With her skirts held up to her hips, Caitlyn rushed to the stable. She unpinned the hat from her hair and tore the multitude of skirt frills from her waist.

“Stupid, bloody, thing.” She stamped on the dress skirts as they fell to the floor.

Feeling much more comfortable in the trousers she had worn underneath her mothers dress, she smiled and greeted the large mare.

“Sorry about that Juniper.” She whispered, gently pressing her forehead to the horses nose as she caressed her chin.

“Ready?” She said, hauling the saddle onto the white thoroughbred.

With a quick clinking of metal, the saddle was secure. There was just one last thing she needed.

Climbing onto a haybale, she reached to one of the rafters, and with a satisfied smile, she pulled down one of her fathers rifles.
