oh god yeah i wasn't trying to like convert you or anything dw. like i said you're totally entitled to your own comfort and deserve to use whatever terminology aligns best with yourself/makes you feel the most comfortable in your body.

but here's my question: if I like petplay but hate "puppy"/"kitten" stuff (prefer "dog"/"cat" because it sounds adult and I'm a grown man) and terms like "puppy parts" and such (I just call things by their names) does that make me like.. bad..? i don't judge anyone who uses them I just move on w my life if I see it but I've been itching to have a friend or two or just someone to talk to about this stuff and I genuinely cannot find a single person who isn't exclusively all about "puppy" play. even though I swear I've been looking.

someone told me the other day that my rejection to that side of petplay/terms etc makes me stupid and a stick in the mud so I was wondering if thats like... true. i just hate infantilisms deeply and leave others alone / don't judge anyone.

i guess what I'm trying to ask is if I'm the problem or if I'm just too niche / weird and am alone in this. thank you for reading, I really like your blog and you post a lot of stuff that resonates a lot with me 🫶🏼

i figure much like anything you're entitled to your own preferences! a lot of people who engage in petplay use "mutt" and "hound" and "dog" instead of puppy and i don't consider them "bad" in any respect.

i can only speak for me, but i like "puppy" not because it's infantilising or diminishing but because there's an element of release in it. a mischievous, bad-mannered rough-and-tumble animal that can bite and play and snuggle up to its preferred person without any of these behaviours being treated as "unusual" or really noteworthy. because of my general public-facing attitude, i don't get the opportunity to be physically affectionate or cute or soft without it being commented on (which then turns me off from doing it because it feels othered). a puppy can do those things. a puppy can play too hard and use its teeth and then curl up on a lap and get demanding about being petted without anyone making the puppy the core of the joke. it's got really nothing to do with being small or being a baby or anything.

(inb4 i know people do in fact like puppy because of the being small and being a baby and i cannot stress enough how much i believe to my core that you should be able to do whatever you want with your kink. just because i personally don't engage in it the same as someone else doesn't mean i'm dictating the "right" way to do it. sanitisation and morality policing is the death of freedom)

i'm decently sure phrases like "puppy parts" are used because a lot of the people in the puppyplay scene are trans and direct genital references can trigger dysphoria. i don't use them personally because i'm fine and comfortable with "pussy" and "cunt" and "clit" and don't plan on getting bottom surgery but i understand that for a lot of people in the scene, references to their anatomy in a way that's comfortable for them is half the point. you don't want to avoid talking about your body because the words themselves feel misaligned to you.

basically i think it all depends on what YOU want to call yourself, on how YOU want to refer to your body, on how YOU treat other people in the community. there's no "good" or "bad" way to be into petplay as far as i know.
