"I want to give you some important advice, Debra. You've taken a very big step marrying someone with two teenage boys. This is going to be much more challenging than you can possibly imagine. You're becoming their mother, with all that entails. You've got to get them to respect you in that role, and accept that you now have full authority over them. If you don't do that from day one, you'll be fighting an uphill battle with them as long as they live under your roof. You've got to make it absolutely clear to them from the very start that you will not tolerate any challenges to your authority, and that you expect them to treat you with the utmost respect and obey you without question or hesitation. Unfortunately, you can count on them testing you. And whenever they do, there have to be consequences.
"Now, I don't know how they've been disciplined in the past, but from now on, when they misbehave or disobey you, or challenge your authority over them, or treat you disrespectfully, their punishment must always include a spanking. It's the one way that they're going to take you seriously, Debra. Yes, I know that they're fourteen and sixteen. It doesn't matter. They need to know that if they step out of line, that you're going to spank them. Every single time. No exceptions ever. If you want to tack on some other punishments such as loss of privileges, grounding, extra chores, early bedtime, whatever, that's fine. But not as a substitute for a spanking. In addition to their spanking. You can't tolerate any arguing or attempts to negotiate. And you always have to remain firm and resolute. Misbehavior always means a sore bottom. Always. By the way, make sure that your husband stays out of the room while you're administering his son's punishment. His presence would confuse things for the boy being spanked. A spanking should just be a mother-son affair. And that is every bit as true when it's a stepmother-stepson relationship. You're the one in charge of his discipline. No appeals to his dad. His father has absolutely no role or say in his corrections. And it goes without saying that any attempt by one of the boys to question your authority by going to his father to interfere, must be dealt with severely.
"So, their spankings always need to be bare bottom. Underpants pulled down every single time. You can't worry about embarrassing them. They're being punished. It's supposed to be embarrassing. And make sure that you don't appear the least bit squeamish about seeing their private parts. It's supposed to be awkward for them, not you. It should seem like the most natural thing in the world to you to see them in such a shameful state of undress. And don't tolerate any attempts by them to cover themselves up down there. Hands completely out of the way while you're baring them and scolding them as they stand in front of you. Let them take a few minutes once their underpants are already down and while you're scolding, to allow the shame and embarrassment to sink in deeply before you put them over your knee.
"And yes, they should always go face down across your lap for their spankings. They need to come to think of your lap as the place they go to get their punishments. It should be the scariest place on earth for them. The place where they are so horribly vulnerable and exposed and helpless.
"If you don't already have one, get yourself a large, heavy, solid, wooden hairbrush. They're perfect for spanking a teenage boy's bare bottom. And make sure that you spank long and hard. Keep up a good, brisk, steady pace. Don't be afraid you're hurting him too much. A spanking is supposed to hurt way more than the boy can take. It's a waste of time if it doesn't break him down completely and cause him to bawl like a baby. You want his bottom and sit spots a deep, dark, angry red, nicely swollen and bruised, ideally with plenty of blisters to show for his misbehavior. Don't pay any attention to his pleas and promises. Boys will say anything to try to get out of their full punishments. Just keep that hairbrush going. It should always be a thoroughly chastened and changed boy who gets down from your knee following a session with your hairbrush. As long as you're uncompromising when it comes to their behavior and punishments, you'll soon have two well behaved, respectful young men who will be going out of their way to make sure that they don't get into any trouble. If you ever make the mistake of weakening and giving in to their attempts to manipulate you, then you'll have nothing but trouble on your hands."
