by his obvious talent for creation. She followed in his footsteps by using the void to try and fix a problem (even unknowingly) only to make the problem more dire.

Not only that, but it's obvious that he cared for his people over his own, over his relationship for his White Lady, over the potential of him having children. His kingdom was everything to him, and I think that also reflects Hornet's actions. Sure, her Wyrm blood might make her predisposed to dominate, but it was how she was raised that makes her want to do that by helping others.

And sure, maybe that was fostered mostly by her mothers, but also consider Hornet's thoughts on him via her Hunter's Journal entries; the only bad thing she calls him is a fool. I think that speaks volumes of their relationship, and what the Pale King was.

Just finished The Amazing Digital Circus. It was far from perfect, but fun!

What I found quite interesting is how each members of the circus mirror one aspect of Jax, yet they're able to pull through with their connection with one another, but he did not. Mainly because he's an abusive ass and is weird about opening up due to trauma history. Example of what I observed:

- Kinger missing his family / Kinger could have filled the role Jax's Absent Father left like he does for Ragatha/Pomni

- Ragatha & Jax both have emotionally abusive mother who weaponizes their emotions against them

- Zooble's struggle with their queerness & dysphoria / Jax was confirmed as trans

- Gangle's masking / Jax's cagey-ness about his own emotions and hides behind 'character archetype'

- Pomni as basically a fusion of his abstracted friend, having Ribbit's kindness and openess + Kaufmo's whole Clown Thing

- Ragatha's kindness is only a ploy so she can manipulate him like his mom did. I wanted her tears to shape kinda sharp like in that scene where Rag's moms throw knives at her. Jax is made of papers here and it would crumble him.

- The reason he's so harsh on Gangle is because she showed up right after Ribbit abstracted, and he's deep in denial about his own responsibilities at this point that he leans hard on to this mask/ cruel nonchalant archetype and pushed it on to her the most. Hence Gangle is in place of the ribbon Ribbit placed on him and linking directly to her. Furthermore, Gangle is feminine and she cries and she's everything he looks down upon and yet afraid to be like, so she got a fucking chokehold on him.

- Zooble in pieces because hes also aimless about his own identity. Not sureeee if this is conveyed as well as I wanted but Zooble is supposed to be in a fallen-down position with all their pieces apart similar to how Jax pushed his mom in their final argument. That's kinda the overarching fear haunting him ever since I believe: everything he touches he ruined and hurt. Fear of hurting loved ones is a very common reason why people commit suicide after all.

- Not much more on Kinger, just I wanted him to be half-way 'out of the picture' since he's not there all the time due to his fractured mind.
