Please consider that this is what my sleep deprived brain wrote at 3 am and thought I had send lol and I haven’t reread the books in years so most of what I think are just vibes

I loved to read more about your take on their relationship and I couldn’t agree more. And I think that the fact that Ronan grew up catholic is the cherry on top of his submissive tendencies. To me it’s honestly impossible to be raised in Catholicism and not have unhealthy doses of catholic guilt. I think this increments their d/s dynamics bc Ronan can find in Adam an absolution for his burdens, I personally think he’s not there as a judge but more as a active listener much like Catholics hope God is listening to them.

But my perspective in them did change a lot since I first read. I also don’t think they’re 24/7 in a d/s dynamic but before I did approach Adam’s need for control as a burden to him. As if his need for control got inverted in a sexual relationship but I also could never see him as a passive partner, but letting go momentarily so Ronan could steer him how he liked and Adam could breath for a second and not have everything so tightly in his grasp.

But now I don’t quite see it like that, because he doesn’t, in fact, have most things under his control. For someone so manipulated and ingenious it might be that having control in a sexual environment is for him the same release Ronan gets from being allowed to follow.

On the part of his ego stroke to be fucking somewhat of I god: I couldnt agree more. And something I think does it for Adam (both of them really): security. He knows Ronan will be waiting for fim, will listen to him, he knows he is respected. He knows he has Ronan wrapped around his finger. And when has he ever know stability like that?
