I think I've written something similar in the past but but...I actually ALMOST feel sorry for Musk. His life is parasitic and his death will be a net positive to humanity and the worst thing is HE KNOWS IT! Oates has a point - you'd think someone with that kind of wealth would ACTUALLY write about the elements of life and culture that he feels enriches him but he can't. Because the only thing he has to strive for is more money and more power. Two things that his acquisition of would actively cheapen the overall value. To people like Musk, the very idea of family is transactional. "What do I get out of it?" (insert comparison to his trans daughter - I'm rushing this). He COULD devote his life to something that fulfills him but...nothing ever will. When you have more wealth than has ever been owned by anyone and that STILL isn't enough, why would you or I assume it ever WILL be?! To be THAT hollow and empty and devoid of the most basic pleasures of life, if Musk wasn't who he was, I'd ACTUALLY feel sorry for him.
