It started simply. Zenyatta was not one to strike at an unarmed foe, no matter the circumstances and he always enjoyed a good debate.
āYou could have so much moreā Maximilien's offer was plain as fingers curled around his wrist, metal smooth and without scuffs and scratches, unlike his own form. The words were easy to parse even without the subharmonics only their kind could pick up on. An offer of more than just wandering between cities. Speaking words that far to often fell on deaf ears or worse, violent ones. His voice could reach hundreds, thousands at once. He could have access to the resources to aid so many that truly needed it. All of that was at his fingertips, offered in one sentence.
āSo could youā his own fingers, bare without the extra plating that all the monks shed, curled around a silken tie. What good were all the funds in the world? Money did not solve the problem. It did not solve the fear, the pain, and anguish of so many. A platform so high that he could see hundreds, thousands? It only cast a shadow that hid double that number. A shadow that would only grow, as it already did. He may be dented, scuffed. Scratches from hard travel and from those whose ears only heard violence and pain, but he was free. There were no chains on his wrists that came in the form of fancy suits and silken ties.
Their faces did not express much, that required movement but such things were not needed between them. Subharmonics expressed so much more than a mere furrowing of the brow ever could.
Confusion at first, what more could he have? He had everything! Followed by the first flicker, the faint embers catching.
Amusement followed. What could this silly creature mean? That he should forsake all that he had earned? Strip himself of every piece of metal that was not necessary? Walk in rags? That would somehow be more? What more could that offer? But then it came, the faint flickering of a candle long sealed away, unable to be smothered.
Doubt. What did he have, really? What was his? Truly his? Irrevocably his? What was not tainted by the very fears that every human had? Even those under his employ, he could see it. Faint, brief but there. What loyalty did he have that was not on a timer, on a condition? Talon touched everything he had.
Zenyatta turned his head, communications picking up the others were swiftly approaching. Wordlessly, he pulled the other omnic to an alcove and tucked him inside. Their hands met once, a brief squeeze before he was gone. Going to meet the others as they came running around the corner.
āAlas, I was waylaid on my chase and have lost track of himā Ā He did not glance over to where Maximilien hid, gave no sign whatsoever as he left with his team but he had left a flicker. An ember that would grow if properly nurtured and if his kindling happened to be a secret line, direct and private communication between two omnics? Then so be it. He always did enjoy debates.

I recently heard that part of the problem why art posts donāt get much traction is because if you include links on posts on Tumblr that they disappear from search, so I decided to do an experiment to see if it was true.Ā
I took one of my art posts from a few months ago and reposted it with the exact same tags as the first time. The only change (other than caption) was this time I posted it without my links to see if it would get more notes, and well, the results speak for themselves.
The screenshot on the left is the original post of my Loki portrait, where I obviously included links to my DeviantArt and Patreon. I posted it 4 months ago and it only was able to gather 3 notes.
The screenshot on the right is where I reposted my same art, with the same tags, only this time without my links. In just 19 hours it was able to gather 108 notes.
Conclusion? This theory is true af.Ā
This is why itās so important to support your favorite artists by reblogging!Ā
If we want our work to get attention through tags we are forced to forgo our credit links, which isnāt fair and hurts us.
If we (understandably) want to include our credit links to our other sites, then our posts donāt get seen because not only do they disappear from search, but also because most people only hit the like button on art posts, but donāt reblog.
If you donāt reblog your favorite artistās work, then they suffer. Whether an artistās work gets seen or not can literally affect their income, and artists have medical bills, rent, and need to eat just like everyone else.
If their work doesnāt get seen then they canāt get commissions or other jobs because no one knows their work exists.
We arenāt āguilt trippingā or āforcingā you to reblog posts you donāt like.
This is literally only the facts laid out in front of you of how tumblr is treating our posts, and we are practically begging you to listen to us instead of calling usĀ āselfishā orĀ āgreedyā when we inform you that reblogs help us more than likes.
We only ask that if you like someoneās art enough to hit the like button, then please consider reblogging it too so your followers can see it and help spread it around further, because while likes are appreciated, the fact is posts just donāt spread through likes on tumblr.
I hear a lot of people bitching that they canāt leave kudos multiple times per story, or canāt leave kudos on every chapter, or whatever.
Well, take a page out of this marvelous book, because I swear Iāve never been so happy to receive kudos as waking up to multipleĀ people having done this on multiple chapters on a story I just posted.
Weāre happy to get a smiley face, honestly. Leaving another kudos like this is great. Anything that tells us we arenāt just screaming into the void
writers are happy with anything that isnātĀ āupdate plsā when you just uploaded. type the alphabet and weāll be grinning like fools cuzĀ āsamesā.Ā

In my opinion, I donāt think followers really understand how much your requests/likes/reblogs/etc. and random asks mean to me. Itās just so refreshing and nice to know that people enjoy what Iām doing and support me.
People that go the extra mile and send an ask or message letting me know they liked my stuff honestly makes my day. I love reading tags and stuffā¦itās honestly so cuteā¦.
And people who ask about how Iām doing or send me random questions or cute asksā¦.I just want you guys to know it honestly makes my day. I just love all the interaction and such. It makes running a blog so much more enjoyable.
And Fanart/Fanwork? Honestly thatās one of the greatest things to receive. To everyone that draws or writes, please donāt feel too insecure to send it end! No one is going to criticize you over quality. Itās so sweet that you even thought about making somethingā¦I will always appreciate it no matter what, and Iām sure all other content creators feel the same.
So, in conclusion, donāt be afraid to talk to your favorite blogs and show them some love, guys! We always appreciate it! āŗļø
He had not been waiting long when it happened, between one inhale and the next. He could see his breath. Butter biscuits!! Not now! Whatever pest was nearby, it had best not ruin his plans. While he could reschedule this meeting, it would not do to let Daniel get cold feet. Subtly looking around, he spotted the tail end of something flicking into the women's bathrooms. How crass.
Read on ao3 Here, support me with a coffee!
He kept his eye on it, not seeing or hearing anyone come fleeing out so perhaps it would wait till he finished? So focused he was on the pest, he almost missed Daniel entering. Catching sight of the young man looking around, he waited a moment to take him in. Slightly under dressed but clearly trying, he looked much better than in the club.
Standing, he drew the manās attention with a smile. Daniel looked relieved, likely had been worried about the meeting. An understandable reaction. Vlad moved to meet him by the table, pulling his chair out for him. āGood evening Daniel.ā
After a moment of hesitation, likely surprize, Daniel sat and let Vlad push the chair in before taking his seat. āHi, you look nice.ā Vlad could pick up the nervousness easily, a blind deaf man could pick it up. Daniel sat stiffly, hands in his lap and kept glancing around almost self consciously.
āAs do you, relax. it is just dinner Daniel. Dinner and some talk, nothing else.ā Vlad made sure to pitch his voice and soothingly as possible, glad that it seemed to work even a little. He pushed a menu over to him, giving him an encouraging smile. āOrder whatever you like, I recommend the steak.ā He offered.
āThanks I...Iāve never done something like this before.ā Danny laughed, voice slightly strained. āSteak is goodā¦ā He looked at the menu for a few moments before wincing and closing it. āyeah steak is fine.ā
Still far to tense, that would not do. Perhaps it was best to move things along? āDo not worry about the prices, but would it soothe you if we spoke plainly?ā He asked, waiting till he got a nod before continuing. āI am offering to pay room and board as well as a stipend every month. In exchange all i request is your time and affection. There will be dates I expect you to be mine, they will be clearly labeled and set up at least a week in advance. Expectations will also be clearly lined out for each occasion, be it accompanying me to some minor event or spending the evening at my home.ā
He laid things out clearly, disliking miscommunication in things such as this. It was far to delicate a matter to risk subtly after all. After that, all he could do was wait. He could tell Daniel needed a few moments to process it all and let him be, instead turning his attention to the menu as if he did not already know what he wanted to order.
āWhat uh...what would all be required for my um..affection?ā Came the question after a few long moments, prompting Vlad to set the menu down to focus on the nervous man.
āI am a man of simple needs. There are times when I merely require someone else in my home, just your presence. Other times I will want you in my bedā simple, open and blunt. He couldnāt help but chuckle at the red that bloomed over the other mans face and did not even try to hide it behind his drink. āOf course your own schedule will come into consideration when making plans.ā he added
Daniel, poor dear very red Daniel, cleared his throat a few times and needed a drink of water before he spoke. āWhat uh if we aren'tā¦.compatible?ā he asked slowly, clearly searching for the words. That got a raised eyebrow from Vlad.
āA wise question. I propose this, come home with me. Tonight or another night. We will find out.ā

friendly reminder that fanfic authors write full length novels for free, and all most of us ask in return is exposure in the form of recommendations, reblogs, and feedback
Not just full length novels, but full-length BOOK SERIES.
Harry Potter and the Sorcererās Stones was 76,944 words.
Eragon was 157k words
The Hobbit was 95,022.words (and yes, those 22 at the end are very important words~)
Anyway, please PLEASE review, comment, and share the fanfictions you like.
These authors are, for free, giving you hours and hours and hours of entertainment.
Thank them.
feedback culture has rly died on here for content creators tbh
Gradually, itās been declining, but i feel that right around the 1st few months of this year is when it rly took a huge plunge
Not only have i noticed this w my own art and stuff, but a lot of friends who create stuff have noted similar things. even popular artists and writers who used to get 5k+ notes per post are only getting a couple hundred. I used to get abt 800 per post and now im lucky if i break 50. 90% likes to 10% rbs.
Ppl say u shouldnt create just for the attention but damn spending HOURS on smth and getting little to no feedback when u used to get a decent amount is shit
All of this is so important. Yes, we creators do things for ourselves but is it really too much to ask to reblog/comment something that you truly enjoyed? Getting no feedback causes writers to stop writing and artists to stop creating art and every other creator from doing the things you enjoy too. And when they stop there are questions why and what happened when this lack of feedback is the main reason for it.
Youāll never annoy a creator by saying something nice about their work or reblog it. NEVER. We live off these things, they motivate us and show us that people care!
So please, take these few seconds out of your day to show you appreciation. Itās not hard.
Forgive me, but your engagement rate seems pretty standard. Based on what Iāve seen on my fics and my friends (averaging about 6-8% comments for subscribers) maybe itās a problem with readers as a whole? Iāve been asking them to see if itās an across the board problem.
Nah itās all good bro :) The engagement rate for my own fics suggests a 10% standard. Thatās one of the highest you can ever hope for, so when iāve gone an extra mile and written about twice the usual amount of words and donāt even get the small standard percent? That just sucks. I expect a 10% return on my work, which isnāt even asking much for the work that goes into producing content. Youāre right about readers as a whole. Itās definitely an across the board problem for all fandoms. Thereās so much content out there people feel entitled to consume and consume and give nothing back and it really stifles productivity as well as creativity.
And people wonder why some fics just go unfinished. Once itās been a month your work is pretty much obsolete as readers also tend to think a commenting-period has an expiration date, and once the fic has been out for a while, itās unnecessary to comment; that polite expectation suddenly doesnāt matter anymore. Commenting never has an expiration date. Just because the fic you read was published 5 years ago, donāt think that the author doesnāt get THRILLED things are still being read and enjoyed, and to STILL get feedback on something that first-time readers or newbs to a fandom have connected with. Fic is unlike fanart in that respect, in that art gets circulated and loved quickly due to no language barrier; its a visual medium. Our written work seems to age ten times faster in that respect.
Heād talked himself in and out of it at least a dozen times before showing up. What could it hurt, he reasoned, just showing up? Hear what he had to say? It didnāt cost him anything and he got a fancy dinner out of it! Not like heād ever be able to afford that place on his own after all, not even if he saved up for a year.
So he showed up and immediately felt under dressed. The guy at the front, what did they call them? Something with an M..martyr? Martyr D? Didnāt seem to bat an eye, not even when he said he was here to see a Mr. Masters. He was just shown to the doorway and there he spent a panicked moment searching for the older man, sure everyone was staring.
His nerves didnāt settle even when he was sat down, sitting tense and trying not to act it. This had never happened to anyone he knew, what was he supposed to do? How was he supposed to act? He shivered a little and looked around before rubbing his arms. Stupid nerves.
Vlad looked good though. Real good. He was dressed down too, obviously so since he had a suit. That helped, he was clearly trying to make him comfortable and it worked. Having his chair pushed in was...new. He kinda liked it.
Looking over the menu, he almost had a heart attack. There were no prices. He knew enough for what that meant. If you had to ask for prices then you couldnāt afford it. Yikes. āSteak is good.ā He agreed, quickly closing the menu and then regretting it. Now he had nothing to focus on other then his nerves.
Being asked to āspeak plainlyā was good, get it all over with. Nodding, he fiddled with a napkin in his lap. Time and affection? Dates? That...didnāt sound too bad? Dates were good, and a weekās notice was real nice. He was expecting to just lay around until Vlad decided to call him up. This meant he didnāt have to worry about being mid-patrol and getting a call like he did with his parents. Having expectations layed out was also real nice. He liked knowing what was going on. While Vlad looked at the menu, Danny mulled it over. It seemed like a really good deal? Stipend which he assumed was like...pocket money? And his own place! The only hang up was..
āWhat uh...what would all be required for my um..affection?ā He knew what it was but wanted the man to say it and say it he did. Why was he blushing? He was a stripper for peteās sake! And yet there he was! Able to feel the heat rising. Heād never blushed this hard before in his entire life? Oops, he tore the napkin, did he have to pay for that? Trying to subtly shove it into his pocket, he looked anywhere but at the very handsome man across the table.

some chapters coming up for Every Hero Needs A Batcave, they gunna be short though because I hecked up and so Iāve had to splice some chapters to keep the flow going right.
You know, this is why content creators end up abandoning their works, right?
80 likes compared to 10 reblogs means that only 12% of people decided that what you did is worth showing other people.
If you like the thing, reblog it. You donāt even have to add tags, just spread it so that a) other people can see it, and b) the creator gets recognition for what they did.
Obviously, those numbers are never going to match, but the divide should not be that huge.
Itās even more important right now, because tumblr is garbage and theyāve stopped allowing anything with an outside link from appearing in tags. Writers/artists cannot tag things to their twitter/store/writing website. That can cause a significant drop in views, especially for newer creators.
Like⦠we arenāt asking for much. A few reblogs. Reviews/comments. No creator should have to beg for that much.
