Also because I just like representing non-conventionally attractive features in my Y/N characters. Though I’m not really sure if it comes off that way because my art style unintentionally makes them all look “pretty” (gender neutral). Point is, I think there are a lot of beautiful looking people out there with buck teeth, for example, that aren’t often depicted in media unless they’re the weird, undesirable geek, cast-out character. And those characters end up getting them “fixed” just to look acceptable.

Drawing Y/Ns is a good opportunity, in my opinion, to explore different features and portray them as desirable— after all, a Y/N’s a Y/N because we want to see ourselves in them and they’re often the loved and adored character in the media they’re inserted in. I haven’t made enough Y/Ns to prove my point though, but I definitely have done a few variety of Y/Ns like my TFC one who don’t have conventionally attractive (or even eurocentric) features but are still loved and adored by the character (s) they’re shipped with.

It's heartbreaking. Left and right people are having to hole themselves away because they're terrified of being harassed and threatened.

Fandom used to be a place of fun and whimsy and fanart and fics used to be adored. Now more and more creators are forced to stop being online entirely because of how at each others throats everyone is.

I hope they get peace of mind. This is just awful all around. Fandom is dying because people refuse to be better.

Harassers will go out of their way to spew hate and unfounded nonsense but won’t take five seconds to post something positive in their own spaces, and when we don’t do the same, when we don’t show support or thanks or even a fucking heart emoji, creators and artists alike feel like no one’s in our corner and that no one cares.

Fandom is dying. Fandom is becoming toxic to the point people who do this for a LIVING are throwing in the towel. And being silent and scrolling by and not even giving a share to spread their works or a like or a shout out- not even commenting to the people who are spewing the hateful shit- it’s letting it die without a fight.

It’s just so fucking sad. Fandom is all I have to escape the real world bullshit and now somehow, it’s being taken away from me too.
