wanting and not wanting at the same time
a comic for asexual awareness week
bringing this back today for the start of pride month. still overwhelmed by how well this comic went down and with how many people relate. itās easy to think aro-ace people are all totally accepting of their identities and really proud of who they are. i guess on websites like this you see a lot of people proudly putting their identity in their bio, a flag in their profile picture.
in fact i think a lot of aro-ace people really hate that part of themselves, hide it, and struggle for a long time to āacceptā who they are and feel any sense of āprideā. thatās the feeling i wanted to capture here. the disappointment, the loneliness, upon realising that you canāt feel what is such a wonderful thing. the embarrassment of not being ānormalā, of being some random sexuality that nobody irl has heard of, and letting down those around you because you canāt be who they want you to be. how desperately you want to change, how desperately you want to feel. but you just canāt.
i know not all aro-ace people feel like this. i know lots of aro and/or ace people feel able to be in relationships, to feel closeness and have partners in other ways. but i think itās important to be aware that some aro-ace people do feel like this.
the comments on this comic have mostly been great but a few have been very frustrating. a comment it got a lot was along the lines of āaw!! you donāt need to have sex to be in a relationship!ā. you completely missed the point, hah. this is not a comic about sex. itās about a lack of feeling, the lack of something beautiful other people seem to have. another comment that popped up a few times was āmaybe sheās a lesbianā. well maybe lesbians and aro/ace girls have more in common than people think - maybe they both often struggle to accept that they feel no attraction to men, even though society has conditioned them to do so, sometimes spending years trying to force themselves to like men in that way, when they just canāt.
this comic is called āwanting and not wanting at the same timeā because she wants to love. but when it comes down to the reality, she canāt fulfil the requirements of that. she wants to love someone forever, to get married and have children and grow old with her soulmate, but she doesnāt want it with this person. or that person. or anyone she meets or will ever meet. a sort of catch 22, i guess.
hope that makes sense. thanks for listening, and have a lovely pride month ā¤ļø

Reblog if itās ok for your mutuals to just send you posts they think youād like or talk to you about random parts of their day
Happy Pride to all my LGBT Muslims! I hope that Ramadan has been great to you! remember that Allah loves you and that your identity and faith can coexist ā¤ļøš§”šššš³ļøāš
letās do a brown girl aesthetic one bc i am curious??Ā
are you mehndi on the palm of the hand or back of the hand? anklets or bangles? sari or lehenga? summer or winter fabrics?Ā
Mehndi on the back of the hand, Bangles, Lehenga, Winter Fabrics!
mehndi on the back of the hand, anklets, sari, summer fabrics

A few not-as-nice reminders about PRIDE:Ā
Pedophiles are not LGBT, no adult engaging in a sexual relationship with a minor gets to call themselves LGBT and if you think they do fucking block me and throw yourself into the sun
TERF rhetoric is toxic and stupid and no one needs your transphobic ass any time of the year, much less the time of year when trans people should be taking pride in their identities (which is also year round)Ā
It is not, under any circumstances, okay toĀ āoutā someone. I donāt care if you think your intentions are good. this can destroy someoneās life. A young person could end up homeless. Or dead.
POC belong at PRIDE just as much as everyone else (we would not have this without black trans women, show some respect)
You donāt know if theĀ āapparently straightā couple who you see at PRIDE is composed of two straight people - one could be bisexual, one could be asexual, both could be, I mean, like, donāt be that person
Or they could be there to support someone who mightāve otherwise been alone, like, just, donāt be that person who polices sexualities and shit okay
Bisexuality, pansexuality, and polysexuality all exist and deserve to be respected
seriously itās completely possible to be attracted to two or more genders or be attracted regardless of gender and our identities donāt hurt anyoneĀ
Just because you are LGBTQIA+ doesnāt mean you arenāt capable of being an asshole, and if you useĀ āIām gay!ā as an excuse you need to grow up (this applies year round)
Asexuals and aromantics belong at PRIDE just as much as any other LGBTQIA+ individual, I really donāt care how many letters are in theĀ āalphabet soupā, you have a valid identityĀ
polyamory is when three or more people engage in a consensual relationship, not when one person is with someone else behind their partnerās backĀ
polyamory is not superior to monogamy or vice versaĀ
buying PRIDE gear for your sexuality/gender doesnāt mean youāre selling out or giving into capitalism, if it makes you happy do it and donāt let people shame you for it
and honestly like isnāt it good for it to be normalized? I am all for Target having a PRIDE section, thatās amazing
Not everyone is okay with using the word or calling themselvesĀ āqueerā, if theyāre not okay with it donāt call them thatĀ
bisexuality is not transphobic and pansexuality is not biphobicĀ
stay safe at PRIDE - donāt accept open drinks from strangers, ever, no matter what, people can be awful anywhere you go, just stay safeĀ
you donāt have to come out just because itās PRIDE month, if it isnāt safe for you (i.e. youāll be on the streets, homeless, etc) donāt pressure yourselfĀ
thatās all I have, Iām sure thereās probably more
Also
Intersex people are welcome! Not everyone whoās intersex wants to ID as LGBT+ but if they do solely based on their being intersex, let them!

I love this quote. I love this movie.
This scene impressed me so much when I first saw it. It still fills me with⦠idk something. I love it.
The first time I truly understood this scene I was filled with a terrifying understanding.
It fills you with wonder
No joke I would pay good money to see a live-action āKim Possibleā featuring Zendaya as Kim Possible, Tom Holland as Ron Stoppable, and Jacob Batalon as Wade.
nothing has made more sense to me in my entire lifeĀ
This show is mostly kinda dumb and badly paced but it has its moments.
āGirls want a Superman, but they walk past a Clark Kent every dayā
You fuckin CLOWNS think youāre a CLARK KENT? Not on my fuckin watch. You dumb, headass motherfuckers are barely a Guy Gardner and you think youāre a CLARK KENT? The amount of disrespect is unreal.
Listen here, wannabes: My boi Clark is 240 lbs of PURE KANSAS BEEF trained from a young age by Ma Kent to Love and Respect women as the Intelligent, Independent beings they are.Ā He is shy rambling about tractors and casually moving the copy machine when my pen falls behind it and he would NEVER demand I be sexually or romantically interested just because heās nice.
Yāall aināt Clark Kent.
I have never hit the reblog button so damn fast.
ābarely a Guy Gardnerā is the sickest comics related burn Iāve heard to date.Ā
stop bullying that white boy about the frog in his mouth he seems niceĀ
If heās so nice why did he trap that frog
you foolā¦.it wants to be there..it feels safe& protected

Nerd Character: [sentence with 11th-grade levels of vocabulary and one scientific term]
āNormal Personā Character: In English, please.
Since I havenāt seen any mention of it yet, except on twitter, iād also like to remind everyone that not only is June LGBT pride month, but itās also Indigenous History month!
Please take the time to support, uplift and remember your Native, First Nations, Aboriginal and otherwise Indigenous friends and family. We are here, we exist! We have a long and winding history that deserves to be heard and respected! The word āIndigenousā is so wonderful, and so expansive, and includes so many different cultures under its arms. Go out, learn about our histories and our cultures. Talk to the Indigenous people around you! Weāre everywhere!
And not only that, but also be sure to give extra support to LGBT indigenous voices in this community. We are a minority that is scarcely acknowledged, and in desperate need of it. Too many times have I gotten strange looks for being so openly Native and so openly a lesbian. Itās as if that combination is impossible for people to understand. Support our content, buy from our stores! Or at least just include us!
Iād like to wish a happy LGBT pride month, and a happy Indigenous History month to everyone, but especially us LGBT Native folks. This really is our month to be open about ourselves, and I sure intend to.Ā šš³ļøāš
