but like a. no amount of great white gay detective films can really balance out how he saw one of the biggest franchises in the world start to give a black man rep as a LEAD and went out his way to make sure he was silencedā¦ and lectured about how slavery is bad
and b. no he rly didnāt create a good detective film š yāall just havenātā¦ actually engaged with much detective content so his constant rehashing of tropes and caricature felt like ~self aware wit and not just laziness. and donāt feed me the āitās anti capitalist!!ā line likeā¦ yeah in a very surface level well it has found a way to vilify the uber rich but a. benoit is literally wealthy š and b. eat the rich is trendy and they still never actually let the poor and sidelinedā¦ eat the rich. the movie was ālet the upper middle class get revenge on the billionaire that fumbled their bagsā
likeā¦ no film could balance out the practically malicious harm he did with TLJā¦ but if there were a film or film series that couldndo thatā¦ it wouldnāt be the benoit films
