Nicky Hemmick would never use AI. He’d pity the fact you need a robot to tell you how to text your crush.

Dan Wilds would never use AI. She’d lose faith in humanity if she saw you use AI to make porn out of random people online.

Renee Walker would never use AI. She’d be confused why you’d ever ask an emotionless machine to make art.

Matt Boyd would never use AI. He’d feel bad you’ve lost all ability to think or recognize your own feelings enough you need chatgpt to write your diary entry for you.

Allison Reynolds would never use AI. She’d stare at you in disbelief if she heard you asked a screen to pick an outfit for you.

Jean Moreau would never use AI. He’d call you a mushed-brain idiot, end of sentence.

Nicky thought that the twins would disperse to their rooms immediately after dinner, but they all somehow ended up in the living room. Nicky had already suggested all the types of entertainment he knew without lights, but all options were rejected. So now it is an awkward silence.

Nicky remembered the moment when, after a serious downpour, the wires near their house were broken and there was no light, Aaron said that most of his homework was done with a flashlight or candles, and Andrew grumbled that in some of his places there was no light at all. Nicky has never been so upset, is he really the same as all the previous homes for twins, is he not better than foster parents who don't care about the children and their drug addict mother??

Yes, the twins were sitting in the living room, not in their rooms, because no one wants to be alone in the dark, it's still early to bed.

All that is to say he can read Andrew’s expressions bc all the tiny little twitches mean something to Neil. They’re hard to see, but there are a ridiculous amount of muscles in the human face used just for expressions, a few of them are bound to slip through Andrew’s apathy/poker face. His eyes, too, are always moving, since he’s always over-aware of the surroundings. Not noticeable, not really, just a split-second quiver.

Unless you’re monitoring him as a threat— or, later, in love with him— anyway. (In other words, obsessed.)

It used to be a way for Neil to defend himself; a survival technique that could catch him from slipping from the thin line, a tightrope, below him. Now, he uses it to tell which ice cream Andrew wants for dessert that night— how his lips twitch flat for just a fraction of a second at the salted caramel, the tiny exhale at the plain vanilla. No fun.
