Insomnia has been kicking my ass the past few days, so I decided as I was trying to sleep this morning that if I couldn't sleep, I'd clean my room.

Okay so I was thinking... We find out in LOK that Korra was born the same year Aang died, right? Though we don't know the month or day. It makes me wonder how quick the reincarnation process is for the Avatar and if there's like... potentials scattered throughout (kind of like it is with Slayers from Buffy) that might be chosen/become the Avatar? It'd make sense if there were potentials scattered throughout - that any fetus could potentially become the Avatar and that the Spirits may chose the most compatible soul next in line of the cycle. I know there's the whole "If you die in the Avatar state, the cycle is broken" but that didn't happen in canon. Maybe it's because Katara brought him back in time - but maybe it was because that was an assumption and not a rule. Been a hot minute since I've watched LOK, but was it ever confirmed that would break the cycle and require a new one to be forged? (I'm pretty sure Korra didn't die in the Avatar state and the cycle broke in another way.)
